I n Cleveland, “soda” is referred to as “pop.” If you hear “Burning River” or “Holy Moses,” it’s just someone ordering a craft beer made locally by Great Lakes Brewing Company. Clevelanders will always love the Browns, Cavs and Guardians, but as of 2027, the playing field is getting a little bigger. Set to debut during MLS Next Pro’s 2027 season, Forest City Cleveland will bring men’s pro soccer to The Land, while its sister team, Cleveland Astra, will join WPSL Pro in 2028. (The former’s name pays homage to a city nickname used for an early pro baseball team, while the latter’s name reflects its intention to be the North Star for soccer in Northeast Ohio.) Both teams are expected to play in a new 10,000-seat soccer venue Downtown near the other major sports venues. 2028 also marks the WNBA’s much-anticipated Cleveland comeback. The Cleveland Sirens — their namesake a nod to the “power and pull” of Lake Erie — will be the first WNBA team in Cleveland since the Rockers folded following their 2003 season.

STARS BY CRYSTAL ANGERSOLA

It’s an all-new culinary constellation for Cleveland! The MICHELIN Guide American Great Lakes edition arrives in 2027, and inspectors are already on the ground getting the lay of The Land. This prestigious honor puts restaurants on must-eat lists and attracts traveling foodies who seek to taste the best of the Midwest. But our city’s inclusion in the guide is about more than bragging rights — it’s a chance to show the world what locals have known all along: CLE knows how to eat.

Celebrating Northeast Ohio’s diverse legacy through a mosaic of artwork and images, the International Heritage Gallery will showcase how waves of immigrants from all corners of the world shaped Cleveland. FOMO, no more! Come summer 2027, the “shared reality” venue will immerse guests in can’t-miss concerts and sporting events from around the world via a towering LED dome and wraparound screens. The historic inn may be Cleveland’s oldest building still standing on its original site, but it’s stepping boldly into the future with a new visitors center and greenway connecting its bucolic grounds to bustling Midtown.

An Ohio City gem since 1912, Cleveland’s iconic public market is getting polished. The renovated produce annex is thriving, and event space, sunny seating areas and more are opening soon.

north coast master plan

COAST WITH THE MOST Big plans are bringing new life to Cleveland’s Lake Erie waterfront

BY ANNIE ZALESKI

With Huntington Bank Field moving over to Brook Park, new possibilities are opening up on Cleveland’s waterfront — with the North Coast already transforming in real time. It’s all part of the city’s North Coast Master Plan, which aims to level up the lakefront with more recreation and entertainment options. North Coast Yard is already in its second year as a seasonal pop-up offering multiple ways to enjoy the water and great outdoors. (Think yoga, roller skating, basketball leagues and more.) Also in the works is the North Coast Connector, a land bridge linking Downtown’s green space to the shores of Lake Erie. In the long term, the city is also exploring the potential removal of Burke Lakefront Airport to free up even more waterfront land.

leveland’s riverfront renaissance keeps on rolling, thanks to major residential, commercial and recreational developments in motion. Bedrock Cleveland’s Cuyahoga Riverfront Master Plan is in its early stages of transforming 35 acres of underutilized areas behind Tower City Center into a thriving mixed-use “15-minute neighborhood” with a 6,200-seat amphitheater, riverwalk, kayak launch and more.

Around the proverbial bend, Irishtown Bend Park is transforming an overgrown hillside into a 25-acre public green space featuring trails, gathering areas and unprecedented connectivity to the vibrant Ohio City neighborhood. In the Flats, Canal Basin Park is also being reimagined to embrace its historic significance as a gateway to the Great Lakes from the Ohio & Erie Canal. Nearby on the Scranton Peninsula, new residential developments are springing up on formerly vacant industrial sites (such as the 316-unit apartment complex The Collins). Recently acquired by Cleveland Metroparks, the former Grain Craft Silos are set for conversion into a 147-room boutique hotel with event spaces, a restaurant and public river access.

ROCK REVIVAL Shining a spotlight on the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s massive expansion

16 2026 FALL/WINTER OFFICIAL INSIDER GUIDE / THISISCLEVELAND.COM

BY ANNIE ZALESKI

LET OUR LOVE OPEN THE DOOR

YOU LIVE, YOU LEARN

The impact of the Rock Hall’s $135 million, 50,000-square-foot addition is immediately apparent from the moment you arrive at the museum. Dubbed the Haslam Atrium, the new public entrance doubles as a welcoming community space for programs and events, complete with a reception area and bar — not to mention unparalleled views of Lake Erie.

The Rock Hall’s education team already creates some of the coolest field trip opportunities for tens of thousands of area K-12 students. (Case in point: “Cleveland Rocks! The Birthplace of Rock & Roll.”) At the Howley Family Student Center, students will have even more opportunities for hands-on exploration and collaborative learning in this new, dedicated multipurpose space.

WE BELONG

Three cheers for another Downtown venue! A complement to the Rock Hall’s iconic pyramid, the Patty & Jay Baker Hall provides a versatile multipurpose space for concerts, community events and educational programs. The new addition also doubles as a dynamic private event space that can hold up to 850 people.

WE ARE FAMILY

Designed by Field Operations, Taylor Family Community Park will add a touch of green near the Rock Hall, affording lakefront views and expanded community access. The museum also plans to hold its many celebratory events (including Pride Rocks, Fam Jam and Hispanic Heritage Celebration) in the new green space.

Move over, Niagara Falls! Located in Sagamore Hills Township, this popular 60-foot waterfall is one of the national park’s main attractions. After viewing, hike the 1.5-mile Brandywine Gorge Loop or go wading in nearby Brandywine Creek. THE LEDGES

Part of Virginia Kendall Park, these ancient rock formations comprise a 1.8-mile trail loop with changing elevations — making The Ledges one of the most unique (and adventurous!) hiking experiences in Northeast Ohio. BEAVER MARSH

Fort Hill

Nature’s artistry steals the show at Brecksville Reservation’s Deer Lick Cave. Spoiler alert: it’s not actually a cave at all, but rather a striking rock overhang sculpted by erosion. For more Insta-worthy gold, follow the boardwalk steps in Bedford Reservation down to the dreamy cascade of Bridal Veil Falls (which looks just as striking in its frozenover state). And at North Chagrin Reservation, the picturesque Squire’s Castle — which looks like it belongs on a “Bridgerton” set — provides the perfect vista point for a winter hike or outing.

UMN AUT

VIEWS Leaf peeping hits differently at Cleveland’s picturesque parks BY ILONA WESTFALL Call us basic, but there’s nothing better on a fall day than bundling up in a cozy sweater and leaf peeping at our favorite spots for brilliant foliage. See for yourself at 88-acre Cleveland Lakefront Nature Preserve, also a hotspot for viewing the fall bird migration with up to 1,000 birds stopping by on some October days. The award-winning Cleveland Metroparks are also a must-visit come autumn. At Squires Castle (located in North Chagrin Reservation), fiery colors provide the backdrop for a medievallooking fortress. Tackle a challenging hike in the woods behind the castle, or relax with a fall picnic on the sprawling lawn.

For those who prefer city views, West Creek Reservation delivers — admire the skyline above the treetops from the overlook at the top of the 0.7-mile Keystone Loop Trail. No seasonal bucket list is complete without a trip south to Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Not only is it Ohio’s only national park, but fall is when it truly shines. Stop at the Ledges Overlook to see the changing leaves throughout the Cuyahoga Valley spread out below. YOU, UNPLUGGED Go off the grid with these quiet escapes

BY SARAH PARR

HAPPY CAMPERS

THESE ROOTS RUN DEEP

For camping, don’t overlook Ohio’s only National Park. At Valley Overlook, 62 acres of scenic woods envelop you as soon as you step outside your furnished glamping cabin or good ol’ fashioned primitive tent. For an elevated experience, The Mohicans feature one-of-a-kind treehouses and cabins where you can let the simplicity flow surrounded by Amish Country.

Flowers and frogs and foliage, oh my! Travel to a Costa Rican rainforest and marvel at butterflies in the Cleveland Botanical Garden glasshouse, or let the kids frolic outside in the Hershey Children’s Garden. Get your steps in at Holden Arboretum’s Canopy Walk and Emergent Tower, where breathtaking 360-degree views of 3,600 acres await (and possibly even a Lake Erie sighting).

ON AN ISLAND IN THE SUN

RELAXATION IN BLOOM

It’s always island time on Kelleys Island. Providing a relaxing yin to Put-in-Bay’s high-energy yang, this Lake Erie island is known for its famous glacial grooves sure to coax the geologist in you. Closer to home, take a peaceful hike inside the Lakefront Nature Preserve— where you’ll experience prime views of the Cleveland skyline and maybe even some migratory bird sightings.

Not all urban sanctuaries are outside the city. Escape to the Eastman Reading Garden, an outdoor oasis located at the main Cleveland Public Library branch Downtown. Pick a book, read in peace (like nature intended) and enjoy the mini-park’s whimsical art as your backdrop. For fruit trees, tropical plants and stunning themed gardens—including one designed specifically for visually impaired visitors—venture over to Rockefeller Park & Greenhouse.

MUSIC REVOLUTION The heart of Rock ‘n’ Roll is beating louder than ever

The House That Rock Built BY ANNIE ZALESKI

Stodgy museums, step to the side: The glass-enclosed Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is a hip-shaking, guitar-flinging reminder of why Cleveland is ground zero for world-famous music. Memorabilia immortalizes the radio DJs and recording artists who invented the genre, while special galleries honor those who paved the way (such as Cleveland native Leo Mintz, the former Record Rendezvous owner largely considered one of the founding fathers of rock). And much like rock-and-roll itself, the multi-level museum just keeps on evolving.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

HEAD OF THE CLASS

Consider the Rock Hall’s Class of 2026 a new British Invasion. Multiple inductees hail from across the pond — led by punk survivor Billy Idol and soft-rock king Phil Collins, alternative music idols Joy Division/New Order, metal mavens Iron Maiden, sophisti-pop innovators Sade and swaggering rockers Oasis. Other inductees include soul legend Luther Vandross, Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti and a clutch of hip-hop trailblazers: Queen Latifah, MC Lyte and Wu-Tang Clan. METAL, HER WAY

Think metal is just for male musicians? Think again: The Rock Hall’s “Women in Metal: You Will Know My Name” exhibit showcases artifacts from some of the genre’s most powerful players. Get the full story on how influential icons such as Girlschool and Lita Ford paved the way for modern innovators such as Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale, guitarist Nita Strauss, Arch Enemy’s Alissa White-Gluz, the Pretty Reckless’s Taylor Momsen and more.

Bartenders double as DJs at Bad Medicine, a West Park-based listening bar where vinyl, vintage hi-fi equipment and cocktails form a potent combination. Inspired by Japanese jazz kissa listening cafes, Harmony HiFi embodies its “Listen.Sip.Repeat” mentality in Ohio City with genre listening nights, song-inspired cocktails (such as “Kiss from a Rose”) and good mood food.

AsiaTown will soon be getting in on the audiophile action with the opening of Mister Zhang’s, and Hingetown is home to Vinyl Nights at Jukebox, which invites patrons to browse its generous selection or just bring their own favorite selections for a spin. (The weekly event is held on Taco Tuesdays, so double the fun!) And if jazz music is your jam, head for Nightjar in Larchmere — which curates a live music lineup on weekends to complement its vinyl listening sessions during the week.

House and EDM music echo into the early hours of the morning across Cleveland, thanks to a growing wave of after-hours dance parties. A self-proclaimed five-star dive bar that prioritizes community atmosphere, Crobar is credited with igniting the trend back in 2022. Located in Ohio City, Bird of Paradise follows suit as a speakeasy-meetscocktail lounge filled with tropical vibes. Nearby, Smoke and Mirrors does its part to keep Cleveland weird from beneath an Oaxacan restaurant with popping music, funhouse mirrors and empty windows. And The Bird’s Nest beckons those who want to BYOB or stay sober to roost in its AsiaTown warehouse.

If punk, metal, and rock are your jam, check out My Mind’s Eye Records in Lakewood. Committed to stocking “records that the others don’t care about,” rare finds abound.

Late Nite Records lives up to its name, open daily until midnight in the Clark-Fulton neighborhood. Its brightly painted exterior beckons vinyl collectors into a carefully curated selection of hip-hop, rock and more. Let Blue Arrow point the way to a treasure trove of used LPs, music memorabilia and retro tees. You’ll know you’re in the right place by the floor covered in vintage album covers. Happily ensconced in its new location above Visible Voice Books, Hausfrau Record Shop keeps it interesting with a small but mighty collection of metal, jazz, hip-hop, world music and more.

A checkerboard floor and good vibes welcome you into The Vinyl Groove Records, home to 50,000+ records in Old Brooklyn. (They also repair and restore vintage gear to its former groovy glory!)

Culture Club

BELOVED,

THEN

AND NOW BY NICOLE D. MILLER

In the coming months, Cleveland Play House will bring “Annie” and “The Da Vinci Code” to the stage, while the KeyBank Broadway Series continues through May 2027 with “Maybe Happy Ending,” “Boop!” and “The Phantom of the Opera.” The lineup also welcomes comedian Jay Leno (January 30) and blues-rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa (February 13).

Through February 2027, Ohio is writing a love letter of sorts to literary giant Toni Morrison with a yearlong statewide celebration. A Lorain native, Morrison was not only a Pulitzer Prize recipient but also the first Black female Nobel Prize winner — leaving a legacy of critically acclaimed works such as Beloved and Song of Solomon. Led by Literary Cleveland and several partner organizations, the celebration has libraries, organizations and arts groups across the state catching fire with an event lineup honoring the historical trendsetter.

Whether you’re catching a Broadway favorite, laughing along with Leno or settling in for live music, Playhouse Square makes it easy to turn a night at the theater into a full Cleveland experience.

From sidewalks to spotlights, art fills the city.

CELEBRATING BLACK CULTURE Cleveland’s Black community is deeply woven into the fabric of the city

Heritage Comes Alive

BY AJA HANNAH

KARAMU HOUSE

AFRICAN AMERICAN CULTURAL GARDEN

Who needs Broadway with world-class theatre in our own backyard? Cleveland is an epicenter of arts and culture, boasting the nation’s oldest African American theater. Founded in 1915, this cultural staple sits on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. Enjoy professional theatre productions and arts education while honoring the Black experience.

Located within the Cleveland Cultural Gardens, architect Daniel Bickerstaff designed this space to convey the past, present and future of the African American community, as well as to promote the education and interest of its culture and heritage.

COZAD-BATES HOUSE

Long regarded for its important role on the Underground Railroad, the Cozad-Bates House stands as the only surviving pre-Civil War structure in University Circle. Its indoor-outdoor interpretive center underscores the area’s significance in the abolitionist movement with relics including photos, newspaper articles, engravings and more.

Karamu House

DJAPO CULTURAL ARTS INSTITUTION

Bringing West African dances to Cleveland since 2008, Djapo has been putting on colorful choreographed performances alongside the sounds of traditional drumbeats. Catch one of their shows or bring some main character energy and take one of their courses. Participants of all ages are invited to attend.

* Did You Know?

Known as “Station Hope,” the final stop on the Underground Railroad was located here at St. John’s Episcopal Church (a respite for freedom seekers before crossing Lake Erie to Canada).

WHERE HISTORY SPEAKS BY AJA HANNAH

At the intersection of Route 6 and East Blvd., 10-foot-tall aluminum silhouettes sprout out of the warm summer grass depicting protesters in motion with megaphones. Dubbed “The Protest,” this vibrant art installation welcomes visitors into the red brick Langston Hughes Branch Library. Once inside, you’ll find the complete works of Harlem Renaissance poet Langston Hughes — plus an autographed copy of his 1920 Central High School yearbook (where he was named “Class Poet” — very on brand). Cleveland History Center is also jam-packed with Black excellence. Traverse the outdoor African American Art and History walk; delve into the document-rich African American Archives; or learn about Cleveland’s own political powerhouse duo of Carl & Louis Stokes.

NASA Glenn Research Center is another highf lying Cleveland creator, fueled by its crucial role in aeronautics, space exploration and additional bleeding-edge technology.

As the nation’s fifth-largest financial sector, Northeast Ohio is home to fintech leaders such as KeyBank, MAI Capital Management and Splash Financial. Information technology is a prominent regional strength, too — via robust educational institutions, access to early-stage capital and a highly collaborative atmosphere that prioritizes idea-sharing. To that end, Cleveland is fertile ground for new startups, with organizations like JumpStart providing much-needed mentorship, funding and resources to newbie entrepreneurs. Plug and Play Cleveland is also leading the way as a key connector and business accelerator advancing digital health, pharma and enterprise solutions.

PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE Started by two Clevelanders in 1937, the Progressive Corporation remains one of the region’s most prolific employers.

Booming with Business MAJOR INVESTMENTS ARE RESHAPING THE LAND, ONE BOLD PROJECT AT A TIME

BY DOUGLAS J. GUTH & KEVIN CARPENTER

CLEVELAND CLINIC

BLUE ABYSS

About $1.3 billion in capital investments will support exciting happenings like a 1-millionsquare-foot Neurological Institute building. Additional projects include two new laboratory research facilities totaling 300,000 square feet, including the Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Global Center for Pathogen & Human Health Research.

The U.K.-based aerospace company is shooting for the stars in Brook Park. It is building a $250 million commercial astronaut training and research facility near NASA Glenn, featuring a 50-meter-deep pool that mimics the extreme conditions of outer space and deep-sea exploration.

This facility will double as a tricked-out training facility for our Cleveland Cavaliers and a worldclass sports health center open to the public. Truly cutting-edge stuff — like incorporating artificial intelligence to help Clinic pros crack the code of athletic performance. CANON HEALTHCARE USA

Canon has planted its flag in Cleveland by acquiring a 41,630-square-foot facility in University Circle, not far from Cleveland Clinic’s main campus. Even better, Canon plans to partner with its new neighbor on next-level imaging and health care technologies (think MRI, CT and ultrasound) to better diagnose and treat patients.

MICELI DAIRY PRODUCTS

Homegrown companies continue to invest in The Land — and themselves. Cleveland’s own Miceli Dairy Products recently began a three-phase $128 million expansion with an initial focus on increasing storage and delivery space. The glow-up also brings 250 new jobs to the Greater Buckeye neighborhood. CLEVELAND HOPKINS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TRANSFORMATION

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport’s $1.6 billion evolution kicked off in 2025. Scheduled to open in phases through 2032, the project includes 3,600 new parking spaces, a modern terminal with expanded ticketing and upgraded security, plus future concourses, aprons and airfield improvements to enhance the traveler experience.

Neighborhoods Clevelanders aren’t squares, but we do have two: Euclid Avenue connects Public Square and Playhouse Square. In between, you’ll discover newly built apartments, celebrated restaurants, stay-up-til-dawn spots and family-friendly sites. Get a group and go to The Flats for grub and games, or take the kids on a walking tour and check things off the Cleveland bucket list. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is a music mecca by the Lake, and nearby Great Lakes Science Center makes science fun. (Plus, Dippin’ Dots!) Progressive Field and Rocket Arena offer some of the best in pro sports and entertainment.

From sunrise to sundown, the Downtown dining scene is ready to make your day. Wake up at Phoenix Coffee, or take a leisurely brunch at Betts inside the Kimpton Schofield Hotel. (Grab-and-go options are also available if you’re headed to a Cavaliers game. Win-win.) For lunch, go find out why Johnny’s Little Bar is one of Cleveland’s best-kept secrets, or hit the new Good Pizza location for a gooey pizza pie.

Once dinner hits, let your taste buds lead the way to buzzy spots like Cordelia (Midwest-comfort); Marble Room (steaks and seafood); Acqua Di Dea (Mediterranean cuisine); Taza (Lebanese); or Butcher & The Brewer (brewpub). End the day with a “cheers” at always-busy (and rightfully so) Masthead Brewing Co.

Cleveland has “retail therapy” written all over the city. Start at Cleveland Clothing Co., where it’s always tee time. Show off your Cleveland pride — and instill some in others — by gifting souvenirs people actually want. In the Warehouse District, make pour decisions at Constantino’s Market’s wine selection, or grab some organic produce or a chef ready-made dish. Not in the mood for food? Inside the 5th Street Arcades, DIY inspo abounds at Coco’s Selfie Space, while Intro Boutique stocks affordable contemporary and business-casual options with accessories to match. Tower City’s revival offers designer streetwear for men from 360 Clothing Studios; luxury sneakers at DTLR; and caps and jerseys from Playball Sports & Fashion. PLAY

All three of Cleveland’s pro sports teams do their thing here — cheer on the Cavs at Rocket Arena, or get a doubleheader of Guardians baseball in at Progressive Field come baseball season. (You can also tailgate at Huntington Bank Field during football season.) More into shows over sports? Playhouse Square is your spot for Broadway shows, while House of Blues attracts national acts with a side of Southern-inspired food. Fun is the name of the game in The Flats, with a lively row of riverfront restaurants and nightclubs. Bet on a good time at JACK Casino, or taste your way down East 4th Street with a nightcap at comedy club Pickwick & Frolic. For family-friendly fare, look no further than the Greater Cleveland Aquarium, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Great Lakes Science Center.

MUST-SEE DOWNTOWN 1 Show off your fandom on East 4th Street. 2 Big discoveries for little scientists. 3 Bank on cocktails at Vault. 4 Sunday Funday tailgating. 5 Raise ‘em up at Jolene’s.

ar from flashy but rich with history, culture and creativity, Collinwood is one of those neighborhoods that quietly has it all. See for yourself in the Waterloo Arts District, dotted with street art murals and lined with live music venues, art galleries, maker spaces and more. (The area’s monthly “Walk All Over Waterloo” events provide a great excuse to explore it all every first Friday.) Less than a mile away, East 185th Street boasts ample culinary cred — from fine dining at The Standard to social sips at Two Friends Brewing. Add in the area’s prime perch on Lake Erie, and it’s clear that Collinwood deserves a closer look.

EAST SIDE EATS

BY LESLIE BASALLA-MCCAFFERTY

Culinary craft shines all day long in Collinwood. Start at Six Shooter Coffee for seasonal lattes, sunny vibes and the coolest wallpaper in town. Come lunch, savor a wood-fired Neapolitan pizza from Citizen Pie, sink your teeth into a Slovenian sausage sandwich at Raddell’s Sausage Shop or head to Blasian Fusion, where culinary worlds collide. Making a night of it? Step into The Standard’s Mediterranean specialties — nibble tapas or go big with bouillabaisse. Take things “Cleveland coastal” at Roux with oysters, pierogi and elevated specials, and don’t sleep on Millie’s Cocktails. While its creative libations make an ideal nightcap, the menu delights with inspired spins on Hungarian classics.

Find your flow at Pop Life, a Collinwood wellness hub blending yoga, art, movement and community inside a colorful, creatively reimagined neighborhood space.

PUMP UP THE VOLUME

3

If Cleveland is the heart of rock and roll, Collinwood’s Waterloo Road is one of the major arteries. Woman-owned Beachland Ballroom & Tavern acts as the musical nucleus of the neighborhood — offering not just a packed lineup of local and visiting bands, but also regular flea markets and vinyl brunches. Live music also draws crowds to beloved watering hole Millard Fillmore Presidential Library and recent addition The Treelawn Music Hall & Social Club. For all your vintage and vinyl shopping needs, Star Pop, This Way Out and Blue Arrow Records are more than happy to oblige with all things eclectic. CREATIVE LIVING

BY TRICIA L. CHAVES

While Collinwood may be famous for its summertime Waterloo Arts Fest — which turns 25 in 2027 — art abounds year-round in this creative community. Whether you’re hoping to admire, acquire or create, the Waterloo Arts District provides plenty of inspiration for the artist in you. Pop art and personal growth intersect at Pop Life, where you’ll find a plethora of wellness workshops and vegan fare to fuel your adventure. Browse local and visiting artists’ exhibits at Article Gallery, Deep Dive Art Projects and Framed Gallery. Try your hand at textiles at Praxis Fiber Workshop, take a pottery workshop at BRICK Ceramic + Design Studio or drop into a complimentary class at Waterloo Arts.

MUST-SEE COLLINWOOD 1 Beachland Ballroom cures your live music fix. 2 Dive into Roux’s coastal fare. 3 Find your groove at Blue Arrow Records. 4 Sip into Hungarian-inspired roots at Millie’s. 4

2. Ooh, la, la! Brunch at Le Petit Triangle Café is très délicieux, featuring notable nibbles like Blood Orange Marmalade French Toast and the Ratatouille Crepe. 3. Known for its ice cream, Mason’s Creamery flips the script in early November with slurpworthy ramen. Grab a Korean corn dog, too!

OHIO CITY West Side Market

Foodies and fans of craft beer call Ohio City’s Market District their urban oasis. Just across the Cuyahoga River, west of Downtown, the city’s yellow-bricked West Side Market has been home to haggle-friendly meat, seafood and veggie vendors for more than 100 years, but it’s Ohio City’s Victorian-era homes, boutique eateries and famous craft brewers (like Great Lakes Brewing Co.) that have made the neighborhood one of the city’s symbols for urban renewal (where hip meets heritage). But its coolest locale might be the entrepreneurial and artsy district of Hingetown. And let’s not forget the new kid on the block: INTRO, a massive 297-unit apartment complex with a rooftop pool and instant hotspots like modern steakhouse Jaja.

Historic buildings have found thriving new life in MidTown — where the dollhouse-like Stager-Beckwith Mansion now houses the Children’s Museum of Cleveland, and music venues like the 1913-built Agora Theatre have undergone rocking renovations. MidTown is also home to the city’s oldest building still standing in its original location: Dunham Tavern. Thanks to its plum location on the RTA HealthLine, MidTown also has plenty of shiny new buildings dotting its streetscape, such as the Cleveland Foundation headquarters, with more on the way.

Middleburg Heights Nature and urban life intersect in Middleburg Heights, starting with the scenic Big Creek Parkway winding through the Cleveland Metroparks. Four-legged friends will find their happy place at Tri-City Bark Park, while craft beer lovers convene at favorites such as Fat Head’s and The Brew Kettle. This southwest suburb is also an educational hub, anchored by Polaris Career Center’s programs for high school and adult learners.
