We now know that almost all of our drinking water (Bottled and tap) contains plastic. A lot of our food also contains plastic. Animals too are eating plastic and all of us are getting sick. We are literally drowning in a sea of plastic.
Time to Volunteer! But rather than just writing about plastic pollution, I think it's time to volunteer! So, on the 20th May 2018, I will be helping the TAO and their volunteers. Together with our sponsor, Roxy Surf wear Taiwan, we will be running the 2018 Taiwan National Clean-up Day.

The Largest Painting in History Earth Zen Person, Chi-Sung Hung
Material and textile experts in Taiwan worked together and imported special weaving equipment to weave the 5-m moisture-proof, low-distortion fabric. Finite element analysis was performed on the canvas by experts from US to simulate the structural integrity and deformed shape at various suspension and loading conditions. The volume of the amount of paint needed to finish this painting is about the size of a swimming pool. It is estimated to take half a year for the drawing and another full year for coloring.The canvas weighs several hundred kg. It is separated into 15 rolls.
Zen Master Chi-Sung Hung is an internationally well-known meditation teacher. He calls himself an Earth Zen Person, a person who is devoted to promoting the enlightenment of all living beings. In his childhood, he saw the death of workers in his father’s firecracker factory because of a big explosion. Years later, his father’s death further made him realize the impermanent nature of life. Facing life and death at such a young age, he started to search for the path of immortality. When he was ten, he started learning several different types of Buddhist meditation. At the age of seventeenth, he was inspired by the 《Platform Sutra of the Sixth Patriarch》 written by Huineng, a famous Zen master in the Tang Dynasty. Three years later, he started teaching meditation. In 1993, he advocated a movement called “pure land in this world” which emphasized environmental protection and mental purification. In addition, he was the first religious leader in Taiwan to promote organ donation. In 1995, he started to teach a series of advanced Buddhist meditation courses. These teachings were later collected in a book called “The Heart of Buddhist Meditation”. Master Hung has written more than a hundred books that focus on the development and purification of the human body and spiritual well being. Master Hung has

taught meditation at Harvard University, MIT, Ohio State University, and New York. Because of Master Hung’s great accomplishments in Zen, the government of San Francisco awarded him Honorary Citizenship. 地球禪者洪啟嵩禪師，為國際知名禪學 大師、禪畫藝術家及暢銷書作家，不丹前 總理肯贊•多傑閣下譽之為「當代空海」。 2008 年，其首度提出「地球禪」，帶領世 界各地百名學人，在佛陀圓滿覺悟之地— 印度菩提伽耶，主持禪七。所繪之五公尺 巨幅成道佛，為第一位懸掛於正覺大塔之 山門者。 2010 年，五十二歲 於印度菩提伽耶現場 揮毫書寫 16 公尺大佛字供養佛陀。於阿 旃塔石窟書寫巨幅心經完成前半幅，後半 幅至 2011 年於中國雲岡完成，象徵佛法 從西土傳至中土。 ● 推動 2010 台北國際花博不丹館籌建、 2011 年台北國際書展邀請不丹主題國及首 屆台灣不丹 NH 會議，開創台灣不丹深度 文化交流。 2017 年，五十九歲 ● 於印度佛陀聖地：成道地菩提伽耶、初 轉法輪地鹿野苑、說法地靈鷲山，為世紀 大佛上彩畫。 ● 於不丹首都廷布及帕羅宗彩畫世紀大 佛，並展開 26 公尺 < 雲岡大佛寫真 >。 殊榮 1990 獲台灣行政院文建會金鼎獎 2009 獲美國舊金山市政府頒發榮譽狀 2010 獲不丹王國頒發榮譽狀 2013 榮任雲岡石窟文化研究首席顧問

Experiencing Life through Drama
Combining dramatic tension with live performances to examine human nature and overcome personal barriers Life is like a play, where everyone involved has a role. Sometimes, due to over insistence, some people stray from their scripts and find themselves embroiled in life’s challenges; those who manage to move on will eventually overcome each obstacle, but those who do not often find themselves stuck in a rut and full of regret. This is the inspiration behind 2015 Celebrity Speaker and former scriptwriter and producer Mr. Tan, Yun-Kai’s (aka. Encore Little Prince) decision to examine the human soul through drama. Mr. Tan Yun-Kai describes the course as a combination of simple psychology tests (such as: Under what circumstances do you lose your temper easily? What is the most difficult problem you have ever faced so far? Can you tell a person’s mood from his expression?) with movie clips and live performances, to allow students to interpret the feelings of each character and each scenario, contemplating and examining human reactions in their everyday lives – whether your actions will offend others and affect your business, romantic relationships & friendships or not. Through this course, everyone will be able to see their inner selves, explore the nature of life, identify bottlenecks (personal barriers), and address each problem for a spiritual breakthrough. What Do I Care About?
I am sure everyone has heard about an amazing group of people known simply as volunteers. In fact, I am sure most of you have probably volunteered for some worthy cause at some point in your lives? Me, well, I couldn't help but be impressed by the consistent dedication volunteers give to their individual causes.
One of the issues I write a lot about is plasticwaste and the terrible impact it has on our wildlife. Our best estimates suggest we are dumping the equivalent of a fully loaded garbage truck full of trash into the ocean every minute of the day. By 2050 scientists have predicted that our trash will outweigh all lifeforms in the ocean. The ocean has become a giant garbage can and it is filling up fast.

Time to Volunteer! But rather than just writing about plastic pollution, I think it's time to volunteer! sans frontières (Doctors without border), who give up their time and skills in incredibly dangerous parts of the world to help people in dire straits. Or what about the incredibly brave rangers who form part of Tanzania's elite antipoaching National and Transnational Serious Crimes Unit (NTSCIU), risking their lives to save the lives of Elephants. There are millions more volunteers, helping out all over the world in a multitude of ways. Relatives caring for family members with illness and disabilities. Researchers collecting invaluable data to help further understanding or to highlight risk. Neighbourhood watch, planting new trees, protecting hatching turtles, helping underprivileged kids. There are so many wonderful people and organisations all across the world doing incredible things.
