Calling all artists Plans for the inaugural Pegasus Bay Art Show to be held at Pegasus Bay School are well under way and the organisers are now ready to start receiving applications from artists who would like to be part of this exciting event. It is a collaborative event run jointly between the Pegasus Bay School PTA and Waikuku Artists Incorporated (WAI) and will be held on Friday 7 and Saturday 8 October 2016. The art show is being run as a fundraiser for the school and promises to be a fantastic event for the whole community. It is anticipated up to 100 Artists will exhibit, and that the majority of these will be from the Waimakariri, Hurunui, Christchurch and Selwyn Districts, however, unlike some other shows, exhibiting artists do not need to reside locally. Along with commission from all sales at the Art Show going directly to the school, leading into the event, artists from within the WAI group will provide workshop

opportunities to children at Pegasus Bay School. The public can expect an exciting variety of artworks on display as exhibitor categories include painting, drawing, print, mixed medium, collage, photography, sculpture, ceramics, glass, jewellery, woodwork, metalwork, textiles, natural fibre and craftwork. WAI is thrilled to have Raymond Herber from The Quarry as the guest artist, who is known for combining traditional and contemporary methods with his medium of choice, steel. Quilliam Collister will be doing a ‘Live Painting’ on the opening night, which will then be auctioned. Artists interested in learning more about this art show are encouraged to visit the WAI website, waikukuartists.co.nz where application forms and guidelines can be found in the events section. There is also a Facebook page set up “Pegasus Bay Art Show” which will keep everyone updated on the exciting event.
