Church family,
As we launch the Beyond capital campaign, I am reminded of all the ways we’ve seen and heard of God’s faithfulness to our church over the past 44 years. Thank you for your presence, your prayers and your heart for the mission of The Woodlands Methodist Church.
Through this campaign launch, we’ve shared a vision that goes beyond where we’ve been and calls us to step into something even greater — a future of deeper impact and broader reach for the kingdom of God.
The work God is calling us to in this next season will require all of us — our faith, our resources and, most importantly, our trust that God is at work in ways we cannot yet fully see. This is not a journey we can walk alone. It will take the full strength of our church community, united in purpose, with every person playing a vital part.
As you read through this campaign summary, I want to encourage you to prayerfully consider how God is inviting you to be a part of this mission.
Several opportunities for campaign next steps will be available in the coming months. I'd like to invite you to pray for the campaign, save the date for upcoming important dates, and plan to make your commitment. Further details about each of these next steps can be found in the last pages of this guide.
Again, hear me say, thank you for your commitment, your generosity and your willingness to both wade into the water and walk this road together. I am confident that, through God’s grace, we will go further than we can imagine.
To God be the glory,
Rev. Mark Sorensen Senior Pastor
From its inception, the primary focus of the Beyond capital campaign has been to thoughtfully connect every piece of the campaign back to one foundational command:
“...TO
This guiding principle is reflected in every aspect of the campaign, from the design of our logo — with its iconic horizon line symbolizing the path to a bright new future — to the plans and projects we are presenting to our congregation.
Everything related to Beyond is designed to maximize our church’s efforts to multiply ourselves and to go further than we could ever reach or imagine. The Beyond campaign will not only establish a foothold for ministry in new communities and in a new language, but also engage an entirely new generation and prepare the way for the future of The Woodlands Methodist Church.

“Go and be disciples of all nations” are the words Jesus spoke before His final ascent into heaven. It is His parting commandment to us — to spread His gospel across the world to all people. Each of us has been given the opportunity, with gifts empowered through the Holy Spirit, to make an impact in a world that needs to know the name of Jesus. God has bestowed these gifts on you with a choice — to be idle and at ease or to carry out His ministry. Will you accept your calling?
“BUT YOU WILL RECEIVE POWER WHEN THE HOLY SPIRIT COMES ON YOU; AND YOU WILL BE MY WITNESSES IN JERUSALEM, AND IN ALL JUDEA AND SAMARIA, AND TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH.”
ACTS 1:8 (NIV)
We are a church of action. From humble beginnings in a community center in The Woodlands, Texas, in 1978, The Woodlands Methodist Church has been integral to bringing the gospel of Jesus to local families. In line with our mission to reach, disciple and help others, we expanded our reach globally, building schools and churches to share and teach God’s Word. Every great impact, result and success has come from a courageous idea and a belief in what could be. It is our journey of faith.
The journey is not passive; it is active and intentional. It means embracing our roles as disciples, sharing the message of Christ, and doing the work that transforms lives. As a church, we are mobilizing to “Go” where God leads, with boldness and a spirit of purpose.
These are not just organizational achievements — they are kingdom-building acts that demonstrate a willingness to serve, reach and love others. In this next defining moment in the history of our church, we trust God’s guidance and provision, believing that each step of faith will create space for transformation and community in ways that reflect His heart for all people.

Going further means being committed. It’s about extending our efforts to places we haven’t yet imagined. It’s about the lasting impact of our actions today and the legacy we leave for future generations. Going further is what Jesus was talking about in Acts 1:8.
Going further is a commitment to continue striving for more, knowing that our work in God’s name has eternal significance. With every step, we move closer to the vision of a world reached, discipled and cared for through the love of Christ.
Going further is the path The Woodlands Methodist Church is called to follow. We invite you to learn more about what that looks like as we move toward the future God has planned for us.
We’ve come a long way, But there is more to
do!
The Woodlands Campus of The Woodlands Methodist Church has been a pillar of faith and family for the greater community of The Woodlands since its groundbreaking in the year 2000. Continued growth in worship attendance and weekly ministry activity has brought several periods of expansion, yet God continues to bless the church with new opportunities for growth.
Equipping the Loft Building for the work God has placed before us is an incredible opportunity to be faithful. This space is primarily home to our Loft worship community and NextGen Ministries. Through the Beyond campaign, we plan to refresh this space with updates to the entrance and common areas, as well as the Loft worship space and kids' and students' spaces.
Over the past year, The Woodlands Campus has experienced incredible and transformative ministry in its Spanish-speaking congregation. As this ministry continues to expand with weekly attendance averaging 240, a permanent home has been selected in the Loft Building. Through renovations established in the Beyond campaign, a dedicated worship center for Spanish Worship will be created adjacent to the Loft Worship Center. Additionally, a greatly enlarged and shared NextGen Kids space will serve English- and Spanish-speaking families during weekend worship.
The NextGen Students area will be renovated to include both indoor and outdoor spaces, featuring a redesigned communal commons and outdoor gathering area that will host worship events and group activities throughout the week. Our hope is that this will be a place where students want to gather regularly — not just on Sundays.
The Woodlands Methodist School (TWMS), known for its premier Christian education, is a recognized institution in the community for its high-quality teaching and integration of faith in the classroom. Beyond campaign funding will focus on providing permanent space and enhanced learning facilities for fifth- through eighth-grade students.

Our journey at The Church at Woodforest (CAW) began with a call to plant a church in a school, much like our current mission with The Church at Montgomery. From those humble beginnings, and with tremendous generosity from our church family, CAW has grown into something beyond what we had previously imagined or hoped to achieve. Now, because of our faithfulness to that initial call, we are once again being called to grow. The need is clear: We are full and at capacity. With Easter and Christmas services spilling outside and only four rooms available for discipleship and ministry, Sunday school classes and small groups are often left searching for space. Despite these limitations, the passion for worship and discipleship at Woodforest remains strong, driving growth to an average weekly attendance of 486.
This Phase 2 Building Expansion is our answer to God’s call to continue expanding His kingdom in Woodforest.
By adding 250 seats to our main worship space, we will be able to accommodate 650 people in worship. With nine new rooms dedicated to discipleship, youth and learning, we are preparing to welcome more people into a deeper relationship with Christ. These new spaces will provide much-needed areas for community building, spiritual growth and ministry development, ensuring no one is turned away or confined to limited spaces.
Our congregation’s commitment to walking in faith has brought us this far, and through this expansion, we aim to create more opportunities for everyone to encounter God, grow in their faith, and go further in their mission to reach others.

As Montgomery continues to grow, so does our calling to serve this vibrant and expanding community. We believe God is leading us to establish a permanent church home on our recently purchased land — 14 acres in the heart of Montgomery — to lay a foundation of faith that will serve generations to come. The new Phase 1 building for The Church at Montgomery is more than just a physical structure: It symbolizes our commitment to “Go Further” in our mission to Reach People for Jesus, Disciple Them in Faith, and Help Those in Need. This dedicated space will allow us to create a spiritual home where people can encounter God, grow in their faith, and build lasting relationships.
When God calls us, He calls us to act. The command to “Go” is central to our faith and a reflection of our commitment to follow where He leads. Building this church is our response to that call — a tangible step to meet the spiritual needs of the Montgomery community. A group averaging 125 worshippers is currently meeting weekly in a rented space at Oak Hills Jr. High. Our congregation needs a permanent facility to expand our reach and impact. Plans for a permanent building for The Church at Montgomery include a 400-seat worship space and classrooms for study and small group gatherings. This new building will provide a stable base for worship, discipleship, youth gatherings and community outreach. We invite you to join us in this journey of faith, to pray for the lost in Montgomery, and to support the Beyond campaign, enabling us to create a lasting spiritual legacy in this growing community.
We are excited to announce the inclusion of Covenant Church at Creekside in the Beyond campaign. This addition reflects our commitment to expanding ministry reach and creating vibrant spaces for worship, discipleship and community. Serving both Englishand Spanish-speaking congregations, Covenant Church at Creekside represents another step forward in our mission to connect more people with God’s love and grace, ensuring our church continues to grow and thrive across all corners of our community.
Creekside’s integration into Beyond is more than an investment in infrastructure — it’s a testament to our commitment to serve as witnesses of Christ’s light and love to all, embracing the richness of a bilingual and multicultural congregation.
Each step taken in the Beyond campaign brings us closer to the vision of a thriving, deeply connected church community extending its reach far beyond what we can imagine. Through diverse multilingual campuses and worshipping communities, we aspire to create welcoming, Christcentered spaces that provide comfort, strength and hope to all who enter.
As we look to the continued growth of The Woodlands Methodist Church, we are allocating resources to ensure every campus is equipped to serve our congregation and fulfill God’s calling. Through the Beyond campaign, we are making intentional capital investments that offer immediate improvements while leaving a legacy of faith for future generations.
To better accommodate our growing ministries and outreach efforts, we are planning future parking expansions to ensure easy access for all members and visitors, allowing us to maximize our worship venue space. These improvements will include additional parking spaces and the exploration of an additional driveway for improved campus access.
Investments in our outdoor spaces will create more intentional areas to accommodate our growing congregation. These improvements include a new and expanded children’s playground with a shade structure for Preschool and NextGen Kids ministries, as well as an enhanced, shaded common area for large gatherings and discipleship programs that will serve both our English and Spanish communities.
Approximately $400,000 has been allocated for these improvements, representing a tangible commitment to support the immediate and long-term needs of the campus. This level of investment reflects the grace and provision of God guiding us toward a stronger future as we collectively work in pursuit of His mission. Additionally, as part of this capital campaign, we remain committed to diligently reducing the debt incurred from our existing building at Creekside. This investment will help us stay focused on paying down that debt while also enabling much-needed improvements to our campus.
The heartbeat of The Woodlands Methodist Church is missions — reaching people for Jesus, discipling them in faith, and helping those in need, locally and globally. Through the Beyond campaign, we’re expanding our mission with three impactful initiatives, strengthening our partnerships and transforming lives.
Since 2014, we’ve partnered with Montgomery County Food Bank to fight hunger. They distribute food through 80+ local pantries, serving children, senior adults and families. Our Commitment: Funding their facility expansion to serve 5,000 more families per month and provide 1 million additional meals annually. Just $1 provides four meals, supporting our community while spreading the gospel.
God is opening doors for a church-planting movement across Latin America.
Our Commitment: Equipping Wesleyan pastors with training, resources and ongoing support to launch new, vibrant churches that share the gospel, creating a once-in-a-generation opportunity to grow faith-filled communities.
Since 2015, we’ve partnered with Zoe Empowers to help vulnerable youth escape poverty. Their three-year programs teach skills and self-reliance within supportive communities.
Our Commitment: Expanding their efforts into Eswatini, a nation with high HIV/AIDS rates and youth unemployment, to establish groups that bring stability, hope and the love of Christ to hundreds of children.
With a $1 million commitment across these initiatives, we’re answering God’s call to go beyond ourselves. Your gifts, prayers and support enable us to create lasting change — feeding families, planting churches and empowering youth. Thank you for joining us in answering this sacred call to transform lives and bring Christ’s love to the world.

We want to continue to commit this vision and calling to the Lord. Therefore, we invite you to add the Beyond campaign to your daily prayers. As Scripture reminds us, when we lift our plans to God, He will guide us and be our ever-present help.
We invite you to use the following prayer as a guide: Heavenly Father, we thank You for calling us beyond where we are today, leading us into new opportunities to spread the gospel. Equip us to reach people for Jesus, disciple them in faith, and help those in need, as You have called us to do. Give us the courage to go beyond our comfort and bring Your grace to those who need it most. May we follow Your call with faith, bringing glory to Your name in all we do, to the ends of the earth. Amen.
Gifts toward the Beyond campaign are an opportunity to give above and beyond your regular offerings, allowing us to expand our vision and impact in new ways. We ask that any contributions to this campaign be considered as additional giving, apart from your regular support of the church’s operating budget.
For your convenience, you can contribute to the Beyond campaign securely online at beyondcampaign.org
Our secure giving portal allows you to make a one-time gift or set up a recurring commitment that fits your personal giving plan. Giving online is a simple and safe way to support these efforts. We invite you to join us in this journey of generosity and faith. Every contribution, no matter the amount, makes a meaningful difference. Together, we can go beyond our walls to reach more people, deepen faith and extend Christ’s love to those who need it most.
Thank you for prayerfully considering how you can be a part of what God is doing through this initiative.
