WHOLE SMOKED TURKEY Arkansas STYLE T BREAKFAS
& LUNCH
870-898-7900 290 South Dupree Ashdown, Arkansas
INGREDIENTS BRINE: 1 gallon water 1⁄4 cup vinegar 1 tablespoon pickling spices 1 teaspoon allspice 1 teaspoon black pepper 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon onion powder 1 teaspoon celery salt 1 1⁄2 cups kosher salt 1⁄4 cup brown sugar 1 tablespoon maple extract 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
DIRECTIONS Combine first 12 ingredients in a pot and bring to a boil. Let cool. Rinse turkey, pat dry and brine over night, completely submerged in the brine. Rinse turkey and pat dry. Using a syringe, inject your favorite marinade. I use a store-bought Cajun sauce, made for injectors, but you could certainly make your own. Coat with oil, and season liberally with Cajun seasoning. Cover with plastic wrap and let sit in the fridge overnight. Remove and bring to room temperature while you're getting the smoker ready, following the manufacture’s directions. Bring smoker up to 240 degrees. I like pecan or hickory. You could use almost any hard wood, but I do not recommend mesquite. It's too oily, and will be bitter after that long of a cooking period. Smoke bird for 6-8 hours, keeping the temperature between 220--240 degrees, until internal temperature of the bird reaches 180 degrees. Mop, rotate, and turn bird every 40-50 minutes. Add pieces of wood to keep temp up and smoke going. For the mop: Combine cider vinegar, water, celery salt, salt, pepper, and butter in a pot and bring to a boil. Remove and set aside. Remove, wrap in foil and let rest for 30 min before carving.
TURKEY PREP: 10 ounces cajun injection marinade 1⁄4 cup olive oil 1⁄4 cup cajun seasoning MOP: 1⁄2 cup apple cider vinegar 1⁄2 cup water 1 teaspoon celery salt 1⁄2 teaspoon salt 1⁄2 teaspoon black pepper 1⁄2 cup butter GUEST OF HONOR: 18 lbs turkey
READY IN: 9hrs SERVES: 10-15

SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER RESCUE MISSION NEEDS YOUR HELP THIS HOLIDAY SEASON Most Critical Needs
As the temperatures drop and the holidays quickly approach, a downtown Shreveport nonprofit needs your help making a difference in the lives of people who’ve fallen on hard times. Since 1955, the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission, a faith-based organization, has played a critical role year-round in providing vocational services, basic necessities, recovery programs and shelter to the area’s homeless. But, the organization relies on donations of different items to maintain its irreplaceable, daily operations. With colder temperatures arriving, the needs of the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission increases. You can also make a monetary donation by contacting The Grateful for people like Larry Otwell of the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission. His nonprofit in downtown Shreveport continues Mission. to change lives - even during a pandemic.

For Whom DiD Christ Die?
“This is my blood of The new TesTamenT, which is shed for many for The remission of sins” maTThew 26:28If you belIeve, as many professors do today, that the lord Jesus actually laId down hIs lIfe to save every sIngle person In the world, then you lImIt the death of chrIst In Its power to save. why? because, not all are delIvered from guIlt, and therefore It would make chrIst’s death less than effectual. a ransom that does not redeem Is no ransom at all. a propItIatIon that doesn’t actually satIsfy, Is no propItIatIon at all. the scrIptures teach a ransom that Is unlImIted In Its power to save, but lImIted In Its desIgn as to those god Intended to save by It. In other words, hIs blood was shed ‘for many for the remIssIon of sIns.’ chrIst dIed for many, a number that no man can number, revelatIon 7:9. yet, thIs many Is lImIted to as many as the lord has ordaIned to belIeve, acts 13:48 and as many as the lord god shall call, acts 2:39. In romans 5:15 they are called ‘the many,’ wIth a defInIte artIcle In the orIgInal. the many, for whom he shed hIs blood, enJoy the blessIng of the remIssIon of theIr sIn, because he shed hIs blood for them. chrIst’s death Is not Just the ground of the sInner’s salvatIon, It Is all theIr salvatIon!
