COMPANY PROFILE COMPANY PROFILE

Surrounded by forests, meadows, and nature, THUN‘s offices and production facilities are located right by the river in a natural reserve belonging to the town of Ennepetal in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Here, a team consisting of roughly 50 skilled employees handles the production of up to several ten thousand bicycle components per day. The company has been run as a family business since its foundation in 1919. Everyday business is strictly process and KPI driven with the entire production being managed with lean concepts and tools and advanced MES software. Cutting-edge technology and powerful validation methods like optical and sensory 3D measurement are used to guarantee the quality of any product leaving production. THUN’s sophisticated quality and process management is certified as per ISO 9001. Due to an excellent production and supply capacity, THUN is capable of producing and shipping orders in a matter of only a few days.

ABOUT RUMBA

ECO-DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS RUMBA has been developed along the lines of our internal eco-design, circular design, and social design criteria and features the following related attributes: • All composite parts are made from a material with a particularly high recycling content (30%).

The carbon footprint of this material is 50% lower than the carbon footprint of the standard material we use.

• Optionally, we are offering ball bearings from Germany (as opposed to ball bearings from China), which have the potential to significantly reduce our transport emissions (CCP [Scope 3]) once customers choose this option.

• Repairability: The ball bearings can be exchanged in such a way that allows for the cups to be reused.

• The production/assembly takes place in cooperation with a workshop for people with disabilities.

The facility we partner with is a modern dual-service organisation for vocational rehabilitation.

• 1× Composite sleeve* • Spacers* in different dimensions (see technical specifications) and customizable quantities based on individual customer needs (spacers can be purchased separately from RUMBA or as part of a set including RUMBA and a particular number of spacers)

*Even though these parts appear to be pre-assembled when unpacking the BB-set, they are, in fact, loose parts.

RUMBA is a bottom-bracket set (BB-set) that we offer as part of our premium selection of BB-sets. It features external ball bearings and is designed to accommodate cranksets with an integrated spindle.
