A new neighbourhood with Christchurch at its heart

8

H A R T S TO N E

Hartstone is a new collection of homes in the heart of Christchurch, creating a place where modern living sits comfortably alongside the area’s established charm.

Fronting Barrack Road, Hartstone presents an impressive new streetscape, while thoughtfully landscaped public spaces enhance the development’s distinctive character and appeal.

Set within the popular Bargates neighbourhood, Hartstone has been carefully designed to feel like a natural extension of the local community. Attractive streets of terraced, semi-detached and detached houses and apartment buildings, draw inspiration from the character of the surrounding area, creating a timeless and welcoming environment.

Whether you’re taking your first step onto the property ladder, looking for more space for family life, or seeking a home that better suits your next chapter, Hartstone offers a choice of homes designed to grow with you. A welcoming new neighbourhood where community, connectivity and quality come together.

H A R T S TO N E

Hartstone: What’s in the name? As Hartstone marks a new chapter in the story of the Bargates area, it felt important for its name to reflect both the past and the future. The name Hartstone brings together two local references that pay tribute to the area’s rich industrial and cultural heritage. The first pays tribute to William Hart, who founded the Bargates watch and clock fusee chain factory in 1845, a key part of the area’s industrial heritage. 10

The second references the Druitt Stone, a historic local landmark uncovered during remedial works. The stone, which directly honours Herbert Druitt, a passionate local antiquarian who lived from 1876 to 1943, will be relocated and displayed in a prominent location within the development.

11

H A R T S TO N E

Diversity in harmony 12

Hartstone has been thoughtfully designed to sit in harmony with its surroundings while offering a diverse range of homes. The development includes one and twobedroom apartments, as well as two, three, four and five-bedroom houses. Drawing on the character of the local area, Hartstone showcases a traditional architectural language across its terraces, semi-detached and detached homes, and apartment buildings. Materials such as traditional red brick, off-white buff brick, render and grey slate roofs contribute to a timeless appearance, while sash-style windows, feature porches and chimney stacks add further character throughout the development. While rooted in traditional design, the architecture has been carefully considered to complement the surrounding built environment. Particular attention has been given to ensuring the development integrates seamlessly with existing streets and neighbouring properties at its boundaries.

At its heart sits a traditional High Street, where independent boutiques sit alongside well-known retailers, cafés and the popular weekly Christchurch street market. On the banks of the River Stour, Christchurch Quay provides a picturesque setting for riverside walks, boating, picnics and enjoying the open green spaces of The Quomps.

A laidback lifestyle 16

With its thriving café culture, independent restaurants and waterside dining spots, Christchurch offers a relaxed coastal lifestyle that continues to attract residents and visitors throughout the year.

17

Set on the coast where the Rivers Avon and Stour meet, Christchurch combines picturesque surroundings with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Rich in character and shaped by the water, its friendly sense of community and reassuring pace of life create a peaceful setting for an effortlessly laid-back way of life.

Just a short drive from Christchurch lies the New Forest National Park. Despite its name, the landscape is made up not only of woodland but also extensive heathland, ancient pasture and open countryside, creating one of southern England’s most treasured natural environments.

Countryside vistas and a beautiful coastline 18

Christchurch is surrounded by some of southern England’s most beautiful landscapes. Framed by the valleys of the Rivers Stour and Avon, the area offers lush floodplains, tranquil water meadows and scenic riverside walks that can be enjoyed throughout the year. Nearby nature reserves provide a haven for wildlife enthusiasts and birdwatchers alike.

19

Along the coast, Christchurch’s collection of award-winning Blue Flag beaches combine stretches of soft white sand, shingle bays and dramatic cliff-top views. Linked by the Christchurch Coastal Path, the coastline offers opportunities for walking, cycling and enjoying the area’s outstanding natural beauty. The countryside surrounding Christchurch remains carefully protected, helping to preserve its distinctive rural character while providing residents with an exceptional setting in which to live.

Home to history & heritage

H A R T S TO N E

With origins dating back to the 7th century, Christchurch has evolved into a town renowned for its wealth of beautifully preserved historic architecture. Originally known by its Saxon name, Twynham, meaning “the place between two rivers”, the town was renamed Christchurch following the construction of its magnificent priory in 1094. Today, Christchurch Priory is widely regarded as the longest parish church in England.

22

23

Christchurch is home to some of the country’s oldest surviving Norman buildings, including the historic Norman House within the grounds of Christchurch Castle – one of the finest examples of Norman domestic architecture in England. Other notable landmarks include Highcliffe Castle, a Grade I listed mansion built in the 1830s in the Romantic Gothic Revival style, and the Red House Museum, a former Georgian workhouse that later became the home of local philanthropist Herbert Druitt. In a remarkable link to this local heritage, The Druitt Stone was uncovered during work on the Hartstone site and will be preserved and proudly displayed within the development.

The Consumer Code for Home Builders

What it means for you as a buyer of an open market sale home at Hartstone The Consumer Code for Home Builders is a set of standards that all registered home builders must follow when marketing, selling and supporting new-build homes for open market sale. Its purpose is to ensure you are treated fairly, given clear information and fully supported throughout your home-buying journey. Buying a new home is one of the biggest investments you will make. The Code is designed to give you confidence by ensuring you understand exactly what you are purchasing, what service you should expect and what protections are in place should things not go to plan. What the Code means for you • When you purchase an open market new-build home covered by the Code at Hartstone, you benefit from a range of protections at every stage. Before you buy • Clear, honest advertising and sales information to help you make an informed decision. • Full details about your home, the development and the buying process. • A 14-day cooling-off period after reserving your home, giving you time to change your mind and receive your reservation fee back.

56

During the purchase • Transparent contracts and construction timelines. • Protection for your deposit should your builder be unable to complete your home. • Protection from high-pressure sales practices. After you move in • A dedicated after-sales service to assist with any issues. • Support for defects or “snagging” issues for a minimum of two years after completion. • Access to a clear complaints process should something not be right. • Independent support if you need it. • If a problem arises and you are unable to resolve it directly with us, the Code provides access to a free and independent dispute resolution service. This service will review your case and make a fair decision if your builder has not met the required standards, helping you reach a fair and impartial outcome. Our commitment to you At Aster, we are committed to following the principles of the Consumer Code for all our open market sale homes. This means you can expect transparency, fairness and support at every stage of your homebuying journey. If you ever have any questions – whether before you reserve, during your purchase or after you have moved in – our team is here to help and can be contacted at hartstone@aster.co.uk. Simply speak to a member of our team, who will be happy to help.
