JANUARY IN REVIEW
our community. The Chamber of Commerce's Grand Opening launched us into a month of over 1,000 yoga practices in our studio with over half of our members participating in the January Challenge. The addition of Restorative Yoga by Melissa Rusk and David Vale's Inversion Workshops added some spice to our Power Yoga practice.

INVERSIONS WORKSHOP
Yath Bhaavo Tath Bhavati As we believe, so happens
David Vale led two amazing inversion workshops. The group was led through a series of progressions to help them find balance, work on weaknesses, and slowly find their way to strong headstands and handstands.
Inversions use every bit of learning from our yoga practice: breath, calm, body awareness, alignment, feeling but more so the mental practice; belief in what’s possible, setting aside any preconceived expectations, letting go of judgement and finding humility, accepting what is (you will fall)
We created the condiitions for people to succeed through failure. It was amazing for me to see everyone encouraging everybody regardless of whether people fell or not.
Being able to do headstands or handstands are not required to be a yogi. They are just fun and can teach us a lot about ourselves and our practice.

Restorative yoga helps us cultivate the

skill of conscious relaxation. This powerful practice uses long-held, supported resting poses and deliberate breath work to create the conditions for us to cultivate the skill of conscious relaxation and most importantly to release unnecessary habitual tension in the body and mind.
LOOKING AHEAD
FEBRUARY FRIENDS In February our intention is connection. We are growing our connections through the February Friends guest passes for all members. Members, share the code "februaryfriends" with two different people and join them for a class this month.
YOGA FOR KIDS The same benefits you experience from yoga are accessible to your kids, too. We know that when kids practice breath, movement, and relaxation their brains and bodies are healthier and happier. Our first Yoga for Kids Workshop is Sunday, February 27, 2022.
RESTORATIVE YOGA WORKSHOP Join YogiJanie for a Restorative Yoga & Reflection Workshop on February 27 at 10:00am. In addition to the powerful practice of restorative yoga that uses long-held, resting poses and deliberate breathwork, this workshop will feature meditation and reflective journaling.
Rhendy was one of our very first members, signing up the weekend we
RHENDY
BRADSHAW MEMBER OF THE MONTH
announced we were opening. Without having seen the space, she bought a one year membership. Since then, she's been filling the Yoga Lab with laughter and kindness. Rhendy holds her 200hour Yoga Teacher Certification and is currently taking her Baptiste Level I certification. Her motivation behind her training is to enhance her practice.
YOGA "My favorite yoga pose Is half pigeon. There's just something about the opening sequence in Journey Into Power, coming in to rest after an active practice." I still remember my first experience at the Yoga Lab. I walked In to a super welcoming, cozy vibe. The aesthetic of the space set the stage for feeling relaxed and open."
REALTOR RHENDY "I discovered the real estate process while I was staging houses, and found something important, relationships. If you have a good relationship, your clients feel taken care of and confident In the largest purchase of their life. Community at the Yoga Lab has been amazing. When you are a part of a community that is built In the Lab and get to see that community come out into the real world and build on that community, it becomes real. It doesn't just live at the Yoga Lab "
Be A
Yes
BAPTISTE METHODOLOGY SPOTLIGHT
The First Theme of the Baptiste Methodology is a clear call to action. As a way to show up to your life, to every moment, to every situation, being a yes is not an act of disregard of struggle or an attempt at toxic positivity. Instead, being a yes is the act of knowing and acting in each moment in choice. Inherently, being a yes is the opposite of being a no. A "yes" becomes clear when you know what you are a "no" for. We'll use the Yoga Lab as an example. In this community, we are a "no" for low standards, remission of responsibility, and dishonesty (in heart and in action). Therefore, we are a yes for high standards, personal responsibility, and integrity. Being a yes for those things means you should see evidence in each and every experience at the Lab. In the coffee we serve, the classes we teach, and the community we build, we are a yes for the creation, not the concept, of high standards, personal responsibility, and integrity.
And if you're still growing in areas of your life,
use your mat as a laborotory to experiment, to get curious, and to practice being a yes on and off your mat.
The same is true for our individual lives. When we know what we don't stand for, we get clear about what we do stand for. We are clear about we are a yes for, in creation, not in concept. Take 5 minutes today and write down what you are a yes for. Take 5 minutes tomorrow to take an audit of your life. If you are truly a yes for the things you listed,
you should see evidence of that in your life.

PARTNER OF THE MONTH
With a background in design, fine arts, and social media, Micah is equipped to create designs that enhance any business’s public image. She believes in the power of authenticity and knows that the best way to reach a target audience is to tell a compelling story. Micah values the process of getting to know her clients in order to best meet their business needs. The result? Designs that are unapologetic and unique to the owners behind them.
"It is always fun to create a mural, no matter what the subject is. However, there is something uniquely special about working with clients who desire to have deeper meaning and metaphors layered within their design. After first meeting with Adam and Abby, I knew this project was going to be a special one. I was fairly new to the yoga world but dove into researching all I could. It was important to me that the final product was one reflecting the culture of the Yoga Lab while also being a creative teaching tool."
"Murals take time. Pre-painting, you
THE
MURAL
have to design countless versions until you find the perfect one. Even once you start painting, it takes days to execute. Over that time I got to see first hand the community that takes place in the studio. I heard people’s stories, drank lots of coffee, and welcomed others to be part of the mural process with me."
"The result was not only a mural that beautifully represented the Yoga Lab, but I myself changed during the process."

A NOTE FROM ABBY
Owning a yoga studio has turned out to be much more than I ever imagined; in really good ways and really hard ways. I'm learning each day how to better lead and follow. One thing I've learned about myself in the past five months is that it's hard for me to rest. I feel a need to do more all of the time. I have a nagging "not enoughness," that has proven time and time again to be a lie. In January, I realized that if I did not slow down, this Yoga Lab experiment would be short lived. So this month, I'm working on intentional rest. If you don't see me at the studio when you come for class, I hope you'll trust that I'm restoring myself so when you do see me, I can be present with you on and off your yoga mat. This community is an incredible blessing in my life and I am really looking forward to spending time with you this month.
Be well, Abby
