Dear Fellow Ranchers and Farmers, We appreciate your being here and your interest in our cattle. At Deer Creek Cattle Company we are trying to provide top quality replacement heifers to the local commercial cattleman that will earn a profit and remain in the herd a long, long time. When you are assessing the true value of an employee, chances are you’re going to look beyond the surface. Oh sure, a neat appearance might catch your eye at first, but in a short amount of time you will expect more than a well pressed suit. You’ll need a dedicated, adaptable, dependable worker with integrity who’s willing to stick with you and pull their weight. Well, my cattle friends, you’re not buying heifers to just look pretty in the pasture. I think you’ll agree with me that you want them to go to work! She needs to have integrity from the start. She needs to be adaptable to your environment. And she needs to do her job for years to come. In other words, she has to be efficient. All of the offering today was developed using high industry standards for health and development protocol which include: a pre-breeding evaluation, vaccination, pregnancy examination, and sire qualification. DC3 Elite females are additionally set apart with higher standards for their genetic and fertility potential. There is a lot of opportunity in the beef business today, but building alliances with trusted partners is the key to success. Sale Process All the heifers will be sold in groups of five or less. They will be organized, sorted, and sold by due date, phenotype, and AI or natural service. The winning bidder of a group will have the option to buy the remaining group(s) of the same type. Example: There are 13 black, SimAngus, AI bred heifers due Feb. 2019. In this case, the heifers would be sorted in two groups of 5 each and one group of 3. The winning bidder of the first group of 5 will have the option to purchase the 2nd and 3rd groups at the same price. If the winning bidder chooses to only buy the first group, then bidding will start over with the 2nd group and that buyer will have the option to purchase the remaining 3 at the same price.

Criteria
All of the heifers available for sale have been purchased. Our goal is to offer high quality commercial replacement heifers to local cattlemen. When purchasing heifers we focus on the following:

Above and beyond the high standards set for all DC3 heifers, only the most fertile and maternal claim “Elite” fame.
She Has to be a Crossbred All Elite eligible heifers come from reputable herds with known genetics and are themselves crossbred to maximize the benefits of heterosis and maternal characteristics.
She Has to be Ready All Elite heifers are examined for adequate pelvic area to ensure the potential for calving ease. They are tract scored for reproductive maturity and deemed ready to breed.
She Has to breed Early Elite heifers are born as a result of AI or are born in the first 30 days of their mother’s calving period. They either settle AI or during the first cycle when pasture exposed to bulls, increasing the odds that they will repeatedly calve early while in the herd. “Heifers born early in the calving season usually reach puberty and begin to cycle earlier than heifers born later in the calving season. Furthermore, heifers that become pregnant early in the breeding season and calve in the first one third of the calving season usually have much greater lifetime production compared to heifers that calve later in the season. So, the most important efficiency to emphasize for cow/calf producers... is reproductive efficiency.”

60 Red SimAngus Heifers
These heifers originated from a large reputation herd with Pelton genetics. We have offered heifers from this producer for seven consecutive years. All are solid red and are ¾ Red Angus and ¼ Red Simmental. The heifers are very docile and will be approximately two years old when they calve. Over 63% are AI bred to a low-birth-weight ABS Red Angus sire named Andras Fusion (Reg #1506931). This bull is well known in the breed for calving ease and also has strong growth, marbling and maternal traits. He is wide bodied, deep ribbed and heavy muscled. The AI bred heifers were pregnancy tested at 45 days bred and are due to calve on February 7, 2019. The pasture bred heifers are bred to low-birth-weight bulls with Red Hill Farm and Emerald Earth Cattle Co. genetics. All were bred on the first cycle back after having been exposed to artificial (AI) breeding and are due to calve in late February, 2019.

This was our favorite crossbred red-hided cow while in the cow/calf business. South Devon cattle deliver necessary traits for success; they are feed efficient, fertile and maternal, with superior carcass traits. They’re well-known for longevity and 100’s of years of docility are bred right into their genetics. They are hard to find. We procured these heifers from a large western reputation herd and are proud to make this unique offering available. They adapted to our environment (fescue) and came through with flying colors after experiencing one of the worst droughts and hottest summers in recent memory. Most are ¾ South Devon and ¼ Red Angus. They will be approximately two years old when they calve. Exceptional fertility; over 81% are AI bred to a low-birth-weight ABS Red Angus sire named Andras Fusion (Reg #1506931). Deer Creek Cattle Co., LLC 2019 Elite Spring Bred Heifer
Vaccination Protocol: A comprehensive vaccination program has been administered under the advice and guidance of the Deer Creek Cattle Company veterinarian. - All heifers have been Calfhood vaccinated against Brucellosis (Bangs).
- All heifers have been vaccinated and boostered for IBR, BVD, PI 3, BRSV, Leptospirosis (5way), Vibriosis, and 7-Way Clostridia (Blackleg).
- To protect against pregnancy loss, 60 days prior to breeding all heifers were vaccinated against Leptospirosis (5-way) and Vibriosis. A booster vaccination was given 30 days prior to breeding.
- All heifers have been treated multiple times for external and internal parasites. - All heifers have been tested and guaranteed negative for BVD-PI. Pre-breeding Evaluation:
- All heifers have been examined for adequate pelvic area and deemed to be able to calve easily.
- All heifers have been tract scored for reproductive maturity and deemed ready to breed. Pregnancy Evaluation: - All heifers were pregnancy tested at 45 or 90 days post-breeding to distinguish between those AI and those pasture bred
- A confirmation pregnancy examination will be performed within 30 days of sale. Another booster vaccination against Leptospirosis will also be administered. Consequently, all heifers will be guaranteed bred for 30 days after the sale.
Nutrition: - Most heifers were born in fescue country and adapted to fescue in early grazing. - All heifers have been developed on a forage-based, high-fiber, palatable diet.
- All heifers have been grazing fescue since they were bred and supplemented with bi- products as necessary based on pasture conditions.
Age:
- All heifers were born in January, February, and March 2014; they were bred at approximately 15 months of age and will calve at approximately 24 months of age.
Docility: An important and necessary consideration. - All heifers were selected based on disposition.
- Throughout the development process, any heifer showing signs of nervousness, attitude, or aggression was culled from the group - The heifers are handled with minimum stress and interact with humans during feeding in order to further develop docility. 10
