There is no denying that a beautiful body and face can make a statement without a word. Many of us are not as fortunate to have a beautiful appearance, and are not able to project our beautiful inner self without a word, especially as a first impression.

Today people do not just want to be healthy and fit, but also attractive! However, as the saying goes, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!” and there are no standards to measure.

Face Lift Procedures Dr. Jay typically performs facelift surgery under deep sedation and local tumescent anesthesia. He will make incisions inside the hairline at the temple, in front of the ear, then around the earlobe and behind the ear, ending at the hairline. Excess skin is removed and sagging muscles and connective tissues are tightened. In some cases, fatty deposits are removed from beneath the chin and neck. Incisions are closed by small absorbable sutures.

The pain is usually only moderate and patients hardly ever complain of severe pain. The pain usually subsides an 2-4 days.

QuickLift : This is the most common procedure done by Dr. Jay at La Belle. This sceintifically known as “Modified Subcutaneous Musculo Aponeurotic System”(SMAS) Lift” • Less invasive form of face lift surgery compared to the traditional face lift • Very short recovery time • Very little pain • No bandages or drains • Walk in-walk out procedure • Takes about 2 hrs • Done entirely under local anesthesia and sedation • No sutures to be removed • Significantly less complications • Results last many years • Often combined with other facial cosmetic procedures, such as neck lift, Forehead or Brow lift and Cheek or Chin Implants Necklift: The fact that people usually tend to show the first signs of aging in their necks often leads them to consider a lower facelift or a neck lift. This involves tightening the skin and muscles in the neck and jawline. Liposuction alone may help the problem if significant fat is present beneath the chin. For conditions that include sagging tissues, a lift is also needed.

The procedure usually begins with liposuction in the neck and jowl regions. Then, operating through incisions around the ear and behind the chin, the surgeon lifts and tightens the neck muscle (Submentoplasty) to rejuvenate the neck contour. Any excess

skin is removed from around the ear. The result is a smoother and tighter neck and jawline. Neck lift surgery is typically performed as an outpatient basis under I.V. sedation and local anesthesia. Liposuction is often performed simultaneously to enhance the outcome. Frequently, patients will also choose to have chin augmentation to improve their facial profile . Chin augmentation can be done in many ways which include fat injections, or an implant. This is a wonderful procedure for those desiring an improved neck contour without having a traditional facelift. It is ideally suited for people with a double chin and sagging skin in the rest of the lower face. The patient will usually need a week for recovery.

This is a great operation. However, in patients with excessively loose skin and jowling, a face lift may also be required and may easily be combined.

Chin and Cheek Enhancement: Cosmetic chin surgery is the technique of reshaping your chin or cheeks to achieve the desired esthetic result. This is a Volume replacement surgery.

The skin over the face is similar to a drape. The shape of the face is determined by the underlying skeletal framework. In some individuals, this framework is not as pronounced as in other individuals and they may appear to have a flattened face or small, recessed chin. We are able to add facial implants to the facial skeleton to accentuate the areas of the cheek bone or chin. By performing these skeletal augmentations, the doctor is able to re窶電rape and tighten the skin of the face. This provides a more healthy and youthful appearance without the need for a more extensive skeletal lift procedure.

How are chin or cheek implants done?

Many people have a chin that is just too small for their face or a flat cheek bone. When one has a lack of chin projection, the face is weakened. This can also make the nose look longer than it really is. For this reason, many patients will seek surgery to improve the appearance of the chin. A small incision is made either underneath the chin or inside the mouth. A sterile implant, similar to the consistency of a natural chin, is placed in front of the bone to increase the projection of the chin. The implant is secured and the incision is sutured and closed. Chin augmentation is also commonly combined with the suturing of the muscles of the neck (platysmoplasty) and liposuction from under the chin and from the neck.

Similarly, cheeks can also be augmented with synthetic implants to increase the projection or to fill in the bone deficit. Cheek implants are placed through a small incision in the mouth with no visible scars. Immediate results are evident. The operation can also greatly enhance the results of a face lift.

How Will I Look After?

Some swelling and bruising can be expected and usually subsides within the 7-10 days. Mild discomfort can easily be controlled with medications prescribed by your surgeon, in most cases. After healing, the skin drapes smoothly over the implants. The implants themselves conform to the bone and usually are undetectable. The added projection of the chin results in significant improvement which is especially apparent in profile.

He has two Children, daughter Anita Gouri, DDS now practicing Peditric Dentistry in Lafayette and Baton Rouge, and a son Ash Jayagopal, PhD, a faculty in Biomedical Engineering dept in Vanderbilt University in Nashville TN.
