POINT A MESSAGE FROM

DON MEADOR PASTOR TO SENIOR ADULTS

PERSPECTIVES TAILGATE PARTY The SpiritWind Band

The Perspectives Sunday School Class recently held its fall class social. The theme was football/tailgating and over eighty class members attended. Live gospel music was provided by The SpiritWind Band led by David McKenery, the church’s former organist. In keeping with the football theme, class members wore their favorite jerseys and sang their college fight songs. Everyone enjoyed a team building program where groups matched schools with the names of their football teams. Join us Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. in Wesley Hall.

Mary Kerr is one of our resident poets. She is very talented with her pen. I think this little poem is fitting for the season of thanksgiving. After all, Thanksgiving is a time for giving thanks. And a wonderful way to “give thanks” is to “give” to others out of gratitude for what God has given us. So, if you can, bring some food to Prime Timers, or leave it by your car during church on the third Sunday for the Boy Scouts to collect. You will be blessed because you are a blessing for others. Happy Thanksgiving! Your friend,

PEGGY’S BOOK CLUB

Peggy’s Book Club met on Tuesday, September 20 to discuss the book, Come to the Garden, by The Woodlands UMC member Jennifer Wilder Morgan. Jennifer was kind enough to attend the meeting to share in the discussion of her book. The last 2016 meeting of Peggy’s Book Club will be on November 16 when the group will discuss, The Nightingale, by Kristen Hannah.

There are people out there Not as lucky as we, And a Thanksgiving dinner They’re not going to see ‘Less somebody helps them And that could be us So here’s how to do it With so little fuss When you’re out buying groceries And done at the store, Just add to your basket A little bit more. Then when you get home Leave those more in the car ‘Cause if you’re like me, You’ll forget where they are. Then November for Prime Time You’ll bring what you got, Or go back to your car If you find you forgot. It makes you feel good When you show that you care And someone will thank you, That someone out there.

— Mary Kerr
