Beste herinneringe op die veld?

Toe ek weer vir die eerste keer na 20 maande op die veld kon uitdraf en boonop nog in ‘n eerstespan rugbytrui.

Stokperdjies buite rugby: Jag. Hoekom het jy besluit om na Grey Kollege te kom?

Ek het na Grey toe gekom want my pa was hier en al sy staaltjies en stories oor tradisie en broederskap het net gemaak dat ek na geen ander skool toe wou gaan nie.

Wat maak dit spesiaal om vir jou eerstespan uit te draf?

Die feit dat jy daardie eerstespantrui net leen en dat jy alles moet maak van elke oomblik in hom. Ook die feit dat jy jou skool en 164 jaar se geskiedenis verteenwoordig. Die trui en die skool verdien niks minder as jou heel beste nie.

Wat is jou gunsteling posisie? Agsteman.

Wie is die grapgat in die span en hoekom?

Nabo is die grapgatman. Hy is altyd die een wat die geraas maak en wanneer dinge te ernstig raak ‘n grap maak om die atmosfeer te lig.

Wie is die Gym Bom in die span?

Petrus. Gym is alles vir hom. Solank dit net bors en arms is, dan is hy op sy gelukkigste. Hy gee altyd alles in die gym.

Wat motiveer jou om Saterdae jou beste te gee?

Daar is soveel aspekte - dit is te veel om te noem, maar die belangrikste is ek wil nie my span of my skool in die steek laat nie, want hulle is my broers.

Is daar een spesiale meisie wat jou wedtsryde ondersteun en indien so wat is haar naam? My ma sal altyd spesiaal bly en my meisie Inge ook.

Lekkerste oomblik na ‘n wedstryd?

Om my spanmaats in die oë te kyk en te kan sê ek het my alles gegee vir hulle.

Wie was jou matriekheld toe jy in Gr 8, Gr 9 was?

Dian Schonees toe ek in graad 9 was.

How are your pre-season preparations going?

Very good the boys are really starting to gel, we are finally getting our fundamentals right and executing the way we want to play.

Why did you decide to come to school Glenwood High School?

For a better opportunity and to be a better person not just a better rugby player. Glenwood has fully succeeded with that.

What makes it special to run out for your first team?

The legacy you face as a Glenwood 1st XV player. Because you know there was many more before you. Obviously the boys egging you on from the stands.

What’s your favourite position?

15 (Fullback).

Who is the joker in the team and why?

Katlego Thinyane.

Who is the gym bomb in the team?

Bani Holtzhausen.

What motivates you on Saturdays to give your best?

To play for my family, which is on the field with me and not letting them down.

Is there someone special watching you on game day and if so, what is her/his name?

Mom, dad and God, I firmly believe that these are the people that gave me my talents.

Best moment after a game?

Beating Affies at Affies, 2018. Seeing our school running on the field after the game and Affies supporters disappeared quickly.

Didn’t really have one.

We have had a decent season so far, having played 25 games and winning 20,drawing 4 and losing 1.

What made you choose to attend this school?

My mother nagging me about Grey and a very persistent Old Grey.

What makes it special to run out for your first team?

Knowing that I’m not only walking out for the first team but for the whole hockey fraternity at Grey and for my brothers in the stand, also just playing for the badge.

Most memorable moment on the field?

During the 2019 SA U17 Hockey camp, the SA U18’s were playing the SA U17’s and I broke my stick in half as I was shooting a goal.

Hobbies outside of hockey?

Art and soccer.

How are your pre-season preparations going?

We are currently in season.

Why did you decide to come to Glenwood High School?

Both my brothers before me attended Glenwood and this hockey program is where I wanted to play.

What makes it special to run out for your first team?

The expectations and support, it gives me goosebumps.

Midfield.

Kwanele Muller, he is just a clown.

Wynand Bloem, he just has this confused manner in the way he approaches situations.

Fastest- Sikhanyiso Fittest- Bernard What motivates you on Saturdays to give your best?

My team and my coaches. They have been the pillar to my success and the thought of them feeling disappointed in my performance is enough to motivate me.

Is there someone special watching you on game day and if so, what is her name?

Unfortunately not now, but in the mere future there might be.

Favourite moment after a game?

When we beat Paul Roos last year and the school jumped over the fence to come and congratulate us and celebrate with us.

What motivates you on Saturdays to give your best?

My teammates, being able to play my best for my friends around me and for the badge on my chest.

Is there someone special watching you on game day and if so what is her/his name? Nathi, my dad.

After winning the 2018 IPT and being selected for SA. Who was your matric hero when you were Gr. 8 and Gr. 9?

Gr. 8 it was Okuhle Cele and in Gr. 9 it was Jared Cass.

Who is the first team hockey’s favourite rugby or hockey player?

Joe Jonas.

Who was your matric hero when you were Gr 8 and G9?

Funny fact, my Matric hero was actual the keeper from Maritzburg in my grade 8 and 9 year.
