Abstract: Multiple variables like socio-economic discrimination including gender, caste, levels of parental education, location etc may contribute to self concept and academic achievements of students. In the present study the researcher attempts to know whether self concept of students differ due to caste(ST, ST and general) factor and whether self concept and academic achievement of these students related with each other. The researcher used descriptive survey method for the study and a sample of 630 students from class ix were selected from 21 schools, from state of odisha, India. The researcher chooses random sampling (lottery) method to select the sample.
