ArkLaTex Unknown Bilbo Baggins Pub It’s older than Google.
Download Our App Today!
In fact, it’s older than most that frequent it still. Much older than the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy making Bilbo Baggins a household name and meme that will be around long after the movies are forgotten. Most have come and gone in Bossier, especially on the Highway 80 strip. Yet Bilbo’s still stands strong. It’s one of the things Bossier is known for. B-52’s and Bilbo’s, both old in age yet still so full of life. In fact you might just be able to get a B-52 at Bilbo’s, just not the Stratofortress. It has created regulars because of its feel of home. Created life long friendships because of the atmosphere. Created memories still shared on social media today, memories that are nearly 40 years old. Bilbo Baggins Pub in Bossier City is an iconic structure. One that is easily describable for most who grew up around the area. Opened in 1981, Bilbo’s has changed ownership three times, yet remained in the same family with the same idea. A local pub where you can go to relax. A local sports bar where you can enjoy drinks with old friends and drinks with new friends. A few things have changed, but the core idea is still there. Bilbo’s has added great food to their menu. Even during the peak of the COVID shutdown, they provided the community with curbside plate pickup with dishes that were cooked with love, that same love our Bossier elders used to cook for us in the past. They are part of our community, they always have been. Especially for my generation who grew up with them. Around them. And one thing remains the same as it was in the early 80’s, they are still there for us. My only hope is they always will be. If you need something to do, they are having a Thanksgiving Eve Bash. Plenty of games, prizes, and memories to make. by Barry Bagerneth Check back here every week for more ArkLaTex Events & Unknown!

As a young man, he found love. He met Ollie Marie Barmore. They married and achieved over 52 years of marital bliss and raising three boys, in Elm Grove, LA. In the early days, James, quite the tough-guy, loved to box. He actually entered numerous boxing matches on a semi-professional basis. One of his favorite past times, was gathering the boys around and ixing up old cars. More than anything, however, “Pops” loved gathering the entire family around and playing music with all their guitars! He is survived by: his adoring wife, Marie; sons, Jerry, Terry, and James “Jim” Manshack, Jr.; grandchildren, Dillon Manshack, Kristen White, Terry Manshack, Jr., Kacey Manshack, along with two great-grandchildren. He will certainly be missed by all.

Fellowship is founded upon the person and work of the LORD Jesus Christ alone, to the satisfaction of God the Father, revealed in the heart by the Spirit of grace. Where there is not this oneness, there is NO fellowship. Again in 1 John 1:6 we read “If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in darkness, we lie and do not the truth.” Many profess to have fellowship, and yet continue to walk in darkness (blindness, unbelief, and unconvinced still of the unrighteousness of their own works), and ‘do not the truth,’ bowing to the commands of Christ who is the truth, to renounce their own works as evil, and come to HIM alone in faith and walk in HIM who is the LIGHT, without whose blood shed unto death and righteousness imputed by God the Father, are yet in darkness. True fellowship is the fruit of the work of Christ whereby they were “reconciled unto God in one body by the cross!” Ephesians 2:1 SHREVEPORT GRACE CHURCH-2970 BAIRD RD. ack when Lake Bistineau was salvania free, time was spent wisely on the water, it was springtime and the bass were in full spawn. In a 12ft Gator Pirogue, I skimmed across the channel and started casting. As I neared open country slough, 6 ft was the water depth and spaced apart was about 15 big reefed cypress trees. Fishing my top water black and silver rapala with 12 lb test, I made 10 throws,1 throw per tree and caught 10 bass one after another. Two of them 6 pounds each and the last one that's in the picture weighing 8 1/2 pounds.
