In the past decade, the city government of Taipei had been undergoing countless renovations on the infrastructure. Dividing the city into five major focusing areas, these renovation projects had been seen as successful from a general point of view since it had been solving problems including circulation and public living quality. However, these mass developments are also leaving issues behind, the old, but important cultural building had been torn down or relocated, urban green spaces had been replaced by steel and concrete, the overall scenery became unified and lack of identity. Therefore, from an architect's point of view we ask, is this what the people really wanted? Or, are we able to make a difference?
