Makes 8 to 10 slices INGREDIENTS Terrine • 1 large Madeira sponge cake, or panettone • 300g each ripe strawberries, blueberries and raspberries • 2 litres vanilla ice cream, slightly softened

INGREDIENTS Topping

Dip quickly into warm water and unmould it onto a platter.

Top with the berries and give it a good shaking of icing sugar.

TIP: For easier slicing, dip your knife in hot water.

• 250g frozen raspberries • 200g fresh or frozen blueberries • 200g sliced strawberries • 1 tablespoon icing sugar

METHOD Line a 900g loaf tin with cling film, making sure it overlaps the sides of the tin so that you can fold it over the dessert.

Place a layer of vanilla ice cream onto the base of the tin and on top of that place a few thin slices of sponge cake.

Cover with a row of strawberries, and next to that a row of blueberries, and next to that a row of raspberries.

Cover the berries with vanilla ice cream and continue layering as before till the loaf tin is full. Press down firmly to make sure you seal all the holes.

Fold the cling film over the top.

Place the tin in the freezer and freeze till really hard.

Jack Basson, een van ons algemene werkers, sit trots hier by sy puik handewerk. Na ons verspringput tydens die herstel van ‘n gebreekte rioolpyp ‘n jaar of wat terug erg beskadig was, het Jack dit omtrent heeltemal van voor af oorgebou en kan ons dit nou weer ten volle gebruik. Die put is ook langs ‘n toegangroete tot ons rugbyveld en danksy die stewige paal op die hoek van die put, sal voertuie dit ook nie weer sommer kan beskadig nie.

Pa-en-seun-tyd op atletiekbaan Mnr. Terblanche en sy jongste het kwaliteit pa-en-seun-tyd so saam op ‘n Saterdag deurgebring met die voorbereiding van ons atletiekbaan vir die nuwe seisoen.

Leerlingraadopleidingskamp Ons nuwe leerlingraad was tydens die laaste naweek van die Desembervakansie op ‘n kort opleidingskamp waar hul allerlei take moes voltooi en probleme oplos. Hul het ook baie pret gehad.

Juffrou Bekker en van die Graad 6’e bid tydens ‘n geleentheid waartydens die hele skool in hul klasse op dieselfde tyd vir reën vir die Wes-Kaap gebid het.

Ons verwelkom nuwe personeel by De Tyger Me. Meghan Jansen van Rensburg Ek is die nuwe kunsonderwyser by die skool. Die gedagte dat ek bevoorreg genoeg is om elke dag te doen waarvoor ek lief is, kweek ‘n warm gevoel in my hart.

Ek heg besonderse waarde aan selfuitdrukking en die vryheid om spontaan en kreatief te kan wees. Juis as gevolg hiervan, sal die kunste altyd ‘n integrale deel van my lewe bly.

Me. Jana Cilliers Ons nuwe Graad 5-onderwyser het op ‘n plaas buite Swellendam groot geword. In 2017 het ek my B.Ed.-graad aan Stellenbosch Universiteit voltooi. Ek is mal oor alle sportsoorte, maar as ek een moet kies sal dit Crossfit wees. My grootste wens is om ‘n inspirasie en rolmodel vir die leerders te wees.

Nuwe graad RR-klas begin Ons het hierdie jaar begin met ‘n graad RR-klas, vir die 5-jarige maatjies.

Durbies wen WPNS Krieket-uitklopkompetisie

Die Hoërskool Durbanville het vanjaar weer ‘n rekordgetal Graad 8’s ingeneem.

Die jong Durbies het na ‘n weeklange geesvang week hul Durbanville-baadjies ontvang tydens die eerste amptelike saalperiode van 2017.

Baie welkom aan elke jong Durbie.

Ons sien daarna uit om julle te sien groei en ontwikkel. Ons is saam met julle #TrotsDurbanville.

Die Hoërskool Durbanville se o.14Akrieketspan het einde 2017 die finaal van die WPNS Krieket-uitklopkompetisie gewen.

Die Durbies het Brackenfell in die kwarteindronde en Bellville in die semifinaal geklop. Durbanville het in die finaal teen Stellenberg te staan gekom.

Durbanville kolf eerste en teken 109/7 in die 20 boulbeurte aan. Die Durbies boul Stellenberg uit vir 50 lopies en wen die finaal met 59 lopies.

Baie geluk aan ons seuns en afrigters met hierdie puik prestasie, ons is trots op julle.

Durbies wen WP Tweekamp Die Durbies het vanjaar weer so gemaak.

Die Hoërskool Durbanville het vir die tweede agtereenvolgende seisoen die WP Tweekamp Skoleliga gewen.

Die Hoërskool Durbanville neem volgende aan die WesKaap-byeenkoms deel en daarna is dit die SA’s.

Baie geluk aan al ons Durbies wat deelneem, ons is trots op julle!

Matriekuitslae Durbies presteer in akademie Die Hoërskool Durbanville het weer puik presteer tydens die 2017 Matriek-eindeksamen.

Nie net het die skool die naasbeste kandidaat nasionaal opgelewer nie, maar so ook die naasbeste kandidaat nasionaal in Fisiese Wetenskappe.

Durbanville het ‘n klein matriekgroep gehad verlede jaar, maar het 20 A-kandidate opgelewer. Vyf leerders het bo 90% gekry, terwyl 10 leerders 7 A’s behaal het.

Ons is baie trots op ons Klas van 2017. Baie geluk en alle sterkte met die studies.

Durbie kry naasbeste punt vir Matriek Matthys Carstens is aangewys as die land se naasbeste matrikulant vir 2017.

Die Hoërskool Durbanville is bekend daarvoor om ‘n goeie balans te handhaaf en tussen Matthys se besige skedule van kultuur en sport, spog hy met ‘n gemiddelde persentasie van 97,14% vir die 2017 matriek-eindeksamen.

Matthys behaal nasionaal die algehele tweede plek vir matriek 2017 met 97,14% en algeheel tweede nasionaal in Fisiese Wetenskappe met ‘n persentasie van 100%.
