Degree Shows is back, gathering top creative works from the young and inspiring minds of university students from the various different fields of design in Thailand. The works do not only reflect each student's personal vision, but also the development of the country's design education as a whole. After graduation, these students may take on different courses in life; some may not even choose to have a career in design, but the ability to creatively overcome both expected and unexpected obstacles, and bring about a successful finished outcome will remain and continue to be developed, no matter what career path they choose to follow.
Creativity helps people in their search for, and creation of, new possibilities in life: it allows us to visualize future possibilities. It's the power of the imagination that propels the drive to create something different and better, be it new ideas and methods, or new developments and innovations; it is a broadening of the mind.
Most people dislike changes and having to come to terms with something new, but a good designer will strive to realize their vision of the future despite all obstacles. We wish you all the best in your chosen career path. We will be waiting to see your bright futures unfold, proudly remembering that we were once, a part of Degree Shows, together.

The responsibility of forest preservation should be a collective awareness from everyone in society. The concept is translated into a space and nature trial where ‘activity and architecture’ are conceived in the heart of a desolate landscape.

This architectural project is constructed to observe and contemplate the natural phenomena taking place in the endless etherial sphere. The design is conceived from the interpretation of referencing diagram created from the information about the venue where the architecture is located / The program and direction of the actual phenomena are created by interpreting the obtained information into three-dimensional space, while the location indicates the physical boundary of the work / the program indicates the volume of the space / the phenomena indicate the solid - void, which are later superimposed to create the most ideally suitable space where the sky and sky phenomena can be observed and contemplated.

Women Dress Design Using Wire Blocking Disperse Dyes Technique for MONOSODIUM

This technique helps protect the disperse of dye color from vaporizing from the fabric. The wire is used to reduce the time spent in arranging the fabric, while the color shade that emerges around the wire gives an interesting unique touch to the pattern. The technique also leaves traces of an imprint onto the fabric which the print screening technique is unable to do. The project also shows the efficient use of resources in the production process.

Currently the fuel consumption in Thailand is at a critical level due to economic growth and this has lead to price increases in oil and fuel. In addition research shows seventy percent of households in Thailand still use charcoal for cooking. This prompted the idea to design ‘Wayu Buth stove’, a biomass gas stove using biomass energy from agricultural waste. Biomass does not emit toxic fumes into the atmosphere and reduces fossil energy consumption as well as become a source of income for local farmers. It also reduces household energy consumption costs.

Mangoes are a popular fruit both for consumers and local agriculturists. Proper wrapping methods for mangoes can result in smooth, beautiful skin and larger sizes, ensuring better quality and selling price. For agriculturists who have to climb up the tree or stairs to wrap mangoes can be quite dangerous. The idea behind this design is to create a tool that can offer functionality that is flexible at different heights and the users’ behavior. It is also easy to store, maintain, lightweight, durable and can be mass produced.

Dyslexia Experimental Typeface for Dyslexics

A question was raised about the possibility to design a typeface for people with Dyslexia, and whether the reading difficulty can be resolved by the incorporation of design. The hypothesis is that there is a possibility to create a set of typeface for people with impaired reading ability. The project also experiments with the use of two different sets of structure to create two sets of typeface within one complete font set. The project conducted research on information obtained from medical practitioners and ten Dyslexic patients. This information was used as the design parameters and the typeface was tested by patients throughout the design process.

Symmetry refers to an absolute balance in all type of art. Typography relies heavily on symmetry because ultimately well-designed fonts succeed in communicating. With this notion I experiment with Thai letters by giving them an unconventional look and feel, yet still focus on legibility. The symmetry theory-based Thai font employs the Gestalt theory of positive and negative space in each letter. The font has four symmetrical aspects: the x axis, the y axis, yin and yang and symmetry by separation.
