SUPER NATURAL COLLECTION

Comprising five sustainable and super-natural textiles by Suzanne Tick, the Super Natural collection paves the way for more environmentally-conscious performance textiles—emphasizing natural, renewable, domestic, recycled, biodegradable and circular fiber systems wherever possible.

Inspired by our relationship with nature, Super Natural features a palette that finds harmony between the man-made and the organic—balancing warm and cool textures, black and white hues and the softer colors of nature with the more saturated colors of fashion. Combining craftsmanship with the durability of renewable materials, this collection weaves patterns and textures into comfortable, classic, and technical textiles to meet the needs of contract and hospitality spaces. Working in tandem with nature and its organizing powers, we take part of its system, presenting a collection that feels good and does good, too.

9

RUBRIC

Super Natural Collection

Inspired by nature’s organizing principles and referencing the constructions of classic Bauhaus weavings and the vibration of 1960’s Op art , Rubric’s multicolor block pattern plays with scale and repetition to create dynamic movement in an underlying grid — weaving the complex melanges of North American wool in the weft with a recycled cotton blend in the warp woven with natural fibers on a double beam loom. Rubric’s 6 colorways punctuate neutral wool gridlines with vivid cotton accents— for a soft, breathable, and vibrant textile that’s forgiving on furniture and comfortable for all seasons and climates.

11

BARBERPOLE BASKET

Super Natural Collection

Barberpole Basket explores classic woolen weave structures with a textural twist. Woven on a double-beam loom, color and materiality intertwine in contrasting tones— combining black and white cotton barberpole yarns, blended recycled cotton and domestic wool yarns for a balanced and dynamic surface. A tribute to the integrity and unique dyed quality of natural fibers, these 12 elegant colorways expand the diversity of Luum’s palette with a crafty, textured hand.

13

EVERYDAY BOUCLE

Super Natural Collection

Evoking timeless modern textiles, Everyday Boucle presents 22 colorways that take rich and nubby boucle texture to the next level with a circular recycled garment fiber story. Like Melange Check, Wool Fleck and Graph Speck, Everyday Boucle contains upcycled warp and weft yarns with the addition of a hyper-textural wool blend boucle. The pre- and post-consumer recycled wool, acrylic and polyester from apparel waste are shredded down and re-spun into richly colored melange yarns, taking color from the original garments without the need for additional water, dyestuffs or energy. Everyday Boucle displays a dimensional surface in classic and contemporary tones, bringing softness and warmth to any interior.

15

CONTRAST SLUB

Super Natural Collection

A dense and substantial textile with a luxurious look and cool hand, Contrast Slub displays an organic, multi-color and stain-repellent surface that is smooth to the touch and highly upholsterable. With viscose and linen in the warp and chunky cotton in the weft, this textile features a naturally irregular slub effect and an intriguing juxtaposition of color and materiality — highlighting the character of natural materials through its 16 stunning colorways.

17

BIOTOPE

Super Natural Collection

Joining Grid State and Ecotone, Biotope is the third 100% recycled, biodegradable polyester textile in the Luum line, providing more design solutions with its bleach-cleanable and multipurpose-use properties. Biotope, a word synonymous with habitat, refers back to traditional basketweaves using a new sustainable technology. Recycled cationic and disperse polyester fibers are enhanced with a bio-catalyst additive at the molecular level, accelerating biodegradation in anaerobic environments. In the landfill, the additive attracts microorganisms to break down the polymer chains. After approximately 3.5 years, biodegradation is complete and only naturally occurring elements remain.

19

100% RECYCLED GARMENT WASTE TEXTILES

Woven at a European woman-owned mill engrained in a long tradition of fiber recycling, Everyday Boucle, Melange Check, Wool Fleck and Graph Speck yarns contain 100% recycled wool, polyester and acrylic fiber.

Bales of discarded apparel and post consumer textile waste are sorted by color and fiber type, shredded to the fiber level, blended and then spun back into yarns. Each yarn hue is artfully created using a variety of individual colors to achieve a melange effect, taking color from the original garments without the need for additional water, dyestuffs or energy.

Each design starts with weaving hand woven prototypes on our loom. These structures are then manifested into commercially tested products for the Architecture and Design industry.

21

100% RECYCLED BIODEGRADABLE TEXTILES

Biotope, Grid State and Ecotone advance the conversation around sustainability, lessen impact on the environment and provide more design solutions with their bleach-cleanable and multipurpose-use properties.

Recycled polyester fibers are enhanced with a bio-catalyst additive at the molecular level, accelerating the polyester’s ability to biodegrade in anaerobic environments. When the product reaches landfill, the additive attracts microorganisms and allows them to begin breaking down the polymer chains. After approximately 3.5 years, biodegradation is complete and only naturally occurring elements remain.

25

DOMESTIC WOOL TEXTILES

Rubric, Barberpole Basket, Mitered and Equilux contain North American wool that is sourced, dyed and spun using domestic sheep’s wool, which can contribute to LEED points. Wool is a rapidly renewable, biodegradable, inherently stain resistant and fire retardant fiber.

27

RECYCLED POLYESTER DIRECT GLUE WALLCOVERINGS

Wallcoverings are a powerful design tool that can make a feeling in a space. Based on sheen and texture levels, you can create an essence in a room that buffers or amplifies light and sound through sensory perception. Direct Glue Wallcoverings like Dhurga, Soft Ridge, Impression, Twining and Rhetoric have a balance of matte and shiny elements, bringing energy and tactility into a space using a combination of recycled polyester fibers.

THE OBSCURA COLLECTION

The Obscura collection—from the Latin word for a darkened enclosure— is an innovative PVC-free polyester film system for use on new and existing architectural glass, plexiglass and steel surfaces. Applied in horizontal bands, Obscura provides privacy in incremental dimensions at various heights in a range of refined, tinted neutrals.

Obscura offers an elegant design solution for minimal and specific coverage with two patterns, Horizon and Perspective, that will satisfy building codes which increasingly require glass with markings, particularly in healthcare and corporate environments.

Strengthening the qualities of natural light with quiet ombres and pattern breaks, Suzanne Tick captures fleeting visual moments and translates them for specific uses, shaping the user experience for a variety of settings. The result is both airy and spatial, providing privacy when needed in a sustainable, cost effective approach.
