JORDAN DAVIS COMES HOME FOR A SPECIAL CONCERT
C
ontemporary country singer and “Artist to Watch,” Jordan Davis, brings his unique sound to the Paradise Theater. Come sing along to the hits, including “Slow Dance in a Parking Lot,” “Singles You Up” and “Take It from Me.”
MCA Nashville’s Jordan Davis has been named an “Artist to Watch” by Billboard, Rolling Stone, CMT, Pandora, Shazam, Amazon Music, Sounds Like Nashville, The Tennessean, SiriusXM, Whiskey Riff, and more. A Native of Shreveport, Louisiana, Davis graduated from LSU and briefly pursued the path of his degree working as an environmental consultant; however, his passion for music and songwriting eventually compelled him to move to Nashville in the summer of 2012. In 2018, Davis released his Gold-certified debut album, Home State, which features his three consecutive No. 1 hits: Platinum-Certified “Slow Dance In A Parking Lot,” the Double Platinum-Certified “Singles You Up” and Platinum-Certified “Take It From Me.” In 2019 Davis won Best New Country Artist at the iHeart Radio Music Awards and was a two-time nominee for ACM New Male Artist of the Year. He was also named Billboard’s Top New Country Artist of 2018 as well as Country Aircheck/Mediabase’s Most Heard New Artist of 2018. Davis has since accumulated over 2 billion streams worldwide. The hitmaker released a six-song, self-titled EP featuring a collaboration with pop superstar Julia Michaels titled, “Cool Anymore.” In May 2021, Davis announced his new eight song EP, Buy Dirt to be released later that month. Davis co-wrote every song on the EP except for the John Prine inspired “Blow Up Your TV.” Davis cites Prine as one of his most important influences throughout his life and on his music. The EP also features country superstar, Luke Bryan, who lends his vocals on the vulnerable title track and centerpiece of the EP. Davis’ latest single, “Almost Maybes,” is currently Top 10 and climbing on the country radio charts. The singer/songwriter will hit the road this Fall performing on Kane Brown’s Blessed and Free Tour. Davis has made appearances on Good Morning America, Late Night with Seth Meyers, TODAY Show, and has previously toured with the likes of Rascal Flatts, Jake Owen, Kip Moore, Brett Young and Old Dominion. Sons of the Pioneers in Shreveport, LA First United Methodist Church Shreveport
Matinee concert (3 p.m.) at First United Methodist Church, 500 Common St., Shreveport, LA 71101 The Sons of the Pioneers, formed in 1934, forever transformed cowboy music with their thrilling harmonies and poetic images of the West, and they still shoulder the standard for western music to this day. Founded by Roy Rogers (then known as Leonard Slye), Bob Nolan, and Tim Spencer, the band has remained together continuously since then, rotating a total of 47 members over the years. This award-winning, legendary band continues to gain fans young and old, playing original favorites like “Cool Water” and “Tumbling Tumbleweeds” and others rooted deeply in western lore. These six accomplished musicians (including Roy Rogers’ son) bring fresh energy to this classic genre, taking audiences time-traveling into the great American West with them.

The Offense Of The CrOss
““But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness” I Corinthians 1:23
1. This reveals the depravity and hardness of men’s hearts. v. 18 declares, ‘To those who perish the message of the cross is foolishness, but to those who are saved it is the power of God. To the Jews, who thought themselves to be morally upright, and to the Greeks, who thought themselves to be wise, the cross is an offense. 2. Christ crucified was a stumbling-block to the Jews (religious moral men). They presumed themselves already to be the children of God based on their heritage (‘we have Abraham as our father’) and on their attempts at observing the law. The cross of Christ declares none righteous, NO NOT ONE. Like the Jews of old, most people today see themselves as basically good and just in need of a little help, rather than totally depraved and condemned, and in need of Christ’s effectual death alone to save them. Such would be our own natural conceit, but for the grace of God. 3. Christ crucified was to the Greeks foolishness. There is nothing in the plain doctrine of the cross to suit natural men’s taste. They find it distasteful to trust in one who was condemned and crucified as a malefactor, a man of low birth and poor in life, and cut off by so vile and reproachful a death!’ Such is the pride of sinful human reason, and therefore they find such a doctrine repulsive. But to those who are saved by His blood shed and called, he is the wisdom of God, and the power of God. By the Spirit of God they rejoice in HIM whose blood and righteousness alone are ALL their salvation! Shreveport Grace Church - 2970 Baird Rd.
