Our Mission Windward is a coeducational, independent day school dedicated to providing a proven instructional program for children with language-based learning disabilities. The multisensory curriculum is designed for students of average to superior intelligence who can benefit from the unique educational experience provided. Through direct instruction in small class settings, a trained staff assists students to improve their language skills. Academic success, combined with opportunities for social and emotional growth within an intentionally diverse and inclusive setting, enables students to understand their learning differences, build confidence, and develop self-advocacy skills.

Windward is committed to helping students achieve their full potential in preparation for a successful return to a mainstream educational environment.

To meet these goals, the School provides ongoing training to its faculty based on the most current research and shares its expertise with families, other educators, and the broader community.

Windward Fund

Each year, the Windward community demonstrates a strong giving tradition by contributing to the Windward Fund. The fund runs from July 1 to June 30 each year and provides the critical, unrestricted dollars necessary to provide a Windward education.

All community members, including parents and guardians, grandparents, alumni and their parents, trustees, and faculty and staff are asked to participate.

MATCHING GIFTS If your company offers an employee matching gifts program, you can make the impact of your gift to Windward go even further. Please check with the Human Resources office of your company to determine if they have a matching gift program. Gifts made by corporations to match your gift will be credited to you and counted in your cumulative giving for the fiscal year.

MAKING GIFTS IN HONOR/MEMORIAM Making a gift in honor or memory of friends, family, or Windward employees is a thoughtful way to contribute to the Windward Fund.

Windward informs the acknowledged individual or the family of the acknowledged individual with a written letter after the gift has been made.

RECURRING GIFTS Windward allows monthly, recurring gifts for donors to create a regular, ongoing donation schedule to fit their individual goals.

The Windward Fund Committee, comprised of dedicated Windward community members, collaborates with the Development staff to help meet Windward’s annual fundraising goals. Committee members connect with fellow Windward community members, sharing their common Windward experiences, educating them about philanthropy, and asking them to join in supporting the Windward Fund.

The committee helps other community members understand the needs of The Windward School in order to secure consistent financial support on an annual basis.

Special Events

Quaker Ridge Golf Club, where the Classic is held

WINDWARD CLASSIC The Windward Classic is a golf and tennis outing that will be held on October 5, 2021. Enjoy lunch, dinner, prizes for participants, and an auction. This event enables Windward community members from all campuses to socialize and invite their friends and colleagues to learn more about Windward. Proceeds support Windward teacher training.

SPRING BENEFIT On March 5, 2022, the School will host a Benefit to support tuition assistance, as well as teacher salaries and benefits. Not only is the night a festive celebration of the School’s work, but it is an opportunity to hear from Windward alumni who share their stories about life after Windward.

Capital Gifts

Capital gifts fund specific initiatives such as building projects and endowments.
