meeting with the President at the Government House, Abakaliki, had pleaded with Buhari to release Kanu. The Chairman, South-East Traditional Rulers Council, Eze
Charles Mkpuma, delivered the plea. Responding, the President said: ‘‘I have listened carefully to the various appeals from the elders to the traditional
leaders regarding a wide range of options, and as I have said previously, this matter remains in the full purview of the courts where it will be properly adjudicated.

Imo Loses, S’Court Cedes 17 Oil Wells to Rivers State Declares only Rivers entitled to 13% derivation from the wells
Alex Enumah in Abuja The Supreme Court yesterday resolved the issue of the state
entitled to the revenues from 17 oil wells in Akri and Mbede communities in favour of Rivers State.
Both Rivers and Imo states have been engaged in legal battles over the ownership of the 17 oil wells located in
boundary communities between the two states. The National Boundary Commission had in the Nigeria
Administrative Map, 10th, 11th, 12th, and other maps delineated the two communities in which the 17 oil wells are
