Conferences & Exhibitions

Due structural changes in our operations THT have decided to end distribution activities via RT Instruments in North America. With effect from 5th April 2021 THT Inc will handle all responsibilities for installation, training, manufacturer’s warranties and ongoing customer support.

The restrictions on travel and social distancing resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic continue to effect on the number of conferences and exhibitions we can attend in 2021. Our online meeting calendar will be updated as new dates are confirmed.

We are in the process of setting up a new office in Clarksburg, NJ. In the meantime USA customers can continue to place orders directly with THT Inc., Zionsville Indiana . info@thtusa.com +1 609-454-6062

Over the last year we have increased our online webinar programme. We hosted a successful Virtual Chemical Users Meeting in January. The event attracted 130 delegates - if you were unable to attend, contact us for a recording of the presentations. Future webinars will be listed on the dedicated section of our website.

For telephone support, please call our UK head office Tel: +44 1908 646800.

Job Vacancy - North America We are looking to recruit a new Regional Manager. With support from the UK, this person will manage our activities in North America, leading sales, business development, technical support and installations. This is an exciting opportunity to become a senior employee within THT.

Webinars

Our next scheduled webinar takes place 13th April in partnership with CISP. The presentation “Advanced ARC data analysis using CISP Thermal Safety Series Software” will be given by Arcady Kossoy, founder and director of CISP. He has wealth of experience of methods used for interpreting data from thermal analysis, adiabatic and reaction calorimetry. Register for the webinar here.

Ideally, we are looking for someone who has experience with our instruments and how they are applied.

March 2021 Newsletter Chemical Applications ARC RDCS: Rapid Data Collection System

ARCCal+ v2.0.1 Free Update

For users demanding increased data collection speeds, an upgrade option for new and existing users. The Rapid Data Logging Device (RDCS) connects to a separate laptop and is triggered by the ARC due to Temperature or Temperature Rate thresholds. This ensures data size is kept manageable because only the rapid part of the reaction is recorded. One pressure channel, one voltage channel and four temperature channels can be recorded at logging rates of up to 1kHz. This is useful for thermal runaway pressure measurements. The pressure test can show a pressure wave “spike” during cell decomposition which is not always detectable with slower data logging rates The hardware comprises of • Electronic controller / data logger • Labview based interface for test setup and data acquisition • 3000psi pressure transducer (customer specified range also available) • 4 x thermocouple inputs with N-type thermocouples • All necessary cabling • System controller: notebook PC Intel Processor, Windows 10

The latest version of ARCCal+ is now available for download to all THT ARC users. The update includes access to more Temperature and Pressure plots, with choice of either linear or logarithmic scales. The TMR prediction feature has also been improved for ease of use. Read the full release notes here Download instructions: ARCCal+ requires Windows 64-bit, Windows 7 and above. Email us to request your copy. Please include you instrument model and serial number.

µRC Polymerisation

Order ARC Spares Online

Recently we have demonstrated the use the µRC micro reaction calorimeter to study polymerisation. Heat flow was recorded in isothermal mode at 90°C of commercially available MAA (methyl methacrylate) supplied with 30ppm inhibitor MEHQ (4-methoxyphenol).

Our recently updated website allows quick purchase of ARC spares including test cells (bombs) and replacement thermocouples. In addition you can find spares for our µRC and RSD products

The instrument clearly identified the Polymerisation Induction Time (PIT) and Polymerisation Zone.
