Though its history and its place in the hearts of Tilton community members past and present is clear, so is the need to invest in the building’s future. The Board of Trustees voted to complete a $9 million renovation to the lobby, bathrooms, common rooms, dorm rooms, and all faculty housing. This is the largest project in the history of the building, made possible because of the incredible leadership and generosity of a core group of donors, and it’s all happening now.
The world needs a school like Tilton; a place where students come as they are and feel valued, understood, and appreciated; a place where grades are not meant to judge you — but rather, to coach you; a place where educators teach for growth, not solely for grades. Tilton is unapologetic in its belief in the potential of young people and their capacity to learn, lead, and give back to their communities. The student and faculty experience at Tilton is different by design. It is our mission to deliver that experience, now and for many years to come.
Knowles Hall isn’t the only place we’re making changes right now. We are designing an academic program that supports innovation, agility, and entrepreneurship. That means new opportunities for learning, both in and out of the classroom, and reimagining how our core philosophy, the Mastery Approach, comes to life in all that we do here on the Hill.
