MAY IMPROV DROP-IN CLASSES BE IN G OBVIOUS AND B OR I NG WITH KEM SL EY DI CK I NS O N SAT U R D A Y 1 0T H M A Y A workshop on...…well I defer to Keith Johnstone: The improviser has to realize that the more obvious he is, the more original he appears. Ordinary people asked to improvise will search for some ‘original’ idea because they want to be thought clever. No two people are exactly alike, and the more obvious an improviser is, the more themselves they appear. Striving after originality takes you far away from your true self, and makes your work mediocre.
B ACK TO TH E F U TURE WITH S ALMAN Q URE S H I S ATURDAY 1 7TH MAY The first half of this workshop will explore different to edit that you can integrate into your improv’ scenes and stories: cutting through time and space to add context to your stories and to explore Brave New Worlds. From Tag-Outs runs, to swarm edits, from cut to’s to Slow Motion Scenes, this is an intermediate workshop for those with some prior experience in improvisation.
RE AL BEG I NNI NG S WITH E RIK HADDEN S ATURDAY 2 4T H MAY This workshop will give participants the opportunity to practice initiating dynamic and engaging scenes that are truthful. Focus will be on creating an initial first minute of a scene to establish all the character and elements that it needs to flower into something beautiful. Base-Realities or Platforms in improv’ are the foundations upon which all good scene-work depends.”
