Reflections

As I reflect back on this last year, I can’t help but be incredibly grateful for this organization and all of you for your steadfast support. It has been a year full of changes. Through all of them, Thrive continues to maintain and grow its three main programs. This is only possible because of board members, donors, volunteers and partners who wholeheartedly believe in this organization’s mission and vision. One of our greatest strengths at Thrive is our ability to draw people into the mission and have them stay with us across a variety of roles. We have past board members and Thrive pioneers who are now monthly donors, volunteers who transition to board roles, and Thrive students who we once served that are now Teen Center volunteers and mentors. It’s a powerful thing to be a part of something that is making such a huge difference in such a crucial time in life. Thank you for your ongoing trust and support. I look forward to continuing this mission with all of you in 2024! With Sincere Gratitude, Stefani Morgan Executive Director

Thrive Chelan Valley’s mission is to serve, empower and advocate for Lake Chelan valley youth. Our vision is that all Chelan and Manson youth would have everything they need to reach their full potential.

OUR PROGRAMS

Thrive Cares

Thrive Mentoring

Thrive Teen Center

Thrive Cares creates opportunities for the community to break down barriers and meet immediate needs for youth, like warm clothing, food on the weekends, athletic gear/fees, hygiene items, blankets, and more!

Thrive Mentoring is a program that connects local middle & high school students to safe and caring adult mentors in the Lake Chelan valley. This program inspires personal growth, provides access to resources, and brings awareness to our community.

Our flagship program provides a safe and relaxing environment for teens to enjoy a snack, study, socialize, listen to music, play games, eat dinner, and connect with positive adults. They also have access to free coat/clothing & hygiene closets.

Thrive Cares was established in 2009 by people who saw kids without proper clothing, food, and other basic needs in our local schools. They also saw these kids wanting to participate in the same activities as their peers, but they lacked the funds or resources to do so. Through our amazing donors and volunteers, we have filled over 300 requests and handed out thousands of weekend meal bags to local students.

Thrive Mentoring is a program that connects local youth to safe and caring adult mentors in the Lake Chelan valley. We aim to inspire and support personal growth for participants by providing opportunities for mentor/mentee pairs to consistently spend quality time together and establish relationships built upon trust and a safety net of open communication.

Our Thrive Teen Center (at the Lake Chelan United Methodist Church) is a safe space for local middle and high school students to play games, work on homework, listen to music, and eat a meal together. We have a coat closet, clothing closet, and hygiene closet that are stocked through donations and are free to the students. We also started Workshop Wednesdays in 2023 (sewing, cookie decorating, website design, etc.). These are free classes for the students.

BACK TO SCHOOL FAIR2023

Our 2023 Back to School Fair was a success! We gave away about 350 backpacks filled with school supplies the day of the event. Our partnerships with both Chelan and Manson schools allowed us to deliver additional backpacks to family homes, bringing our total backpacks provided to over 400! Our sponsors, volunteers, and resource booths are what made this event truly triumphant.

FORMAL Ann1st ual DRESS

GIVEAWAY Thanks to Lizzy Knight for bringing the idea to us, we had our first Formal Dress Giveaway last year! It was absolutely priceless watching the students try on dresses & pick out their favorites. Thank you to our community for stepping up & donating the dresses & Chelan’s Todos United Club for volunteering at the event! We gave away 32 dresses! We’ve had more donations since, & have 150+ dresses for them to choose from in 2024!

Tabatha Mires Manson School District Superintendent

As the year draws to a close, it is an opportune moment to reflect on the impactful collaboration between THRIVE and the Manson School District. This partnership has significantly contributed to the well-being of the student community and their families. THRIVE generously provided numerous winter coats, snow pants, hats, and gloves, ensuring that students were well-equipped to face the cold weather. The organization played a crucial role in stocking pantry food for counselors in both school buildings, directly aiding in meeting the nutritional needs of students. In a remarkable display of support, THRIVE assisted a family who lost their possessions in a fire by supplying essential furniture and clothing, demonstrating the partnership’s commitment to emergency aid. THRIVE’s contributions extended to various aspects of student life by providing clothing suitable for school, concerts, club competitions, senior presentations, and athletic events. This initiative significantly aided students in participating in diverse school activities with confidence. Recognizing the importance of mental health, THRIVE helped fund virtual counseling sessions for some Manson students, thereby addressing critical psychological and emotional needs. The partnership successfully organized the Annual Back to School Fair, which became a cornerstone event in preparing students for the academic year. A notable highlight was the inaugural Formal Dress Giveaway event, an initiative that provided formal attire to students, fostering a sense of pride and belonging during special school occasions. In summary, the partnership between THRIVE and the Manson School District has been a beacon of support, inclusivity, and care for the student community. The diverse range of assistance, from basic necessities to mental health support, underscores the commitment of both entities to nurturing a supportive and thriving educational environment. The year has been marked by significant accomplishments, and the foundation laid promises even greater collaborative efforts in the years to come.

I met Mags when I taught her in 3rd grade. We clicked instantly and continued to stay in touch even after she moved on to the next grade. We made it officially official a few years ago through Thrive. Thrive Mentoring offers us a space to continue to grow and foster our relationship. Through their unwavering support and exciting activities like Pumpkin Painting at Chelan Valley Farm, sip and paint nights and tubing at Echo Valley, Maggie and I have developed a bond that will never be broken. Mentoring has created a safe place for us to build the beautiful relationship we have today. Being a mentor has changed my life for the better. Mags is an incredible young woman, and I am so beyond blessed to have her in my life

Kendra & Maggie Manson Mentoring Pair

When I was in 3rd grade I met Mrs.Farnsworth, and she has been my best friend since then. I didn’t have the best friends and I was a super anxious person, but I knew that I could always go to Mrs.Farnsworth for support and someone I could trust. To this day I know that if I ever need anything or anyone to talk to I have Mrs. Farnsworth. She always supports me at my games, fair for FFA, and other events I am involved in. Joining Thrive has given us so many fun memories and a place to check up on each other and grow our relationship. I am so incredibly thankful to have someone like Mrs. Farnsworth as my mentor and I don’t know what I would do without her!

Brad Wilson Lake Chelan School District Superintendent

Our district feels very fortunate to have THRIVE Chelan Valley as a partner in serving our students. On a weekly basis, they support over 100 students with weekend meal bags. They also have over 100 students accessing the positive and supportive environment at the Teen Center which includes activities, games, homework help, free hygiene products, and dinner. This is in addition to the amazing contributions THRIVE makes to students on an individual basis that include heaters, blankets, clothing, virtual counseling, formal dress giveaways, and the epic Annual Back to School Fair that helps positively jumpstart students' school year. The team at THRIVE continually amazes me with their resourcefulness and willingness to make the extra effort in order to help students, whether it be one or many. Thank you THRIVE Chelan Valley!

Aubrey & Jenna Chelan Mentoring Pair

Aubrey and I have really been enjoying getting to know each other these last few months. Being Aubrey's mentor and spending time with her has become one of my favorite parts of my week. Aubrey is a very sweet, intelligent, funny, hard working and caring person. We enjoy chatting about school, all the sports she is trying, her family and friends, and I even got to see her play the clarinet in concert! The more time we spend together the more she has opened up and shared about her life, goals, and everything in between. Aubrey says that it was really fun getting to meet me the first time (we were at High Trek for a Thrive Together event), and that her favorite memory of our time together so far has been the first time she came over to my house and got to meet my dog and cat (who both loved her immediately)! We are both looking forward to spending more time together, participating in more Thrive Together events (always so much fun), and continuing to grow our mentor/mentee relationship!

As we look back on 2023, we had some unique challenges. Luckily, thanks to generous supporters throughout the years, we had enough to cover those extra expenses that arose. This next year, we will focus on striving to continue to grow our mechanisms of financial support, so that we can continue to meet the growing needs of youth in the valley.
