NOV/DEC 2020

Wow! What a year… Despite the challenging events 2020 brought, I cannot be more proud of how our team stepped up to the challenge and executed for our customers, communities and each other. Outstanding!

Happy Holidays THANK YOU FOR A SUCCESSFUL YEAR John Schmidt, President

At the start of the year, we anticipated that we would have a strong year but we had no idea that we would be facing a year with the back drop of a global virus. Despite this, our team had a record year for sales, production, as well as safety engagement. We completed the year with over 10 million tons of sales and production as well as a record number of plants meeting the target points for safety submissions and activities. We did this all while working to keep our employees healthy. For that, I cannot thank everyone of you and your families for the all hard work and support that made this year a success. It was not without tremendous effort, and teamwork by everyone. Now as we look to finish the year and take a well-deserved break to enjoy time with our loved ones, please look for opportunities to support and encourage those around us that were impacted by the effects of the virus. Our greatest blessings are each other and our gifts of kindness we share. Merry Christmas, stay safe and healthy as we look forward to 2021.

5TH YEAR AND STRONGER THAN EVER! Kim Payne, Plant Clerk

I so love this tree and keep thinking how great it is to not only work for a company who supports us as employees but supports community across the board for all their plants. Then, to think of these smaller local community businesses and everyday people who have donated and have even said they are happy to be able to donate because they are grateful to still be employed this year...incredible! The news shows so many hateful terrible events but in small and large towns across America the donations are still pouring in – that’s how America does it!

Peyton kistler Job Shadows His Dad Peyton Kistler has always been fascinated by the large piles of material and the larger than life equipment he saw at his dads work at US Aggregates Columbus. Seymour High School set aside a day for the seniors of the class of 2021 to take the opportunity to job shadow or go on a college visit. Peyton knew exactly where he wanted to job shadow. He asked his dad, Tim Kistler, if it would be possible to job shadow at US Aggregates Columbus. After following protocol, Plant Manager Steve Kistler (also Peyton’s uncle) informed Peyton that he would be able to job shadow with Tim Kistler in the QC department. Peyton was able to experience pulling a sample from the pile, splitting a sample, running a sample and the input of the sample into our Stonemont application. Peyton was excited to see the behind the scenes of the place that has fascinated him since he was young boy. Peyton said he loved seeing all the aspects of the QC job. He especially liked seeing the mixture of materials to produce certain products. He didn’t realize all the science that goes into stone products. He loved his experience at the US Aggregates Columbus plant and the people he was able to meet on his visit. Peyton plans of attending IUPUC in Columbus in the fall and plans to major in Biology. He plans to use this knowledge in the medical field upon graduation.

Donation Requests Being an active part of our communities is important to us. Some times that involves more than just partnering or volunteering. It can also involve monitary and product donations. Every plant should be doing something and we want to keep a pulse on how we are engaging through our charitable giving. Please be sure to send all requests for donation forms (found in Sharepoint in the Administrative library) to Tiffany Stauch so that she can help assist you with the process and be sure we are capturing the right information.
