Design

Our team of renowned Chilean creatives, led by our founder Miguel Purcell, designed an ambitious plan to preserve the essence of Tierra Atacama. Carolina Delpiano, responsible for the original interiors of all the Tierra properties, transformed the interior spaces.

The renewed landscaping is once again generated by Teresa Moller's landscape studio, who developed the original restoration of the abandoned 5 hectares plot of land, with a culturally sensitive focus.

The chosen color pale e with deep blue tones and noble materials, such as wood and travertine marble from local quarries, evokes different elements of the surrounding nature, to complement the essence of the renewed identity of Tierra Atacama. More than 40 artists and designers created unique pieces for each corner, adding quality, beauty, and a sense of cultural belonging to the hotel's narrative.

Main lodge features

The redistribution of the reception area, bar, and lounge area, maximizes natural light and energy efficiency. Some of the innovations for the common areas include new positioning of the central fireplace, a renewed excursions area and the installation of a new wine cellar as well as the addition of an open-plan kitchen.

The Corral de Toros Entrance

As part of the project, the original ca le pen, whose adobe walls were built 150 years ago using ancient techniques, was brought back to life.

It is now a space to rest, find shade, listen to birdsong and hear the trickling of water through the stone. The pathway to the door is guided by the Licancabur Volcano.

Dining

Tierra Atacama offers innovative takes on traditional north Chilean cuisine with locally sourced produce. The restaurant features shaded outdoor spaces and floor-to-ceiling windows that capture the desert's changing colors.

The menus are tailored for the high-altitude location and warm climate, with emphasis on local ingredients including Chilean beef, lamb and seafood with fresh salads. Save room for dessert and try the unique home-made ice cream with flavors such as chañar and algarrobo from native plants.

As the evening falls over the desert, our signature rica rica cocktail is a popular choice to begin the night. You can also choose from a selection of other refreshing beverages, and enjoy the sunset over the Licancabur Volcano from the restaurant or terraces.
