Ed Frankel was born in 1938 in Brooklyn, New York, where he grew up before attending Long Island University's College of Pharmacy. Ed's entrepreneurial journey began in 1972 when he founded Windmill, driven by his vision to provide high-quality supplements and unmatched service to independent pharmacies. His leadership transformed Windmill into a trusted pharmacy distributor, and in the early 1990s, he expanded its reach nationwide. The launch of Hi-Ener-G marked a milestone, quickly becoming a top-seller in chain drug stores.
Sixty-four years ago, Ed met Leah, and they married two years later, building a family with their sons, Keith and Frank, of whom they are immensely proud Now living in Jupiter, Florida, Ed enjoys rounds of golf, time with friends and family, and the company of their beloved dog, Murray. Ed remains deeply committed to his philanthropic work as the active Chairman of TiKVA Children’s Home, continuing to bring his leadership and compassion to the organization he cares for so deeply.
Seth Gerszberg is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Active Acquisitions, anindustrial and residential real estate development firm.
Prior to founding the firm Seth was the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Marc Ecko Enterprises, a global fashion and lifestyle company.
Under Mr. Gerszberg’s leadership, the company grew from a regional menswear company to become a market share leader with global sales across more than 100 countries.
Since 2001, Mr. Gerszberg has also served as the President of TiKVA Children’s Home, a charitable organization dedicated to providing nurturing homes and educational services to children in need in the Ukraine.
Seth has eight children and six grandchildren and lives with his wife, Emily, in Englewood, New Jersey.
Dear Friends and Supporters,
As we gather tonight, I am filled with gratitude to each and every one of you. The journey we have shared with TiKVA has been a path of profound challenges and unparalleled triumphs, a testament to the strength of our collective purpose
TiKVA means “Hope,” and it was born from a dream to bring hope and healing to children in desperate need a vision made real by our founders, Chairman Ed Frankel and Seth Gerszberg, whom we are privileged to honor and celebrate tonight Their unwavering dedication has been the backbone of this mission, propelling us forward even when the road ahead seemed insurmountable. Ed’s personal support and daily involvement, along with Seth’s long standing commitment, continue to shape TiKVA’s direction Their monumental and inspired decisions have saved countless lives and improved the lives of our children and refugees in ways that are beyond measure.
In recent years, our resolve has been tested in unimaginable ways The outbreak of war between Ukraine and Russia brought days that none of us will ever forget We faced the heartbreaking task of evacuating children from Odessa, leaving behind all they had known to seek safety This journey led us to a temporary haven in Romania, where we began the arduous work of rebuilding our Homes and schools, even if only temporarily. With each new challenge, we were reminded that we are not alone; you, our cherished community, have been our source of enduring hope
Most recently, the war in Israel has had a profound impact on TiKVA, as we stepped up to care for our students and alumni many serving in the army and others displaced from the south providing them refuge and support at our TiKVA Center in Jerusalem. This year has also brought unprecedented financial challenges We face difficulties like never before, and it is only with the help of each of you here tonight that we can overcome them
Tonight, as we reflect on all that we have overcome, we also celebrate the incredible successes that your generosity has made possible Because of your belief in TiKVA, hundreds of children have found a new life filled with security, love, and opportunity.
The visionary leadership of Ed and Seth has inspired us to dream bigger and work harder. Their commitment is not just strategic; it’s deeply personal. Ed’s hands-on involvement and Seth’s care and support are the reasons we can keep pushing forward, creating real, lasting change and hope
Thank you for standing with us and traveling with us on this incredible journey Your support fuels TiKVA’s mission, and tonight, we are not just fostering brighter futures; we are creating a legacy of hope that will endure for generations. May we continue to bring hope, love, and strength to those who need it most
With heartfelt gratitude, Refael Kruskal CEO of TiKVA 4
Dear Friends and Supporters,
I am both honored and humbled to be a part of TiKVA Children’s Home. This role is a profound privilege, one that allows me to witness, daily, the resilience, courage, and boundless potential of each child in our care TiKVA is more than an organization it’s a family, and a beacon of hope for Jewish children whose lives have been marked by hardship. As the world shifts and challenges deepen, the need for our mission has only grown stronger, reminding us of the essential work we do
Over the past two and a half years, in particular, Am Yisrael our incredible extended family has consistently answered our call. Together, we have faced countless trials, yet each challenge has only deepened our commitment to these children Your enduring support has shown me that, despite any obstacle, we are united by something far greater than ourselves: our dedication to safeguarding and nurturing the future of Jewish children around the world. The generosity, compassion, and solidarity of our community reflect the very heart of TiKVA’s mission, and I am grateful to be part of this remarkable journey
I have never been prouder to be a part of Am Yisrael, to serve TiKVA, and to carry forward a vision that began with two extraordinary individuals, Seth and Ed They planted the seeds of hope and healing that have since blossomed into a thriving, vibrant family Their legacy is profound, and it is an honor to carry it forward in any small way I can Alongside the guidance of our steadfast leader, Refael Kruskal, who works tirelessly on the ground, and our dedicated trustees who invest their hearts and resources, we continue to uphold this mission every day
Tonight, as we come together, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to each of you. Thank you for your unwavering support, for sharing our vision, and for being an essential part of TiKVA’s family. Together, we create a safe and loving environment for the next generation, nurturing a spirit of resilience and hope that will carry them far beyond these walls
Thank you for standing with us, for believing in the future of our children, and for being a part of TiKVA tonight. We remain United in Hope.
With deepest gratitude and admiration,
Arielle Setton Executive Director, TiKVA Children’s
Home
Dear Friends,
On behalf of the entire TiKVA Children’s Home family, thank you for joining us tonight Your presence signifies more than just generosity; it represents a profound commitment to orphaned children and a community of refugees in desperate need of basic essentials such as food, shelter, mental health support, education, stability, and, above all, TiKVA HOPE
As we all know, this past year has brought unprecedented hardships, particularly for those affected by the war in Israel. Much of the world’s attention and resources have rightly turned toward supporting Israel And yet, while we stand in solidarity with them and Am Yisrael around the world, we also find ourselves reflecting on the children and refugees in our care young lives displaced and yearning for a sense of home and belonging.
My connection to TiKVA's mission is deeply personal Like many others in this room tonight, my family has experienced the anguish of displacement and the challenges of starting anew. My parents fled from their homeland in the former Soviet Union, seeking a safer and brighter future. Their resilience and courage continue to inspire me and reinforce my daily commitment to TiKVA’s mission Just as others once showed compassion to my family, we must extend that same hope to the children of TiKVA, for whom TiKVA is their only family.
I stand proud, reflecting on TiKVA’s incredible achievements: thousands of children have lived in TiKVA homes and attended our schools, nearly a thousand have made Aliyah, and the 150 are currently serving in the IDF and are in the reserves today, protecting Israel and the Jewish people. TODAY, TiKVA cares for thousands of orphans, Holocaust survivors and community of Alumni living as refugees between three countries and two war zones
Tonight, your support directly impacts the lives of orphaned children and the displaced Jewish community, giving them a chance to heal, learn, and grow into confident and empowered young adults. Through love, care, and quality Jewish education, they are offered the possibility of a brighter future that, with your help, can be filled with safety, love, and opportunity
Thank you for standing with us and for choosing to be a part of the TiKVA family. Together, we are ensuring Jewish continuity and continuing to build a legacy of compassion and resilience, even in the face of extraordinary challenges
With deepest gratitude, Yanna Begelman

TiKVA is hope
TiKVA is comfort.
Above all else, TiKVA is family.
During my recent trip to visit the orphans and refugee community in Romania, the aspect of the family was evident.
The children are connected to their teachers on many levels; there is a sense of love. In turn, the teachers and administrators are emotionally vested in the orphans' betterment, joy, and educational development.
To see everyone’s compassion and commitment is to see Tikkun Olam in action.
It is a privilege to be a part of the TIKVA Children's Home family and to know that you’re ensuring the smiles and Simcha of the next generation of Jewish children

TiKVA's purpose of safeguarding the sacred Jewish customs and heritage among Jewish children, who otherwise would be deprived of this invaluable opportunity, is of utmost importance and urgency in the present times.
As proud bearers of the Jewish identity, we unite our voices with those of our ancestors who fearlessly echoed their loyalty throughout the ages. Their unwavering commitment inspires us, empowering us to stand strong against the rising wave of anti-Semitism targeting our people.
We must stand united and cannot remain passive in the face of violence inflicted upon us, nor can we forsake our ancestral homeland as it faces constant threats. We must rise above silence and demonstrate unwavering strength and bravery, for it is through these qualities that we can ensure the perpetuation of our cherished traditions and the Jewish way of life
As we reflect upon the fragility of our world, we must not take for granted the joy of having our loved ones safely by our side. We must cherish every moment, especially considering the circumstances of the children of TiKVA who rely solely on each other and our unwavering support
Our hearts are filled with gratitude and prayers for the brave soldiers of the IDF and their families, who selflessly make profound sacrifices to safeguard the very existence of the Jewish people. May Hashem's divine blessings and protection continue to envelop them and all the Jewish people, serving as an unyielding shield against any adversity
