National Pledges to Build a 4-Lane Expressway from Belfast to Pegasus Including the Woodend Bypass The National party have promised to build the Belfast to Pegasus four-lane motorway, including the Woodend Bypass if elected in September. Nationals’ Transport Spokesperson Chris Bishop and Matt Doocey met with the Make SH! Safer Committee at Owen Stalker Park last Friday and made the announcement. Woodend Community Association president Mark Paterson, who is also a Woodend-Sefton board member and chairman of the Make State Highway 1 Safer Committee,

said that the commitment was a great result for the community. “We just hope now that the National Party will follow up on their promise to build the bypass, if they become government, and if they don’t win the election they will continue pushing the next government to go ahead with the project.” Mr Bishop said a National government would want to start construction on (Cont’d on Page 8)
