hank you for choosing The York School, and welcome! Over the next few months and years, you will become familiar with all The York School has to offer and the many ways to get involved with our community. We are looking forward to meeting you (again) and helping you on the journey.

This Welcome Package is a useful guide for you to refer to in these next few months. While there is a great deal of information here, it is also easy to navigate. Information for All School is in green, Junior School (JK-5) is in yellow, Middle School (6-8) is in red and Senior School (9-12) is in blue. Focusing on the grade into which your child is entering can assist, and use the Table of Contents to help you search specific questions. Feel free to call or email us – contact information is provided for the people you most likely need to be in touch with.

Welcome from the Director of Admission & Advancement We are excited to have you join The York School community in September!

Over the past year, our Admission Department has worked closely with you and your family to ensure that The York School is the right fit. The next few months will be an exciting time as we continue to help ensure that your child has a successful transition and you have an opportunity to connect with our community.

Our Advancement Department is committed to engaging The York School community in support of our students and faculty, in the form of fundraising, volunteer programs and community building events and initiatives. Thanks to our generous community, previous donations have provided for major projects such as the renovations of both the Junior and the Middle and Senior School campuses and countless program enhancements over the years in the form of special guest speakers, professional athletic coaches, equipment and student travel for unique educational experiences.

Welcome from the President of the York School Parents’ Association You and your family have joined an engaged, active, and caring community that promotes the development of the whole student.

The York School Parents’ Association (YPA) plays a large part in contributing to this vibrant community. The YPA is a volunteer organization that conducts events that increase school spirit and camaraderie. The YPA also encourages volunteerism and raises funds to support the school. All parents and guardians of current students are automatically members of the YPA. Some of the events organized by the YPA include Coffee Connects, lectures, Pancake Breakfasts and the Second-Hand Uniform Sale. There are many opportunities to volunteer throughout the year, so please consider getting involved! From being a Class Parent to helping at the YPA Halloween Party at the Junior School, it is fun, rewarding and a great opportunity to meet and get to know other parents in our community.

The YPA Executive is elected at the YPA Annual General Meeting in May to lead and direct the YPA for the following year. We are always looking for interested members to join the Executive, so please consider being a part of this vibrant and dedicated group.

The YPA membership fee is $40 per student, charged at the beginning of the school year through your child’s student account. Full information about the YPA, who we are, what we do, and how you can get involved, is available on YorkNet. Simply sign in and click on the YPA button.

The York School Fund

The York School Fund is our annual giving program that helps York students shine brighter. The York School offers a world-class IB education and like all top-tier independent schools we rely on donations to be truly competitive and enable our students and faculty to meet their full potential.

While tuition and fees cover our basic operating costs, donations are critical to the program enhancements that make The York School really shine.

Volunteering

Getting involved as a volunteer is a great way to contribute to your child’s experience and get to know other members of The York School community.

Volunteers are a critical source of support all over the school, lending a hand in a myriad of departments and capacities. Volunteer roles include, but are not limited to; The York School Parents’ Association (YPA) Executive, the York International Parents group (YIP), the Board of Directors and its subcommittees, Class Parent Representatives, library and event volunteers and Parent Ambassadors for the Admission Department.

The Parent Volunteer Handbook for 2018-2019 will be available on our website in late August and outlines the many volunteer opportunities available.

There will an opportunity to sign up to volunteer in early September at the first Coffee Connects event of the year. We hope you will join this dynamic community as we work together in support of our remarkable school and school community. / 13

Online Payment • Through most major banks, The York School has been able to set up payment of tuition online. Please check with your branch to find out whether or not you have this option.

Credit Cards We now accept credit card payments through Plastiq. Using Plastiq, a third-party service provider, you can pay with MasterCard, Visa or American Express: • Go to https://TheYorkSchool.plastiq.com and register with Plastiq to create an account.

• Complete the Student Payment Form and tell Plastiq the amount you want to pay.

Please note that payments may take 3-5 business days to process and that a Plastiq service fee will be applied (2.5% for credit cards). Plastiq is also available as an app on iOS devices - just snap a picture or screenshot of ANY bill, and Plastiq will take care of the rest. / 16

Financial Information Instalment Plan Payment of the 2nd and 3rd tuition instalments can be made by making 10 payments (direct electronic bank debits) commencing May 1, 2018 to February 1, 2019. An additional charge of $140 applies.

Note: If you choose to make monthly fee instalments, please complete the Monthly Instalment Plan form which you would have received with the “Offer of Place” package. If you need a new form, please find them on YorkNet. Statements of Account Statements of account are set up for each student and rendered periodically throughout the year. They reflect not only the fee instalments, but also additional costs for books, cafeteria purchases, YPA membership, yearbook, supplies, cultural and sporting activities, etc. These costs vary widely among students due to different levels of participation in athletic, outdoor, and cultural activities, as well as spending habits. All statements are due upon receipt. Please contact the Business Office if you do not wish your child to have York Shop or cafeteria charging privileges on their student account.

Interest Interest is charged at 1.25% per month (15% per annum) on statement balances remaining unpaid for more than a month. Students with fees unpaid at the end of one term will not be permitted to return for the next term unless suitable payment arrangements have been made.

Responsibility for Full Payment of Fees To plan the operating budget, the school establishes fees and makes contractual commitments in advance of the academic year. Therefore, withdrawals prior to or during the school year are subject to cancellation fees. In special circumstances, the school may pro-rate the fees to the date of withdrawal.

The York School reserves the right to suspend or dismiss any student whose scholarship, behavior or cooperation is, in the opinion of the Head of School, detrimental to the standards of the school. In the event of a student’s suspension, dismissal, withdrawal or absence from the school for any reason, the parents or guardians are liable for payment of the fees.

Financial Information Tax Receipting Information – Child Care Receipt A child care receipt is issued for a student if if the student was 16 or under during the calendar year. Generally, only the spouse or common-law partner with the lower net income can claim child care expenses. If your child attended Aftercare, the fees have been included in the Child Care Receipt amount.

T4A The York School must issue a T4A to a student who has received financial assistance or scholarships. These amounts are considered by the Canada Revenue Agency as income of the recipient in the year received.

T2202A A T2202A will be issued to students in respect of tuition fees paid to The York School in 2018 for Higher Level courses in the school’s International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. No claim can be made for the education and textbook tax credits as The York School is not designated by the province for the purposes of the Canada Student Loans Programme.

Communications The York School offers a number of services online and communicates extensively with parents via YorkNet (our community portal) and other electronic communications.

YorkNet YorkNet is our information portal and it is customized to each member of our community. When you sign in, you will see school calendars, announcements, news, registration forms, directories and more. During the school year, YorkNet will be your bridge to make parent-teacher interview appointments, sign up for athletic programmes and keep track of all the activities and progress of your child.

The parent portal can be accessed via http://www.yorkschool.com by clicking the YORKNET LOGIN link in the top right-hand corner of the site and entering the same username and password you used throughout the admission process.

Please review your family’s information in YorkNet and make any necessary updates. If you wish to alter your privacy settings in the school directory, please contact communications@yorkschool.com. Forget your password? Just click “need help” and enter your email to reset!

School Forms In August, you will receive email notifications to complete online school forms such as medical information, emergency contact information and pick-up and drop-off information. When you receive an email notification, log in to YorkNet where you will see an alert to complete a form. This streamlined process allows you to complete and submit all important school forms online and paper-free. / 19

Communications The Flash The York School publishes a weekly all-school e-newsletter / blog to keep parents up-to-date with communications from key individuals at the school and to inform parents of events and student activities.

Most of the school’s critical information goes through The Flash rather than individual emails. The URL for The Flash is theflash.yorkschool.com. New parents will receive their first Flash e-newsletter link in August. In September, weekly emails with the link will be sent on Friday afternoons or the last day of short weeks.

Student Resource Pages Students from JK through Grade 12 have resource pages accessible through individual buttons on YorkNet and are used by students to access a variety of carefully selected digital resources to complement the curriculum. Parents can also access these resources to stay informed or to help your child while at home.

Calendars 2018/2019 YorkNet has every calendar you might need to plan the school year for your family.

On www.yorkschool.com, you can quickly check for important items, including the All School Calendar and What’s for Lunch.

All dates for 2018-2019 including Winter Holidays and March Break are in the All School Calendar. September is a particularly busy month – so we recommend having a look and marking down important dates such as Curriculum Night.

Once you log in to YorkNet, you will also see “Calendars” at the top of the dashboard. This button gives you the ability to view and filter all calendars, including athletic games and practices. In the top right corner of the calendar page, you will see four buttons to switch to a list view, expand your view, get a URL to feed the school calendar into your own personal calendar and the option to print a calendar.

Uniforms The York School has a standard uniform for students in JK through Grade 5. There is a summer uniform, a winter uniform and athletic wear. The York School also has a standard uniform for students in Grades 6 through 12.

All uniform items must be purchased online through TopMarks: 1. Visit: www.topmarks.ca 2. Go to Online Orders 3. Enter school code: YOR01 4. Create your account 5. Take your own measurements or book a fitting appointment for June 11-13, 2018.

Fittings will take place in the Junior School gym at 1639 Yonge Street from 3:00 7:00 p.m. There will be a date scheduled in August for exchanges.

Food Services Food Services The York School offers Food Services at both the Junior School and Middle & Senior School campuses. As a ‘nut-aware’ facility, all food that is sent to The York School should be free of nuts. If you are sharing food with your class, all food must come from a nut-free facility.

Junior School Aramark is our food service provider at the Junior School and ensures that our students and staff receive nutritious, balanced meals every day. Menus are planned by term and rotate in three-week cycles. Menus are posted on the YorkNet calendar. At the Junior School, there is a lunch programme available which you can register for by term, or pay-as-you go on a daily basis for lunch only. Alternatively, children can bring their own lunch and snacks if preferred.

More information about the Junior School Food Services Programme, including a sign up form, will be sent to you in August.

Middle and Senior School The York Cafe will feature food options provided

by Aramark, our food services provider, as well as an on-site Freshii.

Students are welcome to bring lunches and snacks to school as long as they are nut-free.

Grade 9-12 students can choose to leave the school for lunch, and Middle School grades enjoy periodic “Lunch Out” privileges throughout the year.

Student Wellness Student Wellness Central to The York School’s approach to education is an appreciation for the importance of supporting the whole child. Academic success is intrinsically tied to social and emotional wellness. Through our robust homeroom and advisor programme in all three divisions, students have the opportunity to nurture meaningful relationships with teachers and peers and explicitly address social/emotional learning and character building. Our student wellness team consists of a Junior School Counsellor a Middle School Counsellor and myself, the Director of Student Wellness as well as an all-school Social Worker. We are available to work with individual students, parents and faculty to ensure that our students’ unique psychosocial needs are addressed. Junior School Student Life York Student Class Partner Programme At the Junior School, Class Partners are assigned to all new students, with the exception of JK and SK. A Class Partner is chosen from the grade and class where the new student will be placed in the fall. Part of the responsibility of Class Partners is to contact the new student a minimum of one time over the course of the summer – for a playdate, a conversation, to answer questions about the school, etc. – and the Class Partner will also offer support to the new student throughout the first few weeks of school. The Class Partner Programme ensures that all new students feel welcome.

Junior School Aftercare Early Care There is supervision provided at the Junior School for students from 7:30 AM. There is no charge for this service.

Aftercare Aftercare is offered to students from JK to Grade 5. The daily programme commences after classes end and continues until 6:00 PM. This service provides students with a seamless transition from their school day to a familiar, pleasant and safe environment where they can do their homework, play, relax and have a snack.

Aftercare is open every day that school is in session, including early closing and interview days, but not during professional activity days, holidays or other times such as snow days when there are no classes. For students in Grades 1 to 5 who use Aftercare, a fee of $12 per hour is charged (in 15 minute increments) and is billed to your school account monthly. Aftercare costs are included in the tuition for JK and SK students. Students in Aftercare who attend Co-Curricular or Athletic Programmes after school will be billed only for the time they are in Aftercare.

Aftercare ends at 6:00 PM, Late fees of $25 per quarter hour, or any part thereof, will be charged after this time.

The York School Code of Conduct also applies to Aftercare. The school reserves the right to withdraw your child if The York School Code of Conduct is not upheld, school policies are not followed or there is a continuous disregard for the 6:00 PM pick-up time.

Students in JK to Grade 5 who are still on school premises at 4:00 PM or 15 minutes after the conclusion of their school activities will be placed in Aftercare.

Junior School Co-Curricular Programme Co-Curricular Programme Each term, students in JK to Grade 5 can register for a variety of Co-Curricular Programmes such as choir, chess, individual piano and guitar lessons, art, science and technology programmes and many more.

There is a wide range of programmes offered for each of the fall, winter and spring terms.

The Fall 2018 Co-Curricular Programme Guide will be available online June 11, 2018, prior to online registration on September 6, 2018.

Spaces fill up quickly, so please ensure that you are aware of the registration start date and time. This information will be communicated through The Flash.

Junior School Athletics The Junior School Athletics Programme gives our athletes a variety of positive experiences across a wide variety of sports. Through participation in the Junior School Athletics Programme, our athletes improve their daily fitness and sport specific skills while contributing to the vibrant athletic culture of our school.

In the Junior School, our goal is to help young athletes develop skills, promote participation, and position our competitive teams for success. Students in Grades 3 to 5 have the opportunity to play on competitive teams. Students in JK through Grade 5 can participate in Gladiator Athlete Development Programmes.

Athletes who join any Junior School Athletic Programme will further develop the values of commitment, team spirit and mutual respect through sport.

Junior School Technology Innovation is Our Tradition The Primary Year Programme (PYP) is a world class educational framework that focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both inside and outside the classroom. As the world changes rapidly around our students, it is important that their learning tools reflect and keep pace with that change. At The York School, the Learning, Technology and Innovation Department works with each grade and specialist teacher to find meaningful ways to enrich and deepen student learning. This collaborative approach ensures that we are constantly searching for opportunities and experiences that will enhance the curriculum. This unique partnership has allowed us to curate a developmentally appropriate learning toolkit that enables our teachers and students work at their best. Junior School FAQ Should I accompany my child to their classroom the first day of school?

Typically, students are dropped off at either the front doors off Yonge Street or at the back off of Glen Elm Avenue. At 8:15 AM, students in Grades 1 to 5 enter the school through the back doors. We ask that parents encourage the students to independently walk to their classroom. JK and SK students start their day at 9:00 AM, Where is there parking at the Junior School campus?

There is no available parking at the Junior School campus. There is a 15-minute “drop-off” zone outside of the school during regular school hours. There is other limited parking on Yonge Street. There are also several public paid parking lots within walking distance of the school. Families are encouraged to obey posted parking signs. The York School families are not permitted to park in the Yorkminster Park Baptist Church’s parking lot.

What time does morning care start?

Students can be droped off at school after 7:30 AM. Students engage in supervised activities in the Discovery Zone, on the first floor, until the beginning of the school day. / 34

Notifications to sign-up for athletics will be provided the first week of school. All information is available on YorkNet. My friend said it was difficult to register for co-curricular activities.

What do I need to do?

Co-curriculuar activity descriptions, day, time and cost information will be provided during the first week of school. Instructions to register will also be provided. If you experience any difficulties with registering, our IT department, Junior School Administrative Assistant or Co-curricular Coordinator are happy to help.

What is GADP? The Gladiator Athletic Developemnt Programme is an athletic programme for younger students. Descriptions, dates, times and costs will be provided during the first week of school. Instructions to register will also be provided.

Middle School Student Citizenship York Student Ambassador Programme In the fall of each academic year, York School students apply and are selected to be Student Ambassadors to promote the climate and culture of their school and build meaningful relationships with new students and families. As part of the York Student Ambassador Programme, current students may be called upon as hosts, tour guides, event speakers or ushers/greeters at school events. Hosts connect with applicants who come for Taste of York events so they can be introduced to the student experience at The York School. Tour guides show our facilities to prospective families and describe their experience at The York School in terms of the IB programme, co-curricular and leadership opportunities and school climate/community. Event speakers are responsible for delivering a speech about their York School experience to prospective and/or current families. Middle School Challenge Week & Field Trips Every year during the first week of May, The York School runs a unique experiential programme called Challenge Week. Students from Grades 6 to 10 take part in week-long curriculum-driven excursions throughout Canada and North America. Challenge Week embodies our commitment to engage in experiential learning. Students are asked to extend themselves beyond their comfort zone to gain the skills and confidence to learn through experience. Challenge Week is one of the most important platforms in which the Learner Profile of the Middle Years Programme is developed through experience. Becoming risk-takers, inquirers, communicators and openminded, caring citizens are concrete outcomes that support the International Baccalaureate philosophy. Challenge Week is a mandatory part of the Middle School curriculum. Grade-specific excursions are linked directly to a specific course or area of study. Fees associated with Challenge Week are in addition to tuition and will be charged to the student’s account.

In September, each grade level travels to YMCA Wanakita in Haliburton for a two-night Fall Outdoor Education Excursion to​​establish​​community,​​set​​norms​​ for​ ​socialization, ​​and​ ​initiate​ ​positive​ ​energy​ ​to​ ​start​ ​the​ ​year. Middle School Counselling & Course Selection Middle School Counselling Upon entering the Middle School, students face a range of new challenges.

These challenges include academic and pyscho-social adjustments. The first line of support to these challenges is the homeroom teacher. All students in Grades 6 to 8 take English, Humanities, Math, Science, French, PE, Art, Design, Performing Arts/Music. In Grades 7 and 8, students have the opportunity to take an elective course. Students choose one of either Vocal, Drama, Spanish or Mandarin.

Elective courses are designed to expand learning interests and provide an opportunity to explore a new subject area. Elective courses are comprised of 5 single classes per 10-day cycle. Please speak with your child to help them decide on an elective that best reflects their interests.

Middle School Learning Resources Middle School Learning Resource and Strategy Support We recognize that the Middle School years are a tremendous time of growth and this growth may require new skills and approaches.

Our Learning Resource Strategist, Jennifer Robertson supports students who may need additional support beyond their classroom teacher. She supports the faculty by communicating a student-learning plan as prescribed by a pyscho-educational assessment, and guides faculty towards best teaching practices as they pertain to supporting learning needs.

Middle School FAQ

How does the lunch in the cafeteria work?

Lunch in the cafeteria is purchased from an a la carte menu. Parents are encouraged to give direction and parameters to students in their selection and purchase of food. Menu prices are posted on YorkNet. Click here to see this year’s selection of foods and prices for 2017/2018. There is a hot lunch selection every day, as well as a Freshii kiosk.

Typically, 50% of students make regular lunch purchases and the other 50% bring lunch from home.

Is there a break during the school day?

There is an informal nutrition break between 9:45 - 10: 30 AM. A snack trolley is brought up from the cafeteria to make purchases if students have forgotten to pack a snack from home. Again, parents should provide parameters to student spending.

Is there before and after school care?

There is no before or after school care. However, students can arrive to school at 8:00 AM, and students are encouraged to sign up for after school activities (clubs, athletics) that typically run from 3:45 - 5:00 PM.

Students have to “try-out� for a team. Skill along with the ability to commit to practices and games are considered for player selection. Given that player experience and skill levels vary, some teams will be in the league while others will play exhibition. The programme’s competitive nature, along with stringent qualifying criteria, may limit the number of players and may mean some players will be placed on a development team. Middle School Technology & Textbooks Learning Anywhere, Anytime - Blackboard Students in the Middle School are supported by the Blackboard Learning Management System.

This online learning portal provides each student with personalized access to unit materials, weekly assignments, research tools and daily course announcements. Blackboard is updated daily by all faculty and is the first place to check should a student want to catch up following an absence or look ahead.

Blackboard can be accessed directly via yorkschool. blackboard.com or in YorkNet. At the beginning of each academic year parents are given “observer” role accounts so that they can also view course materials, homework and assignment due dates. Sign-in information for Blackboard is sent to parents in the summer but as a general rule the username is: firstname+lastname (“johnsmith”) and the password is: the first 5 digits of your school account number. Learning with Laptops - Middle School Laptop Programme For the past 17 years, The York School has stood as a leader in innovative and meaningful technology integration across the curriculum. Our teachers are continuously searching for ways to enrich their subject areas with engaging tools and learning experiences. To that end, The York School invests heavily in teacher professional development and classroom support staff. Led by the Department of Learning, Innovation and Technology, The York School ensures that its faculty and students have the best tools to help them realize their academic potential.

Students entering Grade 6 will be provided with a school owned Chromebook to be used in all their classes. These computers will be given to students by their homeroom teacher near the end of September. Students entering Grades 7 and 8 will officially enter our student-owned laptop programme. Families are given the choice to either purchase a MAC laptop (with minimum specifications) or a school selected Lenovo PC model. Grade 8 students will receive their laptop at the New Student Laptop Orientation on from 1:00 - 3:00 PM on Thursday, August 30th, 2018 at 1320 Yonge Street where they will be guided through a software and student learning orientation.

All students receive The York School software toolkit to be used throughout the academic year. Should students experience computer problems, we facilitate all hardware repairs 12 months of the year and provide daily on-demand software support via our in house IT support Help Desk. Textbooks For Grades 6 through 12, textbooks are purchased online through the Canadian School Book Exchange. You can place your textbook order online by logging into YorkNet and clicking on the “Order Textbooks” icon. Follow the information appropriate to your child’s grade and textbook requirements. Used textbooks are also available through the website on a first-come, first-served basis. The online ordering process will be available in late June. Fees are associated with Interscholastic Team sports and are charged to student accounts.

Recreational Programmes Each term, we offer recreational programmes to provide students with a variety of positive sport experiences. Programmes such as yoga, fitness boot camp and strength and conditioning are available. Registration is on a term-by-term basis. Fees for these programmes vary and will be posted with the registration information at the start of each term. Fees are charged to student accounts.

Senior School Academic & University Counselling Student Wellness Every Senior Student is assigned a teacher advisor who will track their academic progress and will be available as a consistent support throughout their Senior School years. Your child’s advisor will be in touch prior to the beginning of the school year. Please use your child’s advisor as a first line contact if you have information to share or questions to ask.

Academic & University Counselling Your child will also have a dedicated university and academic planning counsellor throughout their Senior School. All students are supported with individualized academic course selection providing a complete, academic and university counselling and placement plan.

Senior School Academic & University Counselling Course Selection Participation in the final two years of the Middle Years Programme and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme requires that students include in their courses: a second language, mathematics, an experimental science, a social science, an arts course and English. This ensures that each student will meet Ontario requirements for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma and have the appropriate configuration of Grade 12 credits for university entrance.

Grade 9 students have one elective option and Grade 10 students have three elective options. Please connect with David Hanna, Director of University Counselling, as soon as possible to discuss course selections.

Naviance Family Connection Naviance is a web based application used to guide and monitor a student’s Senior School academic planning. Naviance is also used to help each student prepare for postsecondary education and beyond. It includes an ACT test preparation tool, scholarship search tools, post secondary research tools, resume building information and career tools. It is available to our Senior School students and is accessible through a link on YorkNet’s parent and student portal.

During the school year, parents can sign in at any time to view the information.

When a new student’s account is set up, an email will be sent to the student and the parent from our University Counselling Department. Instructions will follow with initial setup details. Senior School Technology Learning Anywhere, Anytime Students in the Senior School are supported by the Blackboard Learning Management System. This online learning portal provides each student with personalized access to unit materials, weekly assignments, research tools and daily course announcements. Blackboard is updated daily by all faculty and is the first place to check should a student want to catch up following an absence or look ahead. Blackboard can be accessed directly via yorkschool.blackboard.com or in YorkNet. At the beginning of each academic year parents are given “observer” role accounts so that they can also view course materials, homework and assignment due dates. Sign-in information for Blackboard is sent to parents in the summer but as a general rule the username is: firstname+lastname (“johnsmith”) and the password is: the first 5 digits of your school accounting number. Learning with Laptops - Senior School Laptop Programme For the past 17 years, The York School has stood as a leader in innovative technology integration across the curriculum. Our teachers are continuously searching for ways to enrich their subject areas with engaging tools and learning experiences. To that end, The York School invests heavily in teacher professional development and classroom support staff. Led by the Department of Learning, Innovation and Technology, The York School ensures that its faculty and students have the best tools to help them realize their academic potential.

Students entering Grades 9 to 12 will officially enter our student owned laptop programme. Families are given the choice to either purchase a MAC laptop (with minimum specifications) or the school selected Lenovo PC. Those choosing the PC option can easily order their laptop through our school reseller using the link on our Senior School Technology Page: https://www.yorkschool.com/page/ senior-school/technology/senior-school-laptop-programme Those choosing the MAC may purchase it on their own or through our reseller as well. All laptops must be ordered or brought to our IT Department by Monday, July 16, 2018 to give us enough time to get them ready for the fall start. All new Senior School students are asked to attend the New Student Laptop Orientation event from 1:00 - 3:00 PM on August 30th, 2018 at 1320 Yonge Street where they will be guided through a software and student learning orientation. / 56

Senior School Technology & Textbooks All Senior School laptops are prepared with The York School software toolkit to be used throughout the academic year. Should students experience computer problems, we facilitates\ all hardware repairs 12 months of the year and provide daily on-demand software support via our in house IT Help Desk. Textbooks For Grades 6 through 12, textbooks are purchased online through the Canadian School Book Exchange. You can place your textbook order online by logging into YorkNet and clicking on the “Order Textbooks” icon. Follow the information appropriate to your child’s grade and textbook requirements. Used textbooks are also available through the website on a first-come, first-served basis. The online ordering process will be available in late June. Orders must be placed by July 30, 2017 to ensure delivery for the start of classes in September.
