Reflections

As I reflect on this past year, what stands out most are the incredible students and volunteers we had the privilege of working with, the unwavering support from local businesses and organizations, and the overwhelming generosity of our donors. Each one played a vital role in helping us carry out our mission and make a meaningful impact.

As we continue to grow our three core programs, we remain deeply committed to the original vision that inspired the founding of this organization. At the same time, we recognize the importance of staying flexible and responsive to the evolving needs of today’s students. Our goal is to honor the past while continually adapting to serve our youth in the most effective and compassionate ways possible. Thank you for joining us on this journey and for continually showing up for our Manson and Chelan kids. We couldn’t do what we do without all of you!

Thrive Chelan Valley’s mission is to serve, empower and advocate for Lake Chelan valley youth. Our vision is that all Chelan and Manson youth would have everything they need to reach their full potential.

OURPROGRAMS

Thrive Cares creates opportunities for the community to break down barriers and meet immediate needs for youth, like warm clothing, food on the weekends, athletic gear/fees, hygiene items, blankets, and more!

Thrive Mentoring is a program that connects local middle & high school students to safe and caring adult mentors in the Lake Chelan valley. This program inspires personal growth, provides access to resources, and brings awareness to our community.

Thrive TeenCenter

Our flagship program provides safe and relaxing environments for teens to enjoy a snack, study, socialize, listen to music, play games, eat dinner, and connect with positive adults. They also have access to free coat/clothing & hygiene closets.

Our 2024 Back to School Fair was a huge success! We had the fair at Manson Middle/High School this year for the first time. We were able to serve similar numbers for Chelan families, and increase our Manson numbers. We plan to alternate locations back and forth each year. We are beyond thankful for this year ’ s sponsors, volunteers, resource booths, & both school districts for being so gracious and welcoming.

FORMAL DRESSA2nd nnual GIVEAWAY

Thanks to Lizzy Knight for bringing this idea to us in 2023, we had our 2nd Annual Formal Dress Giveaway in 2024! This has been such an amazing way to connect the community with what students need. And a valuable way to finally make extra space in your closet! Special thanks to Chelan’s Todos United Club for volunteering at the event! We gave away 30 dresses! We’ve had more donations since, & have 200+ dresses for students to choose from in 2025!

OUT & ABOUT

2024 was a year of spreading the news about Thrive~ letting students and families know where they can get the help they need, and how community members can get involved/ help us with our mission. If there was an event in the valley, we were probably there!

As the middle school counselor for Manson School District, I can say without hesitation that Thrive Chelan Valley is the nonprofit we rely on most to meet our students' needs in creative and meaningful ways.

For years, Thrive has consistently led and partnered with local schools to execute the annual Back to School Fair, which this year took place at Manson High School. This was a game-changer for our families, as it helped ease transportation and logistical challenges. Students were able to access school supplies, backpacks, and community resources, ensuring they started the school year on the right foot.

From addressing basic needs—such as winter gear, athletic items, snacks, and weekend food— to providing essential wraparound support like mentors and transportation, Thrive consistently goes above and beyond what the school budget can offer. Their recent launch of the Manson Teen Center has been especially impactful, offering dozens of students weekly after-school academic support, a warm meal, and clothing/hygiene assistance, all made possible by the generosity of donors, volunteers, and Thrive staff. Additionally, many of our middle and high school students have been connected with safe, caring adults through Thrive’s Mentoring program, and we are already seeing the positive outcomes of this vital support.

Thrive has also played a crucial role in supporting other key initiatives within our small, rural school district, including the Manson Hope Squad program. This winter, Thrive generously provided the Chelan Teen Center space for both the Manson and Chelan Hope Squads to host a student leadership retreat. During this retreat, students from both schools came together to plan our Take Hope to the Hoop Night, an event dedicated to raising awareness about youth mental health.

In addition, Thrive has been present at several important student events this year, such as Unity Day and Hope Week, where they shared valuable resources with students. Through these events, Thrive reminded our students that they are valued and important to our community, and that there are abundant resources available to help them reach their full potential.

In summary, the collaboration between Thrive and the Manson School District has been a powerful force of support, inclusivity, and care for our student community. The broad range of assistance—from basic necessities to comprehensive wraparound services—shows the deep commitment both organizations share in fostering a nurturing and thriving educational environment. This year has been filled with meaningful accomplishments, and the strong foundation we’ve built promises even greater collaborative efforts in the years to come.

“I’ve never wanted kids of my own, but I’ve always known I was meant to be a professional sidekick to one. The cool aunt, the chaotic good big sister, the “let’s eat ice cream for dinner but also talk about your goals” kind of mentor. The Thrive Mentorship program handed me that dream gig on a silver platter

Kai&Farah

And somehow, they paired me with the exact right kid. We’re both a little rebellious, a lot ambitious, and packed with way too many stories for one conversation. We come from beautifully complex, intersectional backgrounds and somehow, our shared weirdness just clicked We’re like matching socks in a drawer full of mismatched ones: a little surprising, a little loud, but perfectly matched.

We’ve become a safe haven for each other a duo of gentle troublemakers. And while I signed up to be a guide, I’m pretty sure I’m learning just as much from him as he is from me. ” ~Farah

Working h a rewarding experience as a school e delicate topics and support student d indirectly, having the Thrive resourc able. This year Thrive and its volunteers have jumped in to support students in tutoring, being sure kids have the clothes and hygiene supplies they need, helping kids to access opportunities like club conferences and drivers education, along with purchasing simple items like alarm clocks, that will help them get up and out the door for school and work. We’ve partnered with Thrive to be sure access to food throughout the week isn’t a barrier and we’re so grateful to the volunteers that pack food bags that our kids are able to take home each weekend.

Our middle school students feel so welcome and cared for at the teen center and it’s because they provide a safe, warm and inviting environment for kids to have fun, be themselves and connect with their friends. What a gift to have this spot right here in our small town! I couldn’t possibly put into words all the ways that we’ve seen this program lift our kids up, but I’m certain and appreciative that with both Jennie and Stef at the helm, we will continue to see more greatness unfold for the kids in this valley.

As we look back on the 2024 financials, we continue to be amazed by the generosity of our community. It was a great year financially, and because of that, we were able to supply summer weekend meal bags, open the Manson Teen Center, and increase our reserves so we can continue supporting our local youth for many years to come, no matter what may come up for our kids.

Looking ahead to 2025...
