AWSUMCelebrity Interview Rhenish Primary had their annual orchestra camp over a weekend in January where music teachers and children were able to work together through their new

exciting repertoire. The Rhenish Primary orchestra have an upcoming performance in the Stellenbosch Endler V: Jy het tweede gekom in Seisoen 7 van Strictly Come Dancing South Africa. Hoe was hierdie Leandie du Randt is ‘n aktrise, aanbieder, ondervinding? Wat het jy geleer? Wat het jy die seremoniemeester, motiveringspreker en skrywer van meeste geniet?

A: Dit het my lewe verander. Ek het besef dat die selfhelpboek Gemaklik In Jou Eie Lyf. Sy is baie dit nie saakmaak hoe oud jy is nie – jy kan altyd bekend vir haar rolle in sepies soos Binnelanders en nog ‘n nuwe vaardigheid aanleer en iets bereik as jy werklik hard werk en dit in jou hart glo.

Getroud met Rugby en films soos Semi-Soet en Klein Ek is baie lief daarvoor om hard te werk en Karoo. Sy het al verskeie toekennings in die bedryf resultate te bereik. Ek sal vir altyd dankbaar wees vir die fantastiese ondervinding en vir my ontvang en was tweede in Seisoen 7 van Strictly Come dansmaat, Brandon Eilers le Riche, en sy pragtige Dancing South Africa. Ons het met haar gesels oor vrou, Natalie, wat my afgerig het, asook my man, Bouwer Bosch, wat my geestelik, fisies en die nuwe trefferfilm, Jagveld, wat in Maart landwyd in emosioneel ondersteun het.

A: Al wat ek nou mag sê is dat ek mal is oor die rol en die film is ‘n moet van 17 Maart 2017 af – dit is definitief ‘n eerste vir SA! V: Wat was die hoogtepunt(e) van jou loopbaan sover?

A: Een van hulle is om na 60 verskillende dorpe te toer met my selfhelpboek en motiveringspraatjie, #NoOneCanBeatYouAtBeingYou in 2016. ‘n Ander een is om ‘n aksierol te kan speel in Jagveld, wat op 17 Maart 2017 in teaters landwyd open.

V: Wat is jou grootste droom op die oomblik? Wat wil jy regtig baie graag professioneel bereik?

A: Ek sal graag in internasionale produksies wil optree, waar die begrotings dit moontlik maak om vir maande vir jou rol voor te berei, en om my motiveringspraatjies internasionaal te doen.

V: Watter professionale akteur/aktrise is jou rolmodel.

Hoekom?

A: Ek het baie rolmodelle vir verskillende dele van my lewe en loopbaan en dit hang af van watter fase ek in my lewe is. Maar ek is erg oor Kate Hudson, Alicia Vikander en Nina Dobrev.

V: Jy het Bedryfsielkunde studeer – jy het uitgeblink, met twee grade cum laude! Hoe het dit gebeur dat jy in die vermaakbedryf beland het?

A: Dankie. Ek het Mej. Persoonlikheid gewen in ons eerstejaarkonsert en die prys was Brümilda van Rensburg se dramakursus. Sy het my opgelei en met die regte mense en geleenthede in aanraking gebring.

V: Jou selfhelpboek vir tieners, Gemaklik In Jou Eie Lyf, was ‘n blitsverkoper. Wat het jou inspireer om die boek te skryf? Wat het jy gehoop om te bereik? Sou die advies in hierdie boek jou as tiener gehelp het?

A: Ek glo graag dit sou vir my van nut wees toe ek ‘n tiener was. Ek het dit geskryf om meisies te inspireer om hulleself te wees in ‘n tyd waarin ons gebreinspoel word om ‘n sekere manier te lyk en te wees. Moet jouself met niemand vergelyk nie, want jy is jy en niemand kan beter as jy daarmee wees nie – fokus daarop en waardeer dit.

V: Wat is jou beste raad vir tienermeisies om gesond en gelukkig te wees en hoe om met liggaamsbeeldkwessies om te gaan?

A: Leef ‘n gebalanseerde lewe. Word gesonder deur goeie kos te eet en oefening te kry – om fisies gesond te wees, maar selfs meer belangrik aan die binnekant. Alles begin in jou kop en gedagtes – wat jy dink, is wat jy word. Probeer gesond leef 80% van die tyd en breek uit 20% van die tyd. Ons almal het verskillende liggame en vorms, so moet nooit probeer soos iemand anders lyk nie – jy sal nooit daarin sukses behaal nie; probeer om die beste te lyk wat jy weet jy kan. Dit is nie ‘n kompetisie nie, want niemand is jy nie.

V: Vertel ons oor jou kinderjare en waar jy grootgeword het.

A: Ek het grootgeword in ‘n klein dorpie, Makwassie, totdat ek nege was en ons Kempton Park toe getrek het. Ek was baie gelukkig om te kon opgroei in ‘n liefdevolle en ondersteunende huis en gesin. My pa is ‘n dominee, my was ‘n onderwyseres en my broer is ‘n CA. My ma is in 2014 oorlede.

V: Jy het die knoop deurgehaak met Afrikaanse sanger Bouwer Bosch laat in 2015 met ‘n ou, verlate fabriek as die perfekte agtergrond vir die sprokiestroue. Hoe is die getroude lewe vir jou?

A: Al wat ek kan sê is dat ek so dankbaar is om met my beste vriend getroud te wees.

V: Wat beplan jy vir 2017?

A: Weer baie praatjies, en films – en in hierdie wêreld is enigiets moontlik, so laat ons sien!

FOR THE FILLET • 1.5 kg beef fillet • 1 tbsp beef tallow, melted • Himalayan salt and black pepper • 1 cup Dijon mustard • 3 tbsp pink peppercorns, lightly crushed

FOR THE SALSA VERDE • 30 g rocket, chopped • 30 g dill, chopped • 30 g basil leaves, chopped • 2 anchovies, chopped • 1 tsp Dijon mustard • 1 tbsp capers, chopped • juice of ½ lemon • ½ cup extra virgin olive oil • Himalayan salt and black pepper

mustard and capers. Stir in the lemon juice and olive oil. Season.

• To serve: Slice the fillet and serve with the salsa verde.

METHOD • Preheat the oven to 200 °C. Brush fillet with melted tallow and season well.

Place a large frying pan over a high heat, sear the fillet on all sides until browned, then remove and set aside.

• Brush fillet with mustard and roll in pink peppercorns, place on a lined baking tray and roast for 20 minutes.

Remove and allow to stand for 20 minutes before slicing.

Graad 8-kamp Die Graad 8-kamp is gehou vanaf 7 tot 8 Januarie. Lekker spanbouaktiwiteite is gedoen sodat hulle mekaar beter kon leer ken en die kamp is terdeë geniet.

1. Hennie Visser 90.1% (7 onderskeidings) 2. Annamé Geldenhuys 89.9% (7 onderskeidings) 3. Ettiene Mouton 89.1% (6 onderskeidings) 4. Eugene Conradie 86.1% (6 onderskeidings) Ettiene Mouton het ook ‘n Ministeriële toekenning ontvang as top presteerder in die Wes-Kaap in Ingenieursgrafika-en-Ontwerp met 99%. Hy is ook tweede in die Wes-Kaap in Meganiese Tegnologie met 96%.

Ons spog met ‘n 98,9% slaagsyfer en 92,5% van ons matrieks kwalifiseer vir verdere tersiëre studies. Daar was ook 57 A-vakgemiddeldes.

Their school blazers were formally handed over to each individual.

Emma Scriba (headgirl) said in her celebratory speech that a scholar of Paarl Girls’ High School was like being in an oyster and developing over a period of time into a shiny, beautiful and valuable pearl.

What made the day even more special was that this ceremony was held on the 141th birthday of the school on 20 January.

The theme for the celebrations were One for One (141). Sisterhood and caring for one another – never standing alone but always knowing there is a support structure.

Ons ystervrou, Kirsty Adams, is gekies vir die Senior Protea Vrouehokkiespan. Dit is ‘n ongelooflike prestasie vir ‘n sewentienjarige. #GimTrots

Graad 8-leerder Anke Claassen was gedurende die vakansie deel van die WP o.14A-skaakspan wat aan die Suid Afrikaanse Junior Skaakkampioenskappe in Johannesburg deelgeneem het. Hulle span het goud gewen en is gekroon as SA Kampioene.

Sy is aangewys as die beste speler op bord 10 in die o.14 afdeling. Ons is baie trots en sien uit daarna om haar spel fyn dop te hou en te ondersteun hierdie jaar.

Afrigter Altus Wessels, Kirsty Adams en skoolhoof Eddie Bateman.

Gimmie Ashwin Abrahams Ons is trots op Gimmie Ashwin Abrahams. Dit is sy 5de jaar in die Paarl Jeug Inisiatief se ‘Good Company’-program. Hy is deur onderwysers genomineer om deel van die Good Company-program te wees omrede hulle spesiale eienskappe en soveel potensiaal in hom raakgesien het.

Verlede jaar het hy twee trofeë by die PJI se prysuitdeling verwerf.

Hierdie trofeë word toegeken aan ‘n jongmens in Graad 8-11 wat besondere leierseienskappe openbaar. Ashwin is tot dusver voorwaar ‘n jongman op wie almal kan staatmaak. Hy het ‘n positiewe invloed op die jongmense in die program en skroom nie om leiding te neem by verskeie aktiwiteite nie. Hy is deur die Paarlse Rotariërs op hulle RYLAkamp gestuur (RYLA: Rotarian Youth Leadership Award). Hy is tans die president van die ‘Good Company’ Interactklub. Hierdie program het baie modules en aktiwiteite wat hulle doen om jongmense te bemagtig en ‘n verskil in hul lewens te maak. Dit sluit in staptogte, uitstappies, vakansieprogramme, loopbaanbegeleiding, en vele meer.

Daar word elke jaar ‘n prysuitdeling gehou en hierdie jaar se gasspreker was Amy Kleinhans. Buiten die leierskapstrofee het hy ook die entrepre-neurskaptrofee ontvang.

Ashwin, jou Gim-familie glo en vertrou dat jy nog groot hoogtes gaan bereik in jou lewe en wens jou alles van die beste toe. #GimmieGuts #GimTrots
