Every year, Hall boys are invited to enter a submission for the Bryanston Science Essay. The submission is a report in either Biology, Chemistry or Physics which needs to demonstrate that it has met the competition’s exacting standards; markers are looking for a piece which is well structured, clearly focused and well presented in fluent English with scientific theories and arguments logically introduced and developed. This year Ishaan Sheridan was awarded first prize, for his Biology report on Cheating in Sport.

I would plant coconuts, mango seeds, papaya seeds and my other favourite fruits in the garden to see which one would grow fastest - they all grew taller than me very quickly in such a sunny and humid climate!

Steroids are now banned in the UK, with imprisonment of up to 2 years upon possession and up to 14 years for supplying them. The monetary fine for either possession or supply is unlimited.

We learnt a lot about threats like de-forestation and pollution and that we should help protect that environment by buying paper and wood products that carry the FSC symbol.

I very much enjoy my role as Head of Art at the school and despite the demands of the job I always make time to focus on my own creativity.

My artistic and teaching life is varied and busy and, as my partner says, I am lucky that every day is different.

We are very fortunate that Lord Neuberger has returned to the Hall in the past as one of our Sixth Form Society speakers.

GOLDEN HINDE

Year 2 travelled back in time to climb upon the decks of Sir Francis Drake’s Golden Hinde ship, as part of their Explorers topic.

Where is the ozone layer located? The stratosphere of course!

We did a chant ce, ome, yei, nahui, which are the first four numbers in the language the Aztecs use.

The rules in hockey, at this level, are less complicated than those of rugby, and so the focus has primarily been on the technical aspects of the game.

“All Year 8 boys should be extremely proud of their performances, not only this year but each year they have played at The Hall. I am sure over the next few years we will see the boys go on and make names for themselves on the rugby field”

He was rewarded with a medal for sixth place in the U10 category.
