In this edition of the Tigress315radio Newsletter, we are thrilled to feature Stephanie Caprara, an independent music artist whose unique sound is capturing hearts everywhere. Dive into our article to discover more about her inspiring journey and musical artistry.
What inspired you to start making music, and who are your biggest influences? I was inspired at an early age from some of the most incredible artists of our time Prince, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Céline Dion, Chaka Khan and so many more I love listening to different genres of music and soaking in the unique characteristics and elements of each style I started taking piano lessons at 8 years old and then began singing lessons at the age of 14 I knew that a career in music was my destiny from an early age What themes or messages do you aim to convey through your music? I write about various subjects I aim to always convey an authentic message of love, encouragement, happiness, confidence and simply being proud to be yourself Music is a powerful and uplifting tool and I feel it my duty to convey emotional messages to listeners
How has your music evolved since you first started? I released my first album, “Blissful Sounds” back in 2010 I am very proud of the work I did on that album Every part of it was authentic and the songs were vocally challenging Still, I have grown a great deal as an artist since that release My overall experience and years of vocal training made me better as a singer and songwriter. I keep raising the bar for myself because growth as an artist never stops. Growth is the driving force of success and meeting challenges head on is what truly makes you stand out. I just don't like anything that comes too easy
What has been your most memorable performance experience so far? Oh, this is a tough question There have been many memorable performances Back in 2008 I was hired to sing for the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, China It was an incredible trip! I also had the privilege to sing for a televised event at Canada’s Wonderland. My time living in NYC allowed me to perform at some beautiful venues with exceptional musicians as well
How do you handle creative blocks or periods of low inspiration? My periods of low inspiration don’t last long I am very tapped into my emotions and this causes inspiration to come easily. I can write songs quickly Either I come up with a melody first, or I start with chord progressions on the piano and the rest follows Being around nature, animals and spending some alone time is also a great way for me to get inspired

How do you handle performance anxiety before a live show?
Performance anxiety never quite goes away no matter how many years you do this. I always feel a little nervous before stepping on stage. However, it doesn’t stop me, I just face stress or fear head on! As soon as I sing my first note, I then feel completely at home on stage
How do you stay motivated to practice and improve your skills? If you don’t use it, you lose it! Singing is just like fitness training It requires stamina, excellent breath control and engaging your muscles Great musicians and singers never stop practicing or challenging themselves. I studied vocal technique under a certified Estill Voice master coach for 7 years. In those 7 years, I gained indispensable knowledge that will last me a lifetime. I love singing so it isn’t hard for me to convince myself to practice It makes me feel great and truly happy
How do you handle criticism and feedback on your music, both positive and negative? I’m open to positive feedback and I use it to my advantage. Keeping an open-mind is how I gain knowledge.
What sacrifices have you had to make in your personal life to pursue your music career? I sacrificed many opportunities to go out partying with friends in my youth. To be honest, it was not something that ever interested me. I was far more interested in practicing, learning and protecting my voice from alcohol, drugs, etc. I gave my life to music and I have no regrets.
What advice would you give to aspiring musicians learning your instrument? Don’t give up! Find an experienced and skilled teacher to help you improve your technique. Challenge yourself and pursue your dreams. Above all, stay true to yourself!
How do you incorporate your personal experiences into your music? I tend to write songs based on experiences I have had I’m not one to wallow in negativity or sadness, so if I write a sad song, it comes with a positive life lesson. My latest single “Better Off This Way” is a perfect example of that. Not everything is meant for you because you deserve far better. In the end, you’re better off without that person or opportunity, it's a form of protection.
