Over the next 5 weeks we will be diving into the world of emotions, with a special guest presenter from Leduc County. You need to file your personal tax return every year to receive many government benefits such as Guaranteed Income Supplement, Canada Child Benefit, or the GST Credit. This year, your 2025 taxes can be filed between the end of February and the end of April. To prepare for tax season, make sure CRA has your up-to-date contact information. The easiest way is to create and maintain a CRA account. If you don’t have one, you can contact them by phone at 1-800-959-8281. You will need to provide information from your most recently filed tax return to prove your identity.
As you receive your tax slips over the next few weeks, keep them in a safe place. If you don’t receive them, you must contact the issuer for a replacement. Or you can find your t-slip information directly on your CRA account.
If you have a moderate income and a simple tax situation, you may be eligible for free tax-filing assistance from the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP). Information will be shared about this program eligibility and availability soon.
