Meet Us in The Land For generations, Cleveland’s lake and river have powered the city. Today, they are helping define what comes next. Cleveland’s waterfronts are on the brink of generational transformation, with nearly $5 billion in investment along both shorelines bringing that future into view. There’s sustained momentum around bold, equitable and climateresilient redevelopment. From new trails to new parks to new lakefront meeting space, Cleveland’s reputation as a waterfront city is taking shape. At the Patrick S. Parker Sailing Center, groups can pair lake views with waterfront dining and flexible event space. The Mandel Community Trail opens a new off-road connection from Downtown to the city’s cultural hub, University Circle. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s $135 million expansion adds a 1,400-person event venue and lakefront park. Meeting planners can build Cleveland’s music, recreation, dining and waterfront into programs, each within easy reach of the Downtown convention district. Beyond the waterfronts, two Downtown hotels have completed full renovations, with three new hotels expected within two years. In 2027, Cosm Cleveland will bring immersive sports and entertainment to the Gateway District, steps from Rocket Arena and Progressive Field. The MICHELIN Guide’s arrival will give attendees another reason to explore the city.

This is an exciting time. Our team looks forward to helping you bring people together through experiences that feel purposeful, welcoming and unmistakably Cleveland. Sincerely,

David Gilbert President & CEO Destination Cleveland

Weather Cleveland experiences all four seasons. Winter temperatures are generally within 20 to 40 degrees. Maybe you’ve heard the term “lake effect snow?” Spring could be a balmy 70 during the day, then drop to 45 degrees at night. Summer, we love it, and its perfect 80 degrees. Technically summer is over, but don’t tell Fall. The first cold blast usually hits sometime in November.

History Cleveland has a proud history that is 230 years in the making. General Moses Cleaveland of the Connecticut Land Company came to the Western Reserve and founded the City of Cleveland in 1796. The name changed to its current spelling in 1831 when the “a” was dropped in order to fit the city’s name on a newspaper masthead.

Location + Population Cleveland, located in the Eastern Standard Time Zone (EST) in the State of Ohio within Cuyahoga County, is on the southern shore of Lake Erie, part of the Great Lakes Region. Cleveland-Akron-Canton comprises the 17th largest combined metro area in the United States with more than 2.1 million residents in the Greater Cleveland metropolitan statistical area (MSA) and nearly 400,000 in the City of Cleveland.

Business Cleveland has a $293 billion annual economy and is home to a number of companies that are on Fortune magazine’s list of the top 500 industrial and top 500 service companies in the United States, including KeyCorp, SherwinWilliams, Eaton Corp and Progressive Insurance.

The Flats

1. wORLD-CLASS EXPERIENCES WITHOUT THE WORLD-CLASS EGO

2. tHE LAND OF BIG EVENTS

Downtown Cleveland has everything a meeting needs to succeed — affordable hotels, posh event spaces, famous restaurants, award-winning breweries, national attractions and an everyone’s-welcome attitude. How do we know? The experts have spoken: Cleveland was named to Travel + Leisure’s recent “Best Places to Travel” list, noting the city is “set to shine, thanks to national and international events.” Speaking of lists, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame was named “The Best Tourist Attraction in the U.S.” by U.S. News & World Report.

From the 2016 Republican National Convention to the 2024 ASAE Annual Meeting & Exposition, big things have been happening in Cleveland over the last decade — and they’re not stopping any time soon. The Rock Hall induction ceremony will return (as it does every three years), and both the Advanced Placement (AP) Reading Program and Global Polymer Summit are hosting large-scale meetings here in the coming years.

2027-28 MEETING PLANNING GUIDE /

3. EXPANDED CONVENTION COMPLEX The Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland recently expanded its footprint in new and exciting ways! Having absorbed the nearby former Center for Global Health Innovation space, the convention center now offers a bigger ballroom, an outdoor terrace with plum city views, upgraded restrooms and new escalators for easier event flow. It’s a $49 million investment that is already paying off in spades.

4. HOTELS ARE EVERYWHERE

Huntington Convention Center expansion

Greater Cleveland as a whole has nearly 23,000 guest rooms across all major hotel brands, representing segments from luxury resorts to boutique business accommodations. Downtown Cleveland now offers nearly 5,000 guestrooms in 19 hotels. Add in the flexible meeting spaces and unique dining spots, and these hotels become destinations in themselves. Meeting spaces from 10,000 to 60,000 square feet can range from traditional boardroom seating to AV- and techenabled theaters, auditoriums and ballrooms.

5. MEMORABLE VENUES

Hilton Cleveland Downtown

PHOTO OPPOSITE: AERIAL AGENTS. PHOTOS TOP TO BOTTOM: ©HUNTINGTON CONVENTION CENTER OF CLEVELAND, ©NATHAN MIGAL, ©SCOTT ESTERLY, © AERIAL AGENTS.

Cleveland is full of dynamic gathering spots that can empower your meeting with a motif. Classy galas or weddings would be perfect for the Cleveland Museum of Art. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has multiple rental options, including the entire museum. The country’s second-largest performing arts center, Playhouse Square, offers nine theaters of various sizes and one outdoor event space for rental. From Rocket Arena, home of the Cleveland Cavaliers, to The Agora, this city has great venues that offer unforgettable experiences. Cleveland Museum of Art

6. GETTING HERE IS EASY Cleveland sits within a 500-mile radius of nearly half of the U.S. population — only six hours from cities like Chicago, New York and Philadelphia. Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) is 12 miles from Downtown and offers an abundance of nonstop flights around the country and internationally via most major carriers. Getting here is super cheap too. CLE offers an abundance of low-cost flights due to new low-cost carriers and increased competition. We are also easily accessible by AMTRAK train, or bus, with both Greyhound and Megabus terminals nearby.

I-71, I-77 and I-90 lead into Downtown Cleveland

13

The Cleveland Advantage 7. GETTING AROUND TOWN IS EASIER The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) links busy travelers to timely destinations. Four RTA rail lines and two Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lines snake all over the city and to the airport. Once Downtown, take advantage of scooter and bike rentals. Of course, most folks just walk. Cleveland has one of the most pedestrian-friendly downtown areas in America. Strollers can also take solace in the downtown ambassadors that keep Cleveland streets safe and clean, while acting as mobile concierges.

Scooter Rentals

8. PLENTY OF FOOD AND FUN From business luncheons to wedding banquets, Northeast Ohio is full of excellent bistros, clubs, cantinas and eateries that specialize in large parties and flavorful food. Food Network-famous chefs like Rocco Whalen, celebrated restaurants like Cordelia and popular food trucks like the Manna Truck all call Cleveland home. The West Side Market and Great Lakes Brewing Co. are cornerstones in Cleveland’s culinary and craft beer movement, while the JACK Cleveland Casino, Downtown clubs and indie music venues provide a 24/7 nightlife.

Rosy

From AsiaTown to Hingetown, Cleveland’s diverse cultures are on full display throughout the city — inviting locals and visitors to immerse and engage. Destinations such as the Cleveland Cultural Gardens provide a striking and scenic representation of our city’s various ethnic communities, while Cleveland’s queer community convenes in spaces such as the LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland. Whether hoisting a rainbow flag high at Pride in the CLE or participating in the MetroHealth Juneteenth Freedom Fest, you’ll find ample opportunity to be an ally in The Land.

Pride in the CLE

10. Great Lake Adventures Lake Erie provides some of the best opportunities for aquatic entertainment in the United States. Commission a group adventure with CLE Tiki Barge at the Main Avenue docks in the Flats West Bank, enjoy drinks at Edgewater Beach House all summer long, or get all wet steelhead fishing in tributaries like Vermilion River, Rocky River and Conneaut Creek. Even Downtown, behind the Rock Hall, North Coast Harbor Marina is a 53-slip transient marina, which provides kayaks and boat slips for rent.

The Gateway District is already Cleveland’s go-to pre- and post-game destination, and with the city’s new WNBA Sirens tipping off in 2028, the momentum is only growing. Across from Rocket Arena, the 70,000-squarefoot COSM opens in 2027 with a 12K-resolution LED dome, bars and hospitality spaces for an immersive game-day experience. Next door, Meet Me Here Plaza boasts Downtown’s only public outdoor basketball court, marking 10 years since the Cavs won it all. And soon, East 4th Street also becomes a designated outdoor refreshment area (DORA), letting visitors explore the district with a drink in hand.

The Cleveland Browns’ new $2.6 billion domed stadium is set to open in 2029, delivering a state-of-the-art experience for fans, players and visitors. The first domed stadium in Ohio, Huntington Bank Field will seat 67,500 fans for football and accommodate 6,000-75,000 people for special events. The playing surface will sit 80 feet below ground level, while visitors will enter through the 377,000-square-foot Grand Concourse, complemented by 215,000 square feet of outdoor plaza space. An adjacent mixed-use district will add residences, hotels, restaurants, bars and retail, transforming Brook Park into one of the region’s newest entertainment and hospitality destinations.

Downtown Living

DEVELOPMENT IS reshapin ity g the ec city reshapin

People continue to gravitate Downtown to live — and an array of new residential projects is meeting them where they are. The once-industrial Scranton Peninsula has become a hotbed of residential development, with projects such as The Collins and Triton on the Flats already welcoming tenants. The nine-story Electric Building, once home to the United Church of Christ, opened this year in the Gateway District with 120 apartments and a Tom’s Watch Bar. Other projects in progress include Erieview Tower’s conversion into W Cleveland (a W-branded hotel and luxury apartments) and the historic Rose Building’s transformation into a Tribute by Marriott hotel and apartments. WEST SIDE MARKET

The West Side Market has been a treasured Cleveland icon since 1912, with a $70 million transformation set to ensure it thrives for another century. A new mezzanine overlooking the market hall will soon accommodate private events for groups of 100 guests (seated) to 250 guests (standing).

PRIMATE FOREST

Opening soon at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, the $68-million Primate Forest won’t just offer lush habitat for gorillas and orangutans (meant to mimic their native rainforests in Borneo and Sumatra), but also rich, interactive spaces to enlighten individual visitors and groups about the great apes and humanity’s connections to them.

CLEVELAND SOCCER STADIUM

Professional soccer is heading to Cleveland with a 10,000-seat stadium planned for Downtown. Along with playing home to a new MLS NEXT Pro men’s team (Forest City Cleveland) and the city’s first women’s pro soccer team (Cleveland Astra), the $50 million outdoor pitch is sure to be #eventgoals.

With Huntington Bank Field moving over to Brook Park, new possibilities are opening up on Cleveland’s waterfront — with the North Coast already transforming in real time. It’s all part of the city’s North Coast Master Plan, which aims to level up the lakefront with more recreation and entertainment options. North Coast Yard is already in its second year as a seasonal pop-up offering multiple ways to enjoy the water and

great outdoors. (Think yoga, roller skating, basketball leagues and more.) Also in the works is the North Coast Connector, a land bridge linking Downtown’s green space to the shores of Lake Erie. In the long term, the city is also exploring the potential removal of Burke Lakefront Airport to free up even more waterfront land.

Emerging riverfront neighborhoods are reshaping life in The Land. Bedrock Cleveland’s Cuyahoga Riverfront Master Plan is transforming 35 acres behind Tower City into a thriving mixed-use “15-minute neighborhood” with residences, offices, a riverwalk, kayak launch and more. Across the river on the Scranton Peninsula, projects including the 316-unit Collins are bringing new housing to former industrial sites. Providing respite nearby, The Saunagoose will offer Nordic-inspired outdoor saunas and cold plunges. Connecting it all, the Cleveland Water Taxi makes it easy to explore The Flats, with four stops linking restaurants, attractions and riverfront destinations.

GLOBAL PEAK PERFORMANCE CENTER

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Clinic are joining forces for the Global Peak Performance Center. Set to become one of the world’s largest athletic training facilities at over 210,000 square feet, the project is part of Bedrock’s $3.5 billion master plan to transform the Cuyahoga Riverfront. CLEVELAND AMPHITHEATER

Few things make for a better evening than great music against a gorgeous outdoor backdrop — and a new 6,200-capacity amphitheater will deliver on both fronts. Also, as part of Bedrock’s 35-acre development project, this open-air venue will activate new entertainment experiences along the Cuyahoga River.

Cleveland’s riverfront renaissance keeps on rolling. Beyond the revitalized Flats East Bank, massive residential and commercial developments on the Scranton Peninsula and an ever-expanding trail network, upcoming projects will elevate the banks of the Cuyahoga to even greater heights. Recently acquired by Cleveland Metroparks, the former Grain Craft Silos are set for conversion into a 147-room boutique hotel with event spaces, a restaurant and public river access. Directly across the Cuyahoga, Irishtown Bend Park is transforming an overgrown hillside into a 25-acre public green space featuring trails, gathering areas and unprecedented connectivity to the vibrant Ohio City neighborhood.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is dropping the needle on a massive $135 million expansion. Plugging in the new wing means more space for concerts, traveling exhibits and amped-up artifacts from the archives.

And Rid-All Green Partnership is so much more than an urban farm — this Kinsman neighborhood agriculture campus is busting food deserts, planting trees, incubating culinary start-ups and bringing farming education to underserved areas. (Rent its community kitchen for special events such as catered lunches/dinners and food tastings with local chefs.)

PLANNING OUTDOOR GROUP ACTIVITIES AROUND CLEVELAND FEELS LIKE A WALK IN THE PARK BY REBECCA FERLOTTI

HELLO CITY

Public Square makes exploring Downtown easy with food trucks, live music and events, while a stroll through The Malls feels like art appreciation. At North Coast Harbor, Voinovich Bicentennial Park offers lakefront views plus an iconic Cleveland sign for photo ops. Public Square

Who says that traveling has to disrupt your attendees’ usual wellness routine? Make Cleveland their active home away from home with convenient and compelling options such as Ascend Fitness & Spa, located inside the Marriott Downtown and offering up to 7-day passes for a full roster of group fitness classes and more. At Browns Fit Gym (inside the Aloft Downtown), gridiron glory feels within reach at this 20,000-square-foot facility designed to help attendees train and recover like a pro athlete. Take a class, hit the equipment or settle in with a smoothie at the on-site Fuel Zone. Need to unwind from a busy event schedule? Spin off the stress at Harness Cycle, or settle in for a hot yoga or infrared sauna sesh at Studio Cleveland.

Ascend Fitness & Gym

Time to step away from the spreadsheets and seminars? Cleveland’s edge beckons with an invitation to dip your toes — or paddles — in the water. Just west of Downtown, Whiskey Island and Edgewater Park keep it beachy with swimming, volleyball games and kayak/SUP access (all set against a backdrop of jawdropping city views).

Catch the Wave BY ILONA WESTFALL

For a truly unique team-building experience, Great Lakes Watersports leads groups of up to 50 people on urban kayaking excursions along the Cuyahoga River. Weather forecast not so promising? Head to the Cleveland Foundry’s Tankhouse, which offers indoor rowing lessons for groups of up to 30 people (along with meeting rooms and an on-site Airbnb).

SIDEWALK STORIES

More than 63,000 guests have enjoyed the history-themed Take a Hike walking tours — with 32 options including riverfront Canal Basin Park and lore-filled Erie Street Cemetery (the resting place of Cleveland’s first permanent settlers). BLAZING NEW TRAILS

Riverfront Canal Basin Park and lush Cuyahoga Valley National Park act as bookends for the 93-mile Towpath Trail (soon to span 101 miles). Access the 20 miles of CVNP pathways 24/7 with mostly flat, ADA-accessible trails designed for your whole group to join in.

Free outdoor yoga events also abound throughout the city, such as North Coast Namaste at lakefront Voinovich Park (Tuesday nights through September) and the Summer Plaza Series at Playhouse Square (Friday mornings at 7 am through August).

A MODERN UPDATE FOR TODAY The Cleveland Public Auditorium has hosted it all — Republican National Conventions, Cleveland State University basketball games, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductions, and even The Beatles. The multi-purpose performing arts, entertainment, and exposition facility opened in 1922, but recently received $5 million in upgrades to the electrical, plumbing, and mechanical infrastructure.

Accessibility matters — and these facilities and venues reflect that in their design and ethos. For those with sensory considerations, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame provides sensory bags with fidget toys and noise-dampening headphones, while Playhouse Square offers special sensoryfriendly performances and designated calming areas. The Rock Hall also provides interpreters for those deaf or hard of hearing. Rocket Arena keeps accessibility at the forefront with braille signage; a sensory room and weighted lap pads; and amplification and hearing aid-compatible devices.

Over at Edgewater Park, all-terrain wheelchairs are available to traverse the sandy beach, while ramps lead the way to the second floor of Edgewater Beach House (where Technicolor sunsets await).

Accessibility & Transportation

“We picked Cleveland because it was very centrally located with many flight options and an easy drive for many of our participants.”

Navigating Cleveland

BY KEVIN CARPENTER

GETTING TO AND AROUND THE LAND WITH EASE

With over 50 bus routes (and 6,000 stops) to choose from, passengers get a front row seat to the architecture, murals and parks that give CLE its distinctive look and feel. Embrace the journey one ride at a time.

Each trip on Cleveland’s public transportation system gets you there without breaking the bank. Fares start at $2.50 for one-way trips and $5 for an unlimited use daily pass.

e-BIke & Scooter Rentals

Cleveland is located within 500 miles of 50% of the United States population and is ideally situated at the intersection of three major interstate highways, namely I-90, I-77 and I-71 and along the Ohio Turnpike I-80. Easy routes and excellent positioning provide shorter drive times than other Midwest destinations.

Rent shared mobility scooters for quick and easy transportation around Cleveland. The following e-scooters – Bird, Lime, Spin and Superpedestrian — are available from 5am to 9pm, daily. Download the respective app and you’re on your way.

Amtrak

Trains arrive and depart from Amtrak’s Downtown station at North Coast Harbor. The Lake Shore Limited and Capitol Limited routes connect attendees to Cleveland from other major cities, including Chicago, Pittsburgh, Washington D.C. and New York City. Taxi & Ride Share

CLE Hopkins Airport offers dedicated taxicab service by Ace Taxi and Americab. Taxis can be found on the Baggage Claim level by carousel #11. Cleveland is also serviced by Uber and Lyft.

Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority

Our Red Line heavy-rail connects 18 stations from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport to Tower City to Windermere in East Cleveland. The Red Line also affords easy access to the lively Ohio City and Little Italy neighborhoods. The Blue & Green Line light-rail service brings the East Side to life. The Shaker Square and Van Aken retail and dining districts are just a short ride away.
