Buhari Wants Europe, US to Help Recharge Lake Chad It would be the greatest western investment in Africa Omololu Ogunmade in Abuja President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday in Abuja said the greatest investment Europe and the United States could

make in Africa now was to help in accomplishing inter-basin water transfer to recharge the Lake Chad. Receiving the Chairman of the African Union

Commission, Mr. Moussa Faki Mahamat, in the State House, Buhari recalled how the Lake Chad had served as the source of livelihood for millions of West African

citizens in the past. Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, said the president listed countries which benefitted

24-Hour Curfew Re-imposed in Kaduna as Abducted Monarch is Killed El-Rufai vows to bring culprits to justice John Shiklam in Kaduna Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State yesterday reimposed the 24 hour curfew in the metropolis and some local government areas, following

the killing of the abducted monarch, the Agom Adara, Mr. Maiwada Raphael Galadima. The governor, who expressed shock at the development while extolling the sterling qualities of the

murdered First Class Chief, vowed to work with security agencies to ensure justice for “revered man." The traditional ruler who was abducted recently on his way from Kasuwan Magani

to his palace in Kachia was killed on Thursday night by his abductors after collecting an undisclosed sum of money as ransom. News of his death threw the city into confusion as restive

youth burnt tyres along the Sabon Tasha Express Way, causing residents to flee the area. The 24 hour curfew earlier imposed on the city following violent clashes that claimed 77

lives within the metropolis and Kasuwan Magani community, was Wednesday reviewed to commence from 6:00am to 5:00pm daily till further notice. Continued on page 6

PDP to Buhari: Present Your CertiďŹ cate, Nigerians Not Interested in AfďŹ davit President’s credential raises huge questions about his integrity APC: It’s a dead issue, we’re focused on salvaging Nigeria Adedayo Akinwale in Abuja The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to make available his academic credentials like other presidential candidates and stop bugging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with affidavits. In a swift reaction, the All Progressives Congress said the certificate issue was a dead one, and that the party was focused on salvaging Nigeria destroyed by the PDP. INEC had last Thursday published a list of candidates, who are participating in the 2019 presidential elections and their credentials. But Buhari, who is seeking a re-election, failed to provide his academic credentials, which

is part of the requirements to qualify to contest elective positions in Nigeria. The President had told INEC that all his academic credentials, including his General Certificate of Education, were in the custody of the military. Reacting to the president’s failure to make available his credentials, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan in a statement yesterday in Abuja, challenged Buhari to show proof of his ‘vaunted integrity’ by presenting his academic documents, if he has any to INEC and put an end to the certificate saga. The main opposition party said that a situation where Continued on page 6
