REGISTRATION

Program registration is open on a first come, first served basis. Early registration is encouraged. Registration on event day not permitted unless space and supplies allow.

CLASS MINIMUMS AND MAXIMUMS

All programs must meet a minimum number of participants to be held. If an event is full, be sure to sign up for the waiting list; new programs may be added to meet demand.

REFUND POLICY

i. Full refunds will be given to participants who have registered for a class or program that has been cancelled by The Woodlands Township.

ii. If the participant requests a refund more than three (3) days prior to the start of any class or program, one-day class or program or recurring class or program, they will receive a full refund less a $5.00 service charge.

iii. If the participant attends the first day of class or program and for any reason is not satisfied, they will receive a full refund less the $5.00 processing fee.

iv. Participants must submit a refund request prior to the second class/program meeting. After the second day of class/program, NO refunds will be available.

v. Fees associated with online transactions are not refundable.

vi. No cash refunds are given. A refund check may take up to four weeks to process and receive.

The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department welcomes people of all ability levels to enjoy and participate in its wide variety of quality programs and services. Questions regarding special accommodations should be directed to recreation staff at 281-210-3950. The Parks and Recreation Department complies with Title II Standards of the American with Disabilities Act.

WAIVER REQUIRED

All guests and participants must sign a waiver to participate in any Township program. Waivers must be acknowledged during the registration process prior to participation. Please see page 28 for the waiver.

Relive the simple life with our family campout. Activities include archery, kayaking, crafts, outdoor movie, night hikes, games, campfire and s’mores. Tents will be on the field and activities throughout the park in the amphitheater, trails and open space. The experience is priceless!

The Woodlands Township offers a variety of kid-friendly Halloween programs this month!

HAUNTED ARCHERY CHALLENGE, Ages 8+

Monsters have come out of the George Mitchell Nature Preserve! Help us save the range and learn a little about archery on the way. This hour and a half class will include archery instruction and a spooky game to practice the skills you have learned.

Fee (Per Person): $25 Resident; $30 Non-Resident

TANDEM TRICK-OR-TREAT, All Ages (Recommended 10 and Under)

Take your trick-or-treating to the water! Paddle a tandem kayak around the lower Waterway to collect treats from costumed characters. Costumes are encouraged! Pre-registration required. Fee: $45 per tandem kayak (admission for two people and candy for one child)

FLASHLIGHT COSTUME CANDY HUNT, Ages 3+

Bring your flashlight and trick or treating bag and hunt for candy at The Rob Fleming Rec Center! Prizes will be awarded for best costume and for those who find the hidden Halloween surprise! Parents must accompany children (no charge for adults). Please note, hunts begin 15 minutes after the start time.

FLASHLIGHT CANDY CANE HUNTS, Ages 5+

Someone jolly sprinkled the grounds at the park with sweet treats to hunt in the dark! Bring your flashlights to help us find them! Prizes will be awarded to the candy cane hunters who find the “golden” candy canes. Parents must accompany children (no charge for adults). Please note, hunts begin 15 minutes after the start time.

GINGERBREAD HOUSE MAKING WITH SANTA, Ages 3+

Build and decorate a gingerbread house with gum drops, peppermints, frosting and more! Parent or guardian participation required. Each enrollment receives one gingerbread house to decorate.

ELVES AND ARROWS, Ages 9+

Enjoy an introduction to archery with a holiday twist! The program will begin with instruction for beginner archers and will conclude with archery and holiday games. Hot cocoa and snacks provided.

JINGLE BOATS, All Ages

Paddle from Riva Row Boat House in search of wrapped presents along the lower Waterway, then back to the boat house for holiday treats and a very special visitor! Pre-registration required. Recommended for ages 10 and under.

ELF ON THE SHELF SCAVENGER HUNT, Ages 4+

Mischievous holiday elves have found refuge along the forested trails. Discover them all using a trail map, scavenger hunt, and educational signage.

Leagues are ladder format and do not require a partner. The regular leagues are eight weeks including two scheduled make-up dates. The Woodlands Township Ladder Leagues are intended to be both social and recreational in nature. For this reason, The Woodlands Township will not utilize any ranking system (i.e. USTA) when determining participant placements.

This 16-hour Wilderness First Aid Course is an educational resource for those involved in activities that take them beyond the boundaries of traditional urban emergency medical serves. This course is approved by the American Camping Association, Boy Scouts & Girl Scouts of America, various youth groups and youth camps. Two-year certification issued upon successful completion of class. Must attend all dates to get certification.

TREATMENT OF BLISTERS AND ANKLE INJURIES, Ages 14+

Students will learn/practice methods of ankle support using KTtape, sports tape, duct tape, SAM splints along various boot lacing techniques and more. Participants should bring their hiking shoes/ boots and be prepared to practice the various techniques on one another. This is not a certification course.

COLD & HEAT ILLNESSES, Ages 14+

Learn the necessary methods and techniques to properly diagnose and treat Hypothermia & Hyperthermia when recreating outdoors. This presentation will use lecture/discussion and hands-on practice to develop your ability and confidence to spot and treat these life-threatening illnesses using what is available to you. Participants should wear comfortable seasonal clothing and be prepared to practice the various techniques on one another. This is not a certification course.
