Our professional registers CHARTERED BIOLOGIST (CBIOL)

REGISTERED SCIENTIST (RSCI)

Chartered Biologist acts as a gold-standard for professional competence, and provides a benchmark for bioscientists working in a vast and continually growing array of settings.

RSci is open to members of the RSB working in a variety of roles and industries. Applicants will be asked to provide examples from their career which demonstrate the required professional competencies.

Chartered Biologist (CBiol) is a registration offered solely by the Royal Society of Biology, and is available for members who have the appropriate professional experience or have successfully completed Royal Society of Biology CPD for the past two years at the MRSB or FRSB grade.

Applicants will be asked to provide examples from their career which demonstrate the required professional competencies.

Training and continuing professional development CHARTERED SCIENCE TEACHER (CSCITEACH)* CSciTeach is open to members of the RSB who are involved in the specific practice and advancement of science teaching and learning. Applicants will be asked to provide examples from their career which demonstrate the required professional competencies.

To find out more about this award and check your eligibility, email your CV to csciteach@rsb.org.uk Minimum membership grade: Member PLANT HEALTH PROFESSIONALS (PHP) The Plant Health Professionals register is open to members of the RSB working in the plant health sector in industry, government departments or academia. Applicants will be asked to provide examples from their career and training to demonstrate the competencies, which are based on the GB strategy for plant health and biosecurity.

The RSB supports the careers of all our members, and one way we do this is through our training courses and CPD scheme.

Continuing professional development is defined as: any learning activity that you undertake to develop and enhance your own work or practice. All our members can enrol in CPD and it is a great opportunity to record and monitor your ongoing development. This not only has the advantages of contributing to professional registrations, but can be useful during interviews, applications and to reflect on your achievements.

The RSB offers a wide range of online and in-person training courses and events, which can all contribute to your CPD, and applications for professional registers.
