the Presidential Villa, with a charge on faith leaders to make contributions and sacrifices towards ensuring harmony amongst people of different religious and ethnic backgrounds in Nigeria and

elsewhere. Osinbajo told the delegation that was accompanied by the Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, His Eminence, Most Rev. Samuel Uche, that in most societies

that have been seamless, a lot of it has had to do with what men and women of God did. The vice president said: “I think that the role of the church in bringing that harmony is crucial. The

political leadership is one, but the solutions to the world’s deepest problem lies in Gospel and I believe that we as the body of Christ hold the key to several of the problems. “So, the question is how

Emirates Suspends Flights to Lagos, Hundreds of Nigerians Stranded in Ghana Chinedu Eze Dubai-based mega carrier, Emirates Airlines, has stopped flight operations to Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos until the

airport’s Instrument Landing System (ILS) is fixed. ILS is a navigational aid that guides aircraft to land, especially during low visibility. Since last Monday, airlines, especially foreign carriers

have been diverting flights destined to Lagos to Accra, Ghana and Dakar, Senegal due to Harmattan haze, which lowers visibility. Last Thursday, Emirates diverted its Lagos flight to

Accra and engaged domestic carrier, Arik Air to airlift them to Lagos. THISDAY learnt yesterday that Emirates recalled its three sets of crew stranded in Lagos since Monday and flew them to

Dubai on a chartered flight via Abuja. Reports indicate that over 1500 Nigerians are standard in Accra, Ghana as there were no adequate arrangements to airlift them from Accra

The Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), had declared Diri winner of the Bayelsa governorship election yesterday after the Supreme Court nullified the election of Lyon, barely 24 hours to his inauguration. Diri scored 143,172 votes out of 146,999 lawful votes and was subsequently presented

Chief Judge of the State, Justice Kate Abiri, administered the oath of office on Diri and his deputy, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpor. The inauguration ceremony was moved from the Samson Siasia stadium for security reasons, following protests that erupted in the morning.
