ABOUTME Design as Life It’s not only a motto, but also an attitude towards life while facing challenges.

Born and raised in Taiwan, Taipei while receiving most of my education and professional experience there, I had a chance back in 2019 to start off an advanture of receiving high education in Manchester, UK, where I rediscover the pation of design and truly broaden my horizen as a young professional.

Design had always been a huge part of me , where ever I am, working or studying. Looking forward to a new chapter in a new location, who knows will it lead me to a different destination.

Issue & Strategy With a span of more than 100KM, how can 8 individual stations keen their own characteristic while showing coherence? Moving from “Object” to “Place” was our answer.

Origin of Project 8

Focusing on railway stations of the southeastern loop of TRA, this project tries to reinterpret station culture and local characteristics, while strengthen sightseeing tourism transportation function

WenZhou Conference District Restore AECOM.Taipei/Ningbo (2021)

Origin of Project With an area of over 20 hactors, Wenzhou deerbay conference district have been undergoing transformations in recent years.

As international meeting tramsform into remote conferences due to the pandemic of Covid, how should formerlt built largescale conference center react? What can be a better way to link the conference zone with the city and it’s people for a brighter future beside the great river?

Vision & Design

As the original function of confernece dried out, new usage had to be adopted to existing building and further development phase areas. Taking advantage of large parcels that are 800M by 340M, the strategy of creating large centrialize park and facility came up. Alongside with with the 300M inner canel connecting directly with the Ou-river, building up the entire framework of this restoration project. Located some 30 minutes from the city center, a tram system is also advised as part of the project.

Four major actions and concept were placed into this project. First of all, a E-W connection parallel with the river was created to enhance accessibility between different programs and parcels. Second, typology of building and complexes were design to reflect their purpose of use though show sense of unique. Third, cultural programs were introduced to this project to form an interface towards the local people, making the conference district a place for all. Last, flexible facade design as a finishing touch.

Origin of Project

Issue & Strategy

YiXing township, located in the western part of Jiangsu Province, is a small city famous of it’s potery. Cooperating with Guāngmíng Real Estate Group, our mission is to transform a post-mining industrial land into a high-end touristical villa and second-house for people within the area, since it’s only a 2.5 hour drive or 1.5 hour HSR trip form one of China’s largest city-Shanghai. Currently, the first phase of this project is under construction while the second and third phase entering detail design stage. Loya village is estimated to open her doors to the public in spring 2023.

One from all of the major issues the project face had to be the high standard of environment considerations due to it’s post-industrial identity. To deal with the issue, a large lake connecting numerous post-industrial water ponds with a biometrical buffer zone between major development and brown field was introduced to the project while smaller and lighter pre-cast villas replaced the original plan of apartment blocks, elevating the building standards and quality while decreasing the impact towards land.

It became a true winner as housing like this are still rare in this part of China.

Vision & Design Taking advantage of existing landscape, key elements were chosen to represent specific scenes of site. Jiangnan style architecture was introduced focusing on how impermanent mountain and water find their shape.

Our goal was to stand out from numerous immigrantical style high-end residentials and villas in the district, giving this project its identity.

Porto Marghera From 1917-2050 University of Manchester (2019)

Issue & Strategy Few of the major issues that had to be doubt with including poor accessibility and polluted land. Super-campus, as the methodology to relink the place with its surroundings was introduced to the project, while natural remediation process, to remove the toxicness in the soil, was the other main strategy.

Origin of Project 20

Located on the mainland of Venice, Italy, Porto Marghera is a post-industrial brownfield beside the venetian lagoon. With a surface area of nearly 2km2, this once forgotten land is about to once again pop into the eyes of the crowd, though in an entirely different way.

Vision & Design In 2050, one day, when you plan a trip to Venice, on the plane, you will never ignore the vivid land before you arrive...

Sustainability had to take a huge role in the planning process of this project, therefore when it is decided that the northern part of this pennisula should carry out most of the spacial facilities, like residences and university buildings, the southern part turns into a supporting landscape farm. This utopia farm is proposed for cultivation of food and organic products, that can be consumed by the

residents themselves and even exported to neighbouring areas.

The farm is divided in four sections, that they all work together to produce energy from renewable resources, so as to serve the residential areas and the super-campus. The place not only encourage a self-sufficient community, but also engages people during the process of cultivation and therefore enhances their social life. Furthermore, people from the surrounding areas can spend their spare time in this lively and healthy environment.

School Prodis University CEU San Pablo (2017)

Origin of Project This is a specially organized program between the course of architectural composition in CEU San Pablo and the local organization for Down Syndrome, Prodis. Using participatory design guiding methods, two student of architecture, one local and one international, pair up with a local young adult with Down Syndrome to create a school that suit the use of Down Syndrome people while also performing high end designing skills and cooperation within the groups.

Case study of well designed school projects was done as the first phase of this program whereas the program also caught media attention nation wide.

Concept & Design The concept of this school project is to try to consider the user’s need from a first person narriator. We try to include as much idea of our friend with Down Syndrome, Alejandro so that this design can be an enjoyable experience for him. On the other hand, fulfil our well as future architects of only using single geomatery but still create a rich variety of different programs within the limited space given. One of the major issue that should be cover while designing educational facility for teenage is security, especally when these students have special needs. Our group agree with such statement and presented a planning structure of placing all indoor facilities at the outside chain of the project, and the general space at the inner part. It is the opposite of regular method but seemed to be working well.Using defferent floor and roof heights, differanting the different use of space. The roof of general space is planned to be a roof garden for student and teachers to enjoy the warm sun of Madrid whereas indoor sporting facilities like the swimming pool and multi-usage gym prepare the school for all kinds of exercises during rainy season. The classroom program of this school is also different from ordinary schools. Having more than 50% of non-academical classrooms, students can learn a wider variety of different technics within.

Breaking The Phenomenal Wall: Toyama Heights Tamkung University (2016)

Origin of Project

In the dense urban area of inner Tokyo, Toyama Heights stands out as a green oasis; the utopian experiment of social housing nested in an expansive nature. However, notwithstanding all the elements that should make this project as successful as Lafayette Park in Detroit or Dutch urban redevelopments, Toyama Heights remains a dire reminder of the failures of Post-WWII social housing policy and projects. Its aging population and deteriorating infrastructure make this project a rare locus in Tokyo suffering disenfranchisement and rapid decay. How can we breakdown the phenomenal perimeter wall that prevents people from freely entering the premise, socialize, and to create a culture of collectivity?

Issue & Strategy

The given site-Toyama Danchi is in the centrol part of the biggest city in Japan, Tokyo. Being so close to the business center of Tokyo, Shinjuku, it is unexpected to see a place with a lot of vegetation and medium hight public housings.

Design and built in the 1950s, Toyama Danchi Housing Complex was originally built for poeple working in the urban area during the development era. However as time passes, the living condition within worsen drametically and people started to move out of the complexes. The ones left were the elders and the single parent families who simply had to live in Tokyo with numerous different reasons but can afford a better place.

Vision & Design

The core of the project, is the expenditure of the existing kindergarten. Taking advantage of the good natural environment and the newly designed garden like farm lands, we believe parent from surrounding communities will be willing to send their children here.
