Welcome to The Westview School | Message from the Head of School

As the leading school in the greater Houston area dedicated to the education of academically capable children on the autism spectrum, I would like to extend our warmest welcome to you.

Our goal is to continue to expand on the foundation of the visionary leaders who built a unique program known for meeting the academic, social, and emotional needs of children on the autism spectrum. We look forward to the opportunity to build on this legacy in partnership with students, faculty, staff, and families.

When I first visited Westview, I was struck by the deep-abiding passion and commitment for the school and its mission. Over and over, I heard stories of connection demonstrating Westview's great pride in forging enduring relationships.

When you enroll your child with us, you are not just part of a school but a valued part of the Westview family. As you review our admissions materials and get to know us better, I hope you will come away with a sense of the following guiding principles that make our school unique:

Our intimately scaled learning environment allows us to provide individual attention to support, guide, nurture, and coach our students in the development of academic and social skills.

We truly celebrate each student for the interests and skills that he or she brings to our community. We view education as an individual path of growth and recognize that the journey begins when a student comes to us with unique strengths and needs.

Teachers provide opportunities for students to practice interactions with their peers and other adults to develop social skills and facilitate language acquisition. Children at The Westview School are routinely provided with opportunities to develop responsibility, empathy, and kindness.

Our students build reciprocal relationships with peers and learn what it means to be a friend. We believe that experiences such as field trips, art, music, and physical education provide students with opportunities to explore the full range of their interests and potential. Our students’ active participation in these activities makes The Westview School a vibrant and exciting place.

I encourage you to visit us and see all that we have to offer in person. It is difficult to capture why The Westview School is such a special place on paper; we hope that you will visit our beautiful campus, speak with our teachers, and experience for yourself the unique program that Jane Stewart created years ago.

I look forward to greeting you when you come.

Bevan Koch, Ed.D., Head of School
