Victorians unsure about which local council election they must vote in can quickly and easily check using the ‘Find My Council’ feature, launched on the Victorian Electoral Commission’s website today.
Elections for all councils in Victoria will take place in October, except for Casey City Council, South Gippsland Shire Council and Whittlesea City Council.
“Suburban and council boundaries don’t always match up,” Electoral Commissioner Warwick Gately explained.
“Using Find My Council, voters can quickly look up the council that covers their enrolled address, and from there go to information specific to their area.”

Anzac Day Services are as follows. The Early Morning Service will take place in Bi-Centennial Park, Lakeside Avenue (beside the shire offices) beginning at 7am. A small informal service with a speaker from the local RSL. All welcome.
The new tool also enables people to search for details of elections (such as nominations) for other properties they own and pay rates for such as investment properties or holiday homes. Voting for these properties is strongly encouraged but not compulsory unless the property is located within the City of Melbourne.
The Anzac Day March will come down Hollonds Street, starting from the assembly point in Park Street, near the Police Station at 10:45am, but marchers should be assembled and ready to go at 10:30am. Whilst Hollonds Street will not be closed, traffic movement will be restricted as the marchers come down the street.
Find My Council has been developed by the VEC to make voting easy for all Victorians and after voting has closed, will then become Find My Council Election Results.
This feature is offered in addition to existing services, such as:
The Commemorative Service will take place at the Cenotaph, beginning at 11am. The Motion of Loyalty will be offered by Councillor Tony Keeble of the Alpine Shire. There is no doubt that this year has been one from hell! But we’re coping OK. We have missed our guests and there is every chance they have missed us! They’ve missed the snow, they’ve missed the enjoyment of a snow holiday and they’ve missed the fabulous comfort of our beautiful accommodation providers. We here at the paper then though we might bring you some of the accommodation offers that were available in 1949, courtesy of the 1949 edition of Schuss Magazine – the official journal of the Ski Club of Victoria.
Under the heading, SKI-ING FACILITIES DEVELOP the opening paragraph states “Developments which have taken place on Bogong High Plains during summer and autumn months increase the ski-ing facilities in the area to a considerable extent. Indeed there is now opening up what may well be termed a new phase in Victorian ski-ing. These developments are concerned mainly with accommodation and transport.”

Early last month Team Mount Beauty held it’s slightly different Annual General Meeting via Zoom, with only the Committee members physically present due to COVID-19 restrictions. There was a large turnover of volunteers for the committee - the biggest change the Club has seen in quite a while. A massive and sincere thank you to all of the outgoing Committee Members for spending so much quality time, and putting a huge amount of energy to make the club and the mountain bike park the best it can be. Thanks to: Blair Hume, Bernie McArdle, Carly Emond, Liam Panozzo, Michael Whipps, Rachel Whipps and Turi Berg.
The new committee is very excited to start a new chapter for the Club while continuing to move forward with the fantastic work that has already been done.
The 2020/2021 committee is comprised of the following volunteers: President: Joel Panozzo; Vice President: Rob Vandenberg; Treasurer: Richard Stratton; Secretary: Leighann Gnyla.
General Committee Members: Cath Richardson, Ella Gould, Damian Heman, Glenn McIlroy, Jamie Armitage, Jenny Griffiths, Peter Hull and Richard Wilson
Once again, thanks to all of our previous committee members and congratulations and thanks to our new team. •
Over recent years the Team Mount Beauty Committee and members have really focussed on improving our Mountain Bike Park in many areas including user safety. Regular riders of the park will have noticed a few small additions that are aimed at lifting the bar in regards to rider safety. At three of the trail junction nodes where there are ‘wayfinding’ signs the club has installed some simple ‘emergency pods.’
Falls Creek Resort Management will be collecting hard waste on Wednesday 26th April - the day after ANZAC Day. Please see our Hard Waste Collection guidelines on the website, or if you require any additional information, please contact the FCRM Office on 03 5758 1200. • Summer Debrief
Each of the ‘pods’ contain a quality compression bandage that can be used to treat a snake bite or significant bleeding injury. On the outside of ‘pods’ is vital location information to be communicated to emergency services 000 call takers and despatchers. This includes a prompt to dial 000 for any medical emergency, a description of the location and GPS coordinates for the location.
It has been a record year for visitation this summer and Resort Management would like to get your feedback on events, visitor demographic, mountain biking and general observations.
Therefore you are invited to join the relevant Resort Management personnel and other members of the community for a summer season debrief meeting. This meeting will take place on Wednesday 26th April from 9:30am to around 11:30am in the Boardroom above Foodworks in QT.
At this point in time these ‘pods’ are located at ‘5 Ways’, ‘Dart Spur’ and ‘Cattleyards’ with plans to roll out more in further locations in the Park. ‘Like’ Team Mount Beauty and join the Team Mount Beauty group on Facebook to keep up to date with further installations and other information about club activities and general mountain bike happenings.
People are encouraged to use the bandages as needed but the committee asks that you let us know by emailing info@tmb.org.au if you

I’m distressed. I’m not sure what is going on in the world at the moment. I don’t feel there is any guidance at home. I’m not sure who to turn to – but I know I’m frustrated, angry and pissed off! That’s why I do this crap.
Where do I go for help? Would any of my mates be able to help? In all reality I know it’s wrong to deface property in this town. I know I’m lucky to be living in a great place and I know it looks crappy to see graffiti all over the town – especially graffiti all over artwork that was done by a really talented team – and to see the toilets flower bombed.
One thing I don’t need is for my mates to be thinking I’m a hero for doing this crap. That’s just stupid. If my mates really were my mates, they’d be thinking about ways of helping. They know that defacing property – spraying garbage on walls or flour bombing the toilets – is just dumb, stupid and f@#$!d!
They know it’s a sign of weakness – but I don’t want to be seen as weak in their eyes! That’s not tough!
But what is tough? Being stupid? Nah, that’s not tough. Doing crazy things! Nah, there’s no guts in that. Real guts is being able to own up when you cock-up!

Real guts is being smart enough to say “I’ve stuffed up – and I’m here to cop my just desserts!” Real guts is to be able to admit making a mistake- and facing the consequences. They tell me that owning up is where you earn respect. I wish to whoever that I had the guts to own up! I’m hoping, that because of the shit that I have done – a couple of my real good mates will have a chat with me and with the youth officer in town to see how we can fix this crap. And then, if it has to be - I’ll walk in to the local cop shop and tell them it’s me that has stuffed up – and that I’m here to start cleaning up. That way I’ll earn the respect of my mates, my family and the community – and that means a lot. The Youth Worker’s number is: 03 5754 3531. •

Every human being is driven by this search for significance. We all want our lives to count for something. All the attention, wealth, or notoriety the world has to offer really doesn’t satisfy the need. With that in mind, let’s look at Romans 12:1-8. This passage talks about a proper evaluation of our strengths which are to be used for God’s glory. If we understand and apply four principles from this section, it will really help us to find eternal significance.
1. Remember your priorities.
Verse 1: In our times of COVID, stage 4 or 3 restrictions, having work or not? Still recovering from the bushfires? Struggling with a new diagnosis of cancer. Or just living your daily routine as best you can. God could have disowned us but instead He chose us. He says, “Don’t conform any longer to the pattern of this world.” You see, the world around us is obsessed with image. What will people say? What will people think?
2. Realistically evaluate your gifts.
Verse 3. How do you value your gifts? Do you acknowledge your gifts, even if it is only to yourself? We all have gifts. We are not to think too highly or too lowly of ourselves and our gifts; we are to get it just right – but how? Think of yourself with sober judgment in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.
3. Refuse to compare yourself with other people.
When God created this physical body, He knows what he is doing when he creates this physical body and He knows what He

Helen Mathew m 0419 399 737
Mount Beauty | www.mountaincreekarch com

is doing when He creates His church. Like members of the body we all have different gifts and different measures of the same gift. We need to evaluate not only where our strengths are but to have a realistic assessment of the degree of our gift. God is evaluating us according to our potential and according to our opportunities.
4. Remain focused in the area of your strength.
Romans 12:6. That is not what it says, is it? It says if your gift is prophesying, that is what you are supposed to do. Prophesy. If your gift is teaching, you stay with teaching. It goes on to say you do it generously. When you have discovered your primary area of giftedness, stay focused in your area of strength and your area of passion and you will be fulfilled. God has given different gifts to the body for the building up of the body. When you use your gift fully for the glory of God, you begin to light little torches along the way to show people through the darkness to the light of Jesus Christ. •
