the leader of proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, with another passport after he escaped from Nigeria. Kanu was first arrested in Nigeria on October 14, 2015,
following campaigns for the Sovereign State of Biafra and arraigned for treason. He was granted bail in April 2017 but fled the country. The IPOB leader was rearrested last Sunday in an unnamed
country and returned to court to continue his trial. THISDAY, in a series of email exchanges with the British High Commission in Abuja, had requested clarifications on how the
IPOB leader obtained fresh British passport. In the most recent email, THISDAY enquired: “We need some further clarification, please. Are you saying the British government did not

Masari: Nigeria Battling with Worst Form of Insecurity Francis Sardauna in Katsina The Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, yesterday lamented the spate of banditry and other nefarious activities afflicting the country, saying
the nation is battling with the worst form of insecurity. He expressed worries that people who were living peacefully as neighbours, friends and were attending the same markets, weddings,
funerals, and naming ceremonies without conflict, were now killing themselves and raping their wives and children. Masari, who spoke in Katsina, during the
commissioning and handing over of Kafur Islamic Centre, urged the warring parties to sheathe their swords and work together to avert bloodletting bedeviling the country and for peace and development
to thrive. The centre was donated by Wagf Su'ad Al'abdul Jaleel through As-sheikh Tariq, with the support of the African Continent Committee and the State of Kuwait.

Michael Olugbode in Abuja Former Borno State Governor, Senator Kashim Shettima has thrown his weight behind the call for power shift to Southern Nigeria in 2023. He said it was only proper for the North, especially the All Progressives Congress (APC), to allow power to shift to the South, insisting that there was a gentlemen’s agreement that power must oscillate between North and South at the formation of the ruling party. Shettima, who is now a Senator representing Borno Central, made the call for a power shift in Abuja yesterday at the public presentation of a book titled: “Standing for the Truth with Courage”.
