Corporation (NNPC) and, by extension, Addax Petroleum. The Nigerian government, through the national oil company, had been in a Production Sharing Contract (PSC) with Addax Petroleum, a subsidiary of SINOPEC, the national oil company of
People’s Republic of China, on these oil blocks. PSC is a contractual arrangement for exploration and production of petroleum resources where the contractor undertakes all the financial, technical and operational risks associated with petroleum
operation in return for a share of profit, after production cost, payment of royalty, and taxes. In this case, the assets are owned by the NNPC which brought in the contractor, Addax. THISDAY checks last night indicated that the decision to
return the operating permits on the four facilities was taken by the President to avert a major face-off with the Chinese government which is assisting the federal government with huge loans for several infrastructural projects across the country.

Aishatu, Ahmadu Bello’s Daughter Dies in Dubai at 75 Festus Akanbi Aishatu, the second daughter of the late Premier of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello (Sardauna of Sokoto) has died at the age of 75.
The deceased's son, Hassan Danbaba, who confirmed the death explained that his mother died in the early hours of yesterday at a Dubai hospital after a brief illness. She was survived by five
children – one son and four daughters - among whom are a prominent business man, Magajin Garin Sokoto, Hassan Danbaba, and Asmau, the wife of Sarkin Sudan, Shehu Malami. She also left behind, a
younger sister, who is the last daughter of the late Premier and wife of late Umaru Aliyu Shinkafi. Until her death, Aishatu was a widow of Ahmad Danbaba, the late Marafan of Sokoto

Shock, Anger as Bandits Kill Three Kaduna Greenfield Varsity Students Festus Akanbi, Bennett Oghifo, in Lagos, Chuks Okocha, Abuja and John Shiklam in Kaduna Nigerians yesterday reacted with shock and anger to the killing of three of the students of Greenfield University, Kaduna kidnapped by bandits on Tuesday from the school. The Kaduna State’s commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, had in a statement yesterday morning, announced that the bandits shot dead three of the abducted students. As tears flowed, former Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 election, Atiku Abubakar; leader of the Yoruba pan socio-cultural group, Afenifere, Pa Ayo Adebanjo; the Peoples Democratic Party, two Senior Advocates of Nigeria -Mr, Femi Falana and Mike Ozekhome, and the leadership of the Kaduna State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria expressed anger,
sadness and disappointment in government’s failure to rescue the students before being killed by the criminal elements. Atiku, who described the killing as heart-breaking, said it was time to allow governors to manage security in their states. He said in his verified tweeter handle: "Heartbreaking to learn of the killing of three of the abducted students of Greenfield University, Kaduna. How long shall we continue to lose precious souls? May their families and friends be comforted. It is time states are granted constitutional roles in the management of security."
