Hierdie dogters het ook aan die Suid - Afrikaanse Kampioenskappe op Saterdag 27 Julie 2013 in Boksburg deelgeneem. Hierdie span is 1 ste in WesKaap en 12 de in Suid-Afrika. Woensdag 13 Februarie het 26 van Eikestad se swemmers by die Swartland gala hul harte uitgeswem en ons skool baie trots gemaak deur die trofee te ontvang vir die wenspan van die dag! Daar was 8 skole wat deelgeneem het. Ons het 12 eerste plekke, 12 tweede plekke en 10 derde de plekke behaal en ‘n hele paar rekords is ook deur Eikestad swemmers gebreek. Elske Louw en Jaco van Schalkwyk die 2 kapteine van die dag was baie trots om saam met hul span die trofee in ontvangs te neem!
Tydens die WP Stilwater Lewensredding Gala in Phisantekraal Dam (1 Desember) en Bellville Swembad (2 Desember) verower Jaco van Schalkwyk 8 goue medaljes vir O/12. Tydens die WP Stilwater Lewensredding Kampioenskappe in Phisantekraal Dam (26 Januarie) en Bellville Swembad (27 Januarie) verower Jaco 1 goue en 6 silwer medaljes vir O/12. Netbal bereik hoogtes: Ons is besonders trots op ons o/12- en o/13-netbalspanne wat gedurende die Top Skole netbaltoernooi tot die finale rondte in die Boland deurgedring het. Tydens die finale rondte op Saterdag, 8 Junie het die o/13-span ‘n derde plek in die finale rondte behaal en die o/12-span het as WesKaapwenners deurgedring na die nasionale kompetisie in Boksburg op Saterdag , 27 Julie. Laerskool Hendrik Louw
Baie geluk aan Jayde Nel (Graad 4) met sy goue medalje wat hy ontvang het by die Funakoshi Karate International Annual Competition wat in Grabouw gehou was. Hy het ook deel geneem aan die 3rd
Interschools Karate Championship by York Street Primary School. Hy het ‘n Kata en ‘n Kumite vir die seuns o/10 & o/11 gedoen en het twee bronze medaljes ontvang vir beide divisies.
Ruan Erasmus - het deelgeneem aan die seuns vrystyl (0/13) asook aan die presidente afdeling(46 – 50kg). Hy het onderskeidelik tweede en derde geeindig en ’n silwer en brons medalje ingepalm.
Op Saterdag, 08 Junie 2013, het William van Zyl (Gr 1) deelgeneem aan ‘n skaaktoernooi by Laerskool Rhenish in Stellenbosch. Hy het ‘n brons medalje ontvang vir sy 3de plek in die 0/8 afdeling. Veels Geluk!

DE HOOP GEE OM VIR ANDER “As jy baie omgee vir ander, bestee jou energie daaraan om mense te help wat regtig gehelp en gelukkig wil wees.” Smile Foundation het in samewerking met Laerskool De Hoop ‘n jong pasiëntjie met ’n ernstige gesigsgestremdheid geïdentifiseer wat finansiële ondersteuning gaan ontvang. Laerskool De Hoop gaan die glimlag op Bushle Kethani van Khayalitsha se gesiggie terugsit. Ons het Omgeeweek afgeskop met ‘n spreker van Smile Foundation, Leigh Ross. Sy is die Smile koördineerder van die Wes-Kaap. Sy het ons meer kom vertel oor die wonderlike bystand en hulp wat hulle aan jong pasiënte verleen en ook die verskil wat ons kan maak. ‘n Opregte dankie aan ieder en elk wat gedurende Omgeeweek ‘n hart vir ander gehad het. Elke bydrae, groot of klein, het gehelp om ons gemeenskap ‘n gelukkiger plek te maak.
Rugby talk met Toks ‘n Groep ouers van die Laerskool De Hoop het Woensdagaand 17 Julie, ‘n baie suksesvolle fondsinsameling ten bate van die skool aangebied. Die doel van die rugby-aand en wynveiling was om fondse in te samel vir die verbetering van bestaande fasiliteite by die skool. Toks van der Linde het ‘n insiggewende paneelbespreking met Duane Vermeulen, Tiaan Liebenberg, Louis Blom en Duitser Bosman oor rugby gelei. Rassie Erasmus, Hennie Bekker, Wessel Lightfoot en Beyers Truter was van die ander bekendes wat die aand bygewoon het en bygedra het tot die besonderse geleentheid. Verskeie kelders in die omgewing het goedhartig skenkings van hul uitsoekwyne gemaak. Dit het bygedra tot ‘n lewendige veiling wat wonderlik deur Tiny van Rensburg hanteer is. Johan Rademan het die gehoor vermaak met ‘n vinnige rugbyvasvra. Wynand Cillié, skoolhoof van Laerskool De Hoop, wil almal bedank vir hierdie inisiatief en hulle betrokkenheid. Die aand is baie goed ondersteun deur die ouers van die skool en die gemeenskap.

Hockey: During the long weekend five of our U/13 hockey players took part in the WP Regional Hockey Championships in Port Elizabeth. U13A Boy’s hockey team The Somerset College Prep U13A Boy’s hockey team won the Kenridge Day Night Festival at Maties on Friday2 August.
