This class is for those who have never wet-blocked their knitted items. Blocking is a great technique for washing, redistributing, and stretching stitches in hand knitting. Whether preparing to wash and block a finished scarf or lace shawl or blocking pieces of a sweater before sewing them together, students can use the technique to create beautifully even fabric with flat edges, making it easier to seam and lovely to wear. Lisa CarneyFenton, owner of Handworks NW, and manufacturer of hand-polished Blocking Wire Kits, demonstrates the process of wet blocking. Following the brief presentation, the class works in small groups, wet-blocking a knitted swatch. This class also covers the mattress stitch, a seaming and finishing technique, to use after blocking, which makes a practically invisible and flexible seam for joining knitted pieces.

TENNIS 101 This class is for those who have very little experience playing tennis. However, participants have played tennis before and have no problem maintaining a rally with a peer for four to six shots in a row. Participants get comfortable with the correct technique for all strokes and areas of the court, as well as learning basic strategies. Players may only register for Tennis 101 a maximum of three sessions. Capacity: 8

COURT MOVEMENT –

Birth is a major event for the body, and it’s one that requires a lot more care and instruction to resume daily life than most expect. This postpartum course has a gentle approach that starts with breathing and learning to reengage the core. It seeks to educate the postpartum person on how to listen to their body and create long-lasting recovery. The movements are soft and gentle at first to unwind tension and encourage the parasympathetic state. Building strength comes next as the postpartum person is taught how to build pelvic floor and core strength with attention to alignment and proper movement patterns. This all is done with careful instruction and supervision by Pilates and yoga Instructor Mandee Louie, who has specific training and experience in pelvic floor and postpartum activity. Appropriate for those from one week to two years postpartum and who have clearance from their birth-care team. Members can register for one or both four-week sessions. This camp is the perfect opportunity for skiers and riders of all ability levels who want to improve their skills and get a taste of the team atmosphere. Participants are broken into groups of their peers with similar ability levels and work on broad-based skill development through directed free skiing/riding and drill progressions with a professional coach/instructor. New skiers and riders hoping to continue with MAC Ski & Snowboard Team for the season are evaluated during Holiday Camp. The students’ coaches determine if they are ready to join the team and make program recommendations on the last day of camp.

WONDERGRADE WORKSHOP

This family-based workshop for early emotional excellence helps young kids and parents develop skills in four fundamental areas of emotional intelligence: Coping with big feelings, self-regulation (calming down), mindfulness (focus), and building a positive mindset. How children are equipped to respond to emotional challenges today has a lasting impact on their future success as adults. Unfortunately, coping skills don’t always come naturally to children, nor does every child respond to the same coping technique. Kids learn a variety of research-backed coping skills, like deep breathing, self-regulation, and age-appropriate mindfulness techniques. Littles are invited to explore which ones work best during their time of need, all through play! Parents gain practical insights into how to apply these skills in real life and learn tools to help their kids move through life’s tricky moments. The class includes a one-year subscription to the Wondergrade app, as well as a set of mindfulness cards for families to continue practice at home. Morning sessions are intended for ages 3-5. Afternoon sessions are intended for ages 6-8. Parents with kids in both age groups can select one class to attend. Please register parents and children for class.
