2 | SUMMER 2024 PROGRAM GUIDE | Multnomah Athletic Club

MAC Athletics is excited to showcase its many programs and passionate instructors for members this summer. The club is committed to creating a safe and fun environment for children, and there is no other place where members can find such a variety of both athletic and non-athletic camps for the entire season. Whether members are looking for competitive or recreational sports, offsite adventures, technology and arts offerings, programs designed for younger kids — or a combination of all these things — MAC ensures children have a fun and engaging time. Summer camps at MAC demonstrate great examples of partnership and collaboration within the club.

SUMMER CAMP FORMAT

Camps fall into three schedule blocks: morning, 9-11 a.m.; midday, 11:45 a.m.-1:45 p.m.; and afternoon, 2-4 p.m. Those attending multiple camps are welcome to stay with staff from 11-11:45 a.m. for lunch and 1:45-2 p.m. in the check-in/out area; supervision is provided to ensure they get to their next session on time.

Each day, campers are dropped off and picked up from the third floor of the member garage. They need to check in upon arrival and must be checked out by a parent/caregiver at the camp desk located on the third floor of the member garage. Check-in for full-day adventure and kayak camps is in the Turnaround, at the club’s Main Entrance.

Expect check-in/out areas to be busy. The club strives to make this process as smooth and efficient as possible and recommends arriving at least 20 minutes before the camp starts, particularly at the beginning of each week.

All attendees receive a colored bracelet at check-in that indicates which camp(s) they are enrolled in for the day. Children ages 6 and younger receive an orange bracelet to indicate to all MAC staff that they may not roam the club on their own.

Questions? Call 503-517-2356 to reach the summer camp check-in desk.

GUEST REGISTRATION

Members may sign up guests for summer camps. To register a guest, members should reserve two spots under the same name. Guests must remain with their member for the duration of the camp. Members are billed for their guests’ reservations. Guest registration opens at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 21. Current MAC members may enroll their nonmember children and grandchildren in camps and classes during the summer for a 25% upcharge fee. Guests using the member garage need to take a parking pass from the security station and can have it validated by staff at the camp check-in desk.

FORMS AND POLICIES

MAC AGREEMENT RELEASE & WAIVER OF LIABILITY FORM

MAC classes and camps require that the MAC Agreement Release & Waiver of Liability form be completed by parents/guardians to give permission to treat children in the event of a medical emergency. At the time of registration, members are required to consent to the agreement. Members are encouraged to periodically review their children’s profiles and update contact information. To up-date a child’s profile, log in as them on the website and click “My Profile” from any screen.

WAITLIST POLICY

Members are waitlisted for a class that has reached maximum enrollment. Waitlisted members receive enrollment priority based on the order in which they waitlisted for the class. Members are notified via email if a spot has opened, and they now are enrolled. Updates to registration status also may be viewed online at themac.com.

CLUB-WIDE SUMMER CAMP CANCELLATION POLICY

Unless otherwise stated for a specific program, general policy regarding camp withdrawal is as follows:

• Withdrawals made by 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday April 30: No charge

• Withdrawals made on Wednesday May 1: 100% of fee charged

• All withdrawal requests subject to a penalty fee must be submitted in writing. The date used for the purpose of assessing the amount of fee charged is the date the club receives written notification.

Confirmed reservations made on or after May 1 are firm reservations and any cancellations will be assessed 100% of the camp fee.

CANCELLATION POLICY DUE TO LOW REGISTRATION

Courses that do not meet the minimum threshold of participants by approximately seven days before the first class are cancelled without charge. Registered attendees are notified via email if the course is to be cancelled.

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY

In an effort to eliminate confusion for members about the availability of club services and facilities when severe weather is forecasted, the general manager shall determine club hours and service based on availability of staff and severity of weather as reported by the National Weather Service. Club closure, delayed opening, or opening with limited services is announced to members at least four hours in advance, and by 9 p.m. for the following day. Weather alerts are posted on themac.com homepage and at all entrances as soon as they are announced.

Coaches determine if specific sport team practices are canceled and use TeamSnap or Team Unify to notify the teams directly.

MAC CAMP BEHAVIOR AGREEMENT

All junior members, nonmembers, and guests participating in camps are expected to follow club etiquette. Parents are responsible for their children’s behavior while participating in club activities. To view the full agreement, which includes expectations and behavior management techniques that are employed by MAC staff, visit themac.com.

Please note: The Program Guide is subject to change. For the most up-to-date information, visit themac.com.
