James Emejo in Abuja President Muhammadu Buhari has given the nod to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to blacklist any firm, its owner
and top management caught smuggling or dumping any of the 43 items which are not eligible for foreign exchange. CBN Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele disclosed this during
a meeting with oil palm producers in Abuja. He said the presidential directive mandated the apex bank to provide support to firms and individuals that want
to expand the production of 10 different commodities including rice, maize, cassava, tomatoes, cotton, oil palm, poultry, fish, livestock dairy and cocoa. He said the bank would
also work to encourage viable off-taker agreements between farmers and large-scale palm producing companies. Emefiele said: "We want to ensure palm oil production

ISWAP Attacks Military Base in Borno, Kills Commanding OfďŹ cer Michael Olugbode in Maiduguri The Commanding Officer of the 158 Battalion of the Nigerian Army, Lt. Col. Azubuike, and several of his
troops have been killed by fighters of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP). The gallant soldiers fell during an attack on their facility located at Kareto village, in Mobbar Local
Government Area, north of Borno State, on Wednesday. ISWAP had, in the last three days, laid siege on parts of Borno State, killing scores of soldiers. According to sources, the terrorists had taken the
soldiers by surprise, and were unable to make needed resistance. A top military source, who confirmed the incident, told our correspondent on telephone that the attackers
were not repelled, and that troops at the location were dislodged by the rampaging terrorists. The source said: “On 12 Jun 2019, BHTs/ISWAP elements attacked troops of

Lawan: Henceforth, N’Assembly Will Pass Budgets Within 3 Months If presented in October, we will get it out before Christmas break Omololu Ogunmade in Abuja Henceforth, the National Assembly will pass the annual Appropriation Bill within three months, Senate President Ahmad Lawan pledged yesterday in Abuja. Lawan who gave the assurance while answering questions from journalists in the State House, said that the unanimous decision was a joint agreement between the Senate and the House of Representatives. However, he was swift to add that fulfilling this promise would be premised on the
preparedness of the executive to live up to its responsibility by presenting the budget early enough. According to Lawan, if the budget is presented in September or October, the National Assembly will ensure its passage before proceeding on Christmas break every year. He explained that getting that done would require a sacrifice by both the National Assembly and the executive.
