Tianyu Guo is a second-year student at the University of Southern California School of Architecture.
Raised in Jinan and Los Angeles, Tianyu developed an interest in the transformation of light and shadow and visual representation in different dimensions. In her work, Tianyu focuses more on the interaction between people and space, and how the architecture interacts with the surrounding environment. She believes architecture is not only the shelter for people to live in but also an immortal monument of a city’s history.
Outside of the field of architecture, Tianyu is interested in the artistic expression of different creative mediums, such as photography, ceramics, installation, and painting.

William Virgil & Kristoff Fink Individual Work Sci-ArcHyper detailed design methodology plays an important role in the product design.
Earring as a daily decorated object in people’s life always match peopole’s outfit of the day. Different from the ordinary earrings, in this project, I try to pursue the organic shape of curves in two hard material: metal and glass in order to build the contrast between material and the shape of earring.

The idea of industry 4.0 and intelligent manufacturing is gradually becoming the reality. With the replacement of traditional labor force, robots have become the main labor force in the near future.
Fabric, as the most common source in fashion industry, is always dynamic and creating different pattern. As the technology fastly developed, the manufactruing in fashion industry has changed a lot. However, robot, the product of artificial intelligence, is always regarded as a coldblooded object. With the stereotype of artificial intelligent product, I got the inspiration of this project: giving the high-tech product the soul of hand-made.

Kumaran Parthiban & Lilith Ren Individual Work Sci-ArcExploring parallel realities of physical and digital through procedural modeling and augmented reality of “Gelato“ as the start, I experiments with the shape, form, and surface texture of Gelato and learn to simulate and customize them as 3D volumes.
Transforming it beyond a simple dessert and re-imagining it as objects at various scales and gradually increasing in complexity as it passes through the multiple mediums.

Architecture can be manipulated, re-drawn and re-framed, the reality from people’s life can also be re-organized.
Taking the inspiration from glass artwork by Birnur Derya Geylani, I created this glass scene. In the common sense, glass is stable and fragile. However, in this project, I try to reflect the variablity that glass material has.
